Food fest...Makai Market is the place for all things food I've watched it evolved to it's current status and gosh the amount of time I've spent here is much more than I'd like to admit but as this is the primary major food court for miles the crowd it attracts is one of the biggest reasons I avoid it as much as I can.Just a quick dash in and out is pretty much time spent here lately sadly as I don't get the greatest phone reception here as well and the bathroom...bleh! As we evolved out of covid which was horrific scene to fill out a form to dine in and keep your distance to this day is the worse struggle to find a table here.Love the various vendors along with small kiosks giving us a wide variety to settle our hangry cravings as the empty spots has been filled with various newbies like Chick-fil-A, Roots & Greens is wonderful. A large group or just a solo party Makai Market is a good option for us to gather.Thank you!

Ended up here since I didn't know the Japanese food court is gone. Anyways, having been to makai years ago, decided to go but it has changed quite drastically. Overall food quality is sub par. Edible, yes. Worth going there as a tourist, while at Ala Moana Center, no. The worst thing is the flies! There's just so many of them in the food court that I'm concerned about food safety by all the vendors. How can state food safety inspection pass here? Something needs to be done soon as it's just so unappealing and a food hazard. If any of us get sick, I'll update to let you know. Even if we don't, I won't be back unless it improves.

I remembered when this food court first opened sometime in the early/mid - 80's at the Ala Moana Shopping Center! This was the very first food court I ever saw, and I was thinking - "What a great concept!" Where you can get an array of different types of food, because all the food businesses were in close proximity!Through the years, I've seen various food vendors who have come & gone. And over the years, I've seen this food court expand in size from its original humble beginnings.I recently stopped by the food court, as I was Jonesing for a piece of Frrrrrrried Chicken from the Lahaina Chicken Company. Now even if you're not a frrrrrried chicken fan like Bruddah Fran, there are so many different types of ono food you can get from this food court like - Japanese, Chinese, Hawaiian, American, Italian, Thai, Mexican among the different types of food choices.Table seating is plentiful, and there are a lot of table monitors who constantly remove discarded food & wipe down the tables and chairs to keep the food court environment clean.

Dining at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii...A food court is a great place for groups because everyone can get whatever they want to eat!.For example, a while ago, my high school classmates were visiting from out-of-town. We didn't know how many people were coming and what type of cuisine they preferred. One of the guys suggested Makai Market Food Court... Brilliant idea! There's lots of free, covered parking on the street level. This Food Court is rather large, is air-conditioned, is clean, and has convenient restrooms in the corner between Sbarro and Ramen Barrio. Most recently, my friends from New Jersey and I dined here. Two of us got Malaysian cuisine from SingMaTei, while one gal got an açai bowl from Jamba Juice. To each his own!Check out the Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, and Hawaiian food! There's also spaghetti, brisket from LA, Chick-fil-A, Häagen-Dazs, Jack In the Box, and more!

I can't believe I didn't Yelp about this place yet. I probably eat here four times a week. I remember when they didn't have A/C. It has gotten so much better since then. All the eateries are pretty good. The newest tenants are Chick-fil-A and Sbarro. Jack in the Box says they're coming soon. However, that sign has been up almost a whole year. My favorite place in the food court is Mama's Spaghetti House. I eat at Poke Box the most. I get the poke on greens. I can't eat pasta too often.

This place is gradually opening up with more customers on weekends; however, most of them close much earlier than prior to the pandemic. I like the enforcement of wearing mask & social distancing, but the security guards really need to pay more attention because I actually observed a few rule breakers who entered the dining area bypassing the entrance; they went under the opening on the dividers. I sincerely hope the management will view the recorded surveillance tapes and take corrective actions to ensure safety for all. Above comment is OBE. Not sure why I didn't post it when I wrote it during the pandemic. Oh, well. Maybe it can be (but hope not) used for future reference.

2-21-22 Impressed that they are serious about checking vaccination status and checking IDs. You must be checked by a security clothed employee to approach the food vendors and sit at a table. Perhaps 2 or 3 kiosks are outside of this checkpoint. The tables are spaced apart and look very clean and white.

Well, this place was OK. My hubby and I showed up at 10 am, who knew that was early, but we could go in and look around. My husband found something at Aja Bento and it was pretty meh. No review from me because I didn't eat there, but, that being said, at least we could walk in as people were setting up. That was nice. No coffee. And being gluten free, slim pickings. Even slimmer since I can't eat shellfish, so... But it was nice to sit down, finish a phone call, and so on. There were a couple of places that were open, but...1) I didn't come to Hawaii to buy a taco, I can get plenty better at home and 2) The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf often smells like additives/flavorings - not good old fashioned coffee, so I decided to wait for something to open upstairs at 11.

Plenty of options here to eat while you take a break from shopping. They have something for everyone so don't feel obligated to all go to one place to eat. There is plenty of seating as well. It is quite big so it can get crowded and loud so take it as it is or take some food to go. There are places to sit outside on the third floor of the center and just relax outside in the sun.
