If I could give negative stars I would. The staff their is rude, and crude. They have way to many obscene rules. It's hard to live a normal life because of all the crazy rules they have. One being your not allowed to have your own washer and dryer in the unit. The "laundry mats" they provide are insanely over priced and too small to even wash your bed sheets. You have to take your clothes to an actual laundry mat if you want them clean and to be able to wash towels and sheets. The "grills" are to small to old and to few. The pools are also way to small and in desperate need of updates. You pay over 700$ a month for the "services" they provide. Which is absolutely nothing and god help you if you try to own a pet. They love to give you citations for barking even though you have video evidence that your dog didn't make a peep all day. The traffic is also unreal unless you work in Waianae. Expect hours to go to or come back from anywhere else on the island. Absolutely worse, and overpriced place to live on the island. They need to be shut down.

We rented this place for a week for our family vacation through VRBO.com which is owned by a lady named Hope. The place is really far out so be prepared for driving. Lot's of driving. But the property is very well maintained. There are peacocks walking everywhere and freely roaming the area. There are also mongoose running around so be aware. The condo we rented had two bedrooms and was very spacious. Our view was of the ocean which made for many splendid mornings and evenings. The security guards that check you in are very full of the aloha spirit.

Makaha Plantation is a gated community where individuals are able to rent apartments or purchase one if the apartment is up for sale. It is located up near the mountain and some apartments has a view of the ocean from a distance. I have stepped foot on the premises only one time to meet up with one of my friends. My other check in was at the bus stop located outside of the gated community. After passing the guard shack there's the office on the right hand side as well as parking. In front of the office I noticed the vending machines if a person is thirsty. Plus there was a machine for the laundry key.On the day that I met up with my friend I decided to take a tour around the premises with a neighbor of hers. While walking around the vicinity we came across the basketball court, the tennis court, and swimming pools in two different locations. We found out from the security guard that the tennis court is off limits since the ground is cracked and uneven...waiting to be repaired. There were several buildings at various locations that are the laundry area for the residents.Residents are able to see peacocks, cats, and maybe even a chicken roaming around the vicinity. Residents are able to barbecue in certain sections of the community as well. From what my friend says this place is good for matured singles, couples, and retirees. Families with young children does not really last at this gated community because of the strict rules.Makaha Plantation would be a good place to invest if looking for a quiet and peaceful community.

Makaha Valley Plantation (MVP) is a gated community with a split community of west side locals and tourists. I've lived here from 2016-2017 and overall it is a very nice place. The scenery is beautiful, the wildlife is everywhere (these fricken peacocks are crazy), the tenants are friendly and the staff are helpful. Set relatively deep in the valley, it is a a place of escape from the bustle of Honolulu or even Kapolei. Unlike other locations on the west side, it rains quite often over here to the point of flooding providing a good balance to the heat the leeward side is known for. In my opinion the only real downside of this location is that they're very strict about who is able to get on property and the guest limitations can be difficult. You're limited to 10 overnight passes each month and are required to leave by 8:00am each day.You are given one parking stall (main vehicle on property) and are allowed one other stall if you pay $100 monthly for it. That's fine, the struggle is that the waiting list is over 8 months at the time of this review.Otherwise, I genuinely enjoyed my time here. I approve #pathtoyelpELITE #gottayelpumall

I lived the first 21 years of my life in the same condo in the Makaha Valley Plantation. My parents still live here and enjoy everything the plantation offers. My family of my own still visit once or twice a year and always stay here. It's beautiful year round, from the lush landscaping to the dozens of free range peacocks! The plantation is home to vacation rentals, renters, condo owners and retirees. The staff are all friendly and are always helpful.

Very disappointed we had and paid for a reservation this week we're staying at another place kids were flying in we are celebrating our 25 anniversary they called us at the last minute and canceled our reservation they only thing they could do was hook my kids up an hour and a half away I had to spend another thousand dollars to have them close to us to let them know that and they refunded my money but that was it very disappointed in the professionalism Here I had even confirmed this condo three different times to make sure that this was good this is our 25 year anniversary family vacation they just about messed up and it cost me another thousand dollars as a result

Yay! I love the Makaha Valley Plantation! I love this location for its peace and tranquility. The breeze coming down from the mountains keeps the air here fresh and clean. Waking up to the cooing of the doves is much better than an alarm clock. During weekday mornings the pool area is nice, sunny and quiet. Having the barbeque areas throughout the property makes it easy to throw some things on the grill, either near the condo or at the pool with friends. After hiking down to the beach, back up, up to the water tower (great views!) and back down, easing into the spa was a welcome treat! I also liked being so close to the Makaha Valley Golf Course, just about 3 min away! I love this property with its mix of vacation rentals, residents, retired folks, families with children, all the staff and grounds are very welcoming and warm.

Do NOT waste your money here, renting or God-forbid buying. The noise is ATROCIOUS. You will pay top dollar to live in a ghetto thanks to all the Section8 they accept. Drunk people SCREAMING in the parking lots. Unsupervised children monopolizing the pool. No adult-hour for the hot tub, so they might as well not even have this amenity. Mgmt uses loud powertools to landscape the grounds every day of the week. Mgmt is also extremely intrusive and often rude. Im just renting- i cant imagine dealing w this if I was an owner.

If your on the 1st or second floor good luck! You'll loose your mind if you have neighbors who doesn't care if their kids run and jump on floors that are made out of thin wood. If i would have known that my neighbors had kids running around like crazy rats, i would've never signed my year lease. On top of that, security responds to my complaints 15-50 mins after my call most of the time to where they cant catch the neighbors in the act running around like rats. So i end up suffering. Their was a Security that also claimed they came 5 mins after my call and i know they didnt bc i had my door open waiting to see them, so i can only imagine how many times they lied on their report. Also i had neighbors tell me that a security has been complaining about me always calling to complain and how they are tired of answering my complaints (after they told me to just continue to call no matter what). So now im intimidated to call, So i have been recording the noises hoping that its enough evidence to show that the neighbors are excessive, even though the security witnessed a handful of times when responding to my complaints, yet they sympathize with the owners upstairs claiming that it's impossible to control their 2 & 4 year old. Efforts is everything to me, if your allowing your children to run around for more then 5-40 mins at a time, your not putting any effort in, in my opinion. But if these noises continue, i will be breaking my lease and I will list the unit next time i follow up with my review so that whoever tries to rent this unit will know what to look out for. The property manager of my unit is rude as well, she tried to snap at me, telling me she don't like the way im talking as if i was yelling at her, so i then snapped back and told her i don't like the way she's talking to me, as if im her damn kid and cutting me off when im explaining! Im so ready to leave! Not worth $2,000 dollars at all!

I was completely shocked to log on and see the reviews on this place. I stayed here for one year in 2013. It is in a beautiful location and the grounds are lovely. However, the buildings are old and rundown. Each building has three floors, with separate units on each floor. Because they're wood construction, you're going to hear absolutely every step your neighbor takes if you're on the 1st or 2nd floor. Not to mention you'll hear music, loud TVs, people talking/yelling outside, etc. So your stay will be dependent on your neighbors. I had some very loud ones. A friend who lived here had a neighbor that had lots of fights with her boyfriend, and got to hear the police come quite often at all hours of the day and night. I did not have bedbug problems, but I met a couple who were visiting on their honeymoon and their unit did have bedbugs. Security were friendly and helpful, but not the most responsive or professional. Same with management. I wouldn't recommend living here (check out the Makaha Valley Towers - concrete construction and you won't hear anything from the neighbors) or Hawaiian Princess (on the water, also much better construction).
