I had high hopes but they were dashed. Ridiculous prices. $10.99 per pound and you don't serve yourself. This plate was $35!! Next time I'll drive into town and eat at Spice Up.

Ok so this place is a bit of a hole in the wall, and the parking is limited (although I always manage to nab a spot) but hear me out: It is GOOD. The staff (owner?) is so friendly and helpful and everything I've eaten there has been absolutely delicious. I am definitely not a vegetarian but I've been back a few times and it is consistently yummy. Even my boyfriend who is seemingly allergic to vegetables and an absolute carnivore cleaned his plate. Anytime I'm in Wahiawa or feel like driving a bit, I'm coming here. I should deduct a star for the drab interior but the food and staff just really make it worthwhile.

I'm not a huge fan of Indian cuisine. It hasn't even been in the realm of my favorite types of cuisine and to be fair, I guess I haven't had much of a chance to acquire and appreciate the taste since we don't have many Indian restaurants in Hawaii. However, Maharaja's is making a believer outta me. The naan has me torn. I'm used to eating store-bought naan and I love it straight out of my toaster and with hummus. The naan here is...different. It seemed deep-fried as it is saturated in oil. The naan I usually buy from the store is baked. Is there a specific way that naan is traditionally prepared? If it is fried, I'll stick to store-bought.My favorites have been the eggplant and pumpkin curry. They're both healthy and comforting. They have different varieties of rice (basmati, brown, etc.) Some of the rice is prepared with vegetables and herbs but most taste a bit bland.Docked stars for inconsistency. Inconsistent operating hours, inconsistent food choices, and inconsistent quality customer service. What are their operating hours? Who knows? It seems like more often than not, their open sign isn't lit. They don't have hours posted on their door. Food choices vary depending what the chef makes. Nice idea but when I want my favorites, they aren't always available. A new option I enjoy are the veggie samosas. Prices are a little steep. They charge by weight. At a little over $10 per pound, I've always spent a minimum of $20 each time I've dined in. But great to support this small, local business. Indoor dining available, but as for any frills, don't expect any. This restaurant is straightforward with the vegetarian Indian food. When I am in the mood for a non-meat, warm, and comforting meal, I'll stop in again.

Probably the worst food ever. The nan was not fluffy. It broke apart in pieces and was hard. The mango lassi didnt taste like mango. The samosas were dry. The only thing that was decent is the kabocha curry. Everything else was bad.

I know I get on his nerves because I have him go down the food bar line to ask what everything is. I've tried so many dishes and I'm always so satisfied. The owner is also so nice and helpful. One of my fav vegan spots on island!!!

I forgot to take pictures, but Indian food looks like Indian food, and you'll be getting it to go anyway, so imagine a stack of to go bowls filled with curry and you'll have the basic idea. Brown foods are the best foods, and this was no exception. This restaurant is on California Ave, directly across from Jack in the Box and between a pawn shop and a convenience store. The inside is a vast space with just a few dining tables and chairs and a steam table filled with delicious options. could you eat there? Yes. Will you want to eat there? Not if you live nearby. The good news about Indian food is that it packs well and reheats nicely, so it is easy to pick out what you'd like, priced by the pound, and have it later in the day. This is also a great plan because the chef, Damo, only makes as much food as he makes, so it isn't uncommon for them to sell out by dinner time. It took me almost a year to realize that I was never going to get the chance to try this food if I didn't pick it up early! I can't be upset that a restaurant is able to sell out almost every day, so I'm just happy that I've finally cracked the code.Damo offered me a sample of everything even after I told him I was planning to take an order of each dish. I was happy to try everything he had, though, especially as it gave me the chance to tell him how well spiced everything was. I could tell that he is confident in his cooking skills, and I complimented him and thanked him for feeding my family so well. That night we enjoyed a taro and lentil stew, a split pea dhal, pumpkin curry, and a sautéed tofu and vegetable dish. I'd skipped the delicious seasoned rice and chose to try the naan instead, which was ok, but very oily especially when I toasted it on the stove just before we ate. No complaints, just a different choice for my next visit. It took me a year of driving by to stop and finally make the leap. This is the only Indian food I've found in central Oahu, so I'm happy that it is so very good! It is priced by the pound, and is currently about $11 per pound, but the $80 I spent for this visit will feed three of us for two full meals. I've tried to make Indian dishes at home and know how expensive the ingredients can be, and how difficult they can be to find locally. I'm also so very happy that the menu is fully vegan, as I have friends that have those restrictions and I now have a ready resource for them. Wahiawa continues to amaze me with the diversity held in this wonderful town.

Me and my family stopped here after visiting the North Shore as it was one of the closest Indian restaurants to us at the moment and actually seemed promising. When we arrived, we all felt very welcomed by the owner. He was so accommodating and chatted with us the whole time we were there, such a humble and kind person to experience! The food is amazing, there is so much flavor and everything was perfectly balanced. I can't recommend this place enough, you won't be disappointed coming here!

WONDERFUL food. The nice employee took his time to explain what each dish was when we asked. Almost everything we tried was deliciously flavorful. I recommend you try everything, but especially the pumpkin potato mash. Excellent place if you want homemade food packed with flavor. :)
