Yesterday I came in and ordered for the family. I thought it was OK but the price was good so I factored that into ordering again. Today 3/1/15 I go back to do our weekend order and the prices increased!! I wish they gave notice like other places so it's not a surprise! Now my weekend order cost $15 more when I could have just ordered it with my yesterday order if I had known. So irritated at that. Second, I was waiting for 30+ minutes and I'm getting antsy. I figure I'll go outside. I let her know I'll be back and she says oh your order is right there. Ugh!!! I hate that. If a customer is waiting for their order why can't you just tell me it's ready?????!!!! Horrible customer service on top of the normal sandwich for $12-15 now. I won't be back. Yesterday's service was good though. The two afternoon workers on 2/28/25 were good. Very friendly greeting. And while I was waiting I took a work call so went outside. The guy brought it out to me. Now that's customer service and why the 3 stars. Today was 1 star service. And again the sandwiches are ok. And now the prices are the same as others so not worth it to me anymore. And I just opened it and they're on white not cracked wheat bread. I don't think the person asked me today.

I'm so SAD to rate it this low but this was based on a collaborative vote between my husband, my daughter and I. To start, yesterday we tried to come here and they had a sign it was closed due to short staff. Super friendly cashier and workers! Food was great, you can pick your type of bread and get a soda from the fridge. Clean and spacious area and hidden gem in Kalihi! Lots of parking in busy Dillingham area. Check it out!

We came here on a holiday and we actually were going to go to a different place for lunch but because of the crazy rail traffic we couldn't turn left. So instead we turned right and saw this complex with a whole bunch of restaurants and businesses. They have a lot of things in Kapalama Shopping Center. We looked at all the places and saw Machetes Mean Sandwiches. I said ooh let's try there, that's somewhere different. So we all agreed and walked in.We were the only customers in there but the person working greeted us when we walked in. Since it was our first time, I asked what sandwiches are popular. He said the "Meanest" ones were. There weren't kid's sandwiches on the menu so we just got my daughter the turkey sandwich. And my husband and I got something from the meanest menu. He got the turkey avocado bacon and I got the Italian. The person who took our order made our sandwiches. It was pretty fast. We opened the wrap and I was shocked. The bread on these sandwiches is amazing . I've never had such soft thick bread. I'm telling you the bread itself is the whole reason to come to this place. All of us were so quiet eating because we were just enjoying every bit of the sandwich. Everything meshed well with the bread and there was a good ratio of meat in there. I thought mine would be spicy but it wasn't, which was great for me. If you haven't tried Machetes Mean Sandwiches, come and give it a try.

Machete's has 2 locations and both have great customer service and food! Although I have to say the Kalakaua location has a bit bigger personality. Everything I've tried so far has been YUMMERS! Order the basic sandwich from the menu and you can add from there. The sandwiches are substantial and I usually have enough for lunch the next day! One thing I wish they had are sprouts and a larger assortment of chips.

I was dying for a deli sandwich and this cured the craving big time. The other location ran out of bread when we got there, so we made our way to the Kalihi location. I HIGHLY recommend this one just for the available parking spots. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered 4 sandwiches (Roast beef, Italian, ham & turkey, and the Machete) and it all came out correct and delicious. We added spicy peppers to all of them which gave it a good amount of acidity in every bite. The Kalihi location also has seating!!

Here for these light but filling sandwiches! Ordered the Italian Sandwich, and it was a healthy feeling sandwich (besides the bacon). Fluffy bread, meats, and veggies. Good meal if you don't want something real heavyOrdered through Uber and it was ready in 20 mins!Parking located a few stores down

3 1/2 stars: I always wondered how this location does business with all the rail work on Dillingham Blvd, but if the sandwiches are great, the people will patronize! The bread is absolutely delish, the amount of filling that is put in the sandwich is good, love that the lettuce is chopped - so yummy! But I can't understand that the service to say the least with the staff can't even put a smile to greet you or show some kind of aloha which brings down the stars to this establishment. It's small clean establishment with great sandwiches but, new owners with no Aloha!

I live within walking distance to this place and !often wondered to myself, "Why can't peoplejust make a sandwich at home?" I got myanswer after ordering sandwiches for my adultkids. These sandwiches are next level, the kindyou can't make at home. The bread is thick,fluffy, and very soft, yet stands up to the fillingsThe mayo is spread evenly to cover every inchof the bread (very important in sandwiches!). The fillings are freshly made and so very tasty and well made. We ordered a turkey, tomato, onion, avocado w/mayo and mustard and a BLT. Both sandwiches were so well made and my son couldn't even finish his so saved some for a later snack. This neighborhood hole in the wall is a hidden gem.
