Shout out to Donna O. for sharing this place with me. I took my daughter, who is visiting from Portland, to pick up a few cups of sorbet and gelato. They were open for business. We picked up 2 Kona coffee sandwiches and a mix of gelato and sorbet. My daughter tried the Hawaiian Honey gelato. It was creamy, delicious and the taste of honey was amazing. 5/5 starsThe rest is for later consumption. Service: There is a very sweet and smiling lady who helped us with our order. She explained some of the flavors and she was informative and adorable. 5/5 stars Ambiance: it's a small front store operation with a big back factory space. 4/5 stars. It's pretty clean and orderly.

WHAT I ATE - Hawaii@ La Gelateria 819 Cedar St., Honolulu HIMy wife' favorite Gelato spot going back to the 80s! And she's been to Italy where she ate a lot of Gelato to make her comparison!Since we had one of her friends to help us eat, we went for every flavor in the shop that day!All the fruit flavors were intensely vibrant and fresh. The standouts were the Lychee and the Pineapple Li-Hing (dried pickled sour plum powder).Too bad this place doesn't ship to the mainland! And so, we have to go a little overboard and enjoy it while we're in the islands. One of the places we HAVE TO stop at when visiting Hawaii! The shop is sort of industrial, very loud with the sound of freezers humming and no real seating. Sometimes, they may put chairs outside the shop. The parking lot is very tiny with the storefront recessed in the back. If you're not paying attention, you can miss it. We had to park about half a block away and walk there. Staff might be in the production area in the back, so ring the bell for service!VIDEO LINK:https://youtu.be/Xm6Xl3URFL8

Another hidden gem I have not written a review for (oh my)....Been ordering from this place for several years now, instead of ice cream cups from the supermarket, we do "gelato" and this place is amazing, I've seen their cups at the nordstrom gelato bar, so you know its good stuff. And you don't have to pay high prices at Nordstrom. Their hours are limited but worth it if you want to save bucks. The gelato is amazing and made right at their store. I order a combination of cups and pints for our freezer. On line has limited quantities, so if it says "sold out", call the store and have them check, I've had several instances I wanted a particular flavor and on line was OUT but when I called they put you on hold and check their physical stock (great customer service). Flavors rotate and they have their seasonal and stable gelato. This place is tucked away, but once you find it you will enjoy the ease of ordering, pick up and parking. I've never been inside, they seem to want everyone to stay out, but I've seen some reviews where they have gone inside and seen the cases of gelato, I've never seen this but will ask next time I do a order for pick up. Never seen the inside so can't review the ambiance or feel of the store, but from the outside with their table, it functions and not a problem to wait outside for your order to be brought out. Bring a cooler bag, unless you are purchasing one from them to keep gelato frozen, mines normally makes it home in the freezer bag (we are like 15 min away), so I make sure I go straight home. Haven't tried their other gelato products, but will eventually.

I recently dined at a restaurant where I was so looking forward to dessert. Words cannot describe the satisfaction of eating delicious gelato after an Italian dinner. However, it wasn't meant to be as the restaurant didn't have any supply on hand. Huge disappointment. Felt like a huge rock landed on my head.Luck for me, I am fully aware that the restaurant gets their gelato from La Gelateria (LG), a locally owned small business that makes Italian style gelato and frozen desserts.Since the disappointment, I have been thinking about spumoni on multiple occasions. It's hard to focus and concentrate when spumoni pops up in your head only to get frustrated because you want it so bad. Does this ring a bell? After having lunch at the office, I was eating some of the leftover Christmas sweets and then gelato pops up to my mind. At this time, I pick up the phone and call LG to make sure they have spumoni in stock. I have driven over to LG in the past and have walked away disappointed because they didn't have any spumoni available. I'm glad I called because I didn't realize LG doesn't allow walk-ins for retail purchase. Since COVID, you need to go to their website (lg2go.menu) to order and pay in advance. The associate advised the flavors are posted with availability or not. I hung up the phone and immediately searched and was thrilled that spumoni was available. I purchased 2 pints and after entering my payment information, I received an email informing my order went through and to wait patiently to advise when to pick up. That email arrived a minute later the next thing I do is hop in my car and drive over to LG.Instructions are also posted on their door. Press the buzzer for preordered and prepaid orders. I gave the associate my last name and she then brought out my 2 pints of spumoni. Parking here is challenging as it's small and the limited stalls are shared with neighboring businesses.Overall, a very pleased customer and so glad that LG has survived the pandemic. We need to support local and enjoy the finer things in life.

This review is way overdue. This place is a must-go if you love sorbet or gelato. Love that they always have lots of flavors to choose from and it changes on what flavors they have available at the time.

Small non descript location that produces some of the best sorbet and gelato around. They used to supply to Nordstrom back in the day. I honestly prefer their products over shave ice. Note that they're closed on the weekends and are open limited hours during the day. Since the pandemic they've required customers to order and pay via their website and then ring the bell when you arrive for pickup. My favorite sorbetto flavor is Lychee. So refreshing and you can see the real pieces of fruit! The gelato is equally tasty and really creamy. You can taste the quality in their products! This place is not to be missed if you enjoy frozen treats!

Despite it being the COVID era, it's nice to know that gelato and frozen treats are still easy to purchase, even without a creepy and stressful trip to the grocery store!Usually, my weekdays are spent at work and I'm not in town. But now that I'm Work from Home, frozen treats from a M-F 12-4pm operation suddenly became a possibility. I checked La Gelateria's website and found a great description of their easy to understand and well orchestrated ordering and pickup system. Follow the link to their full inventory in Google Sheets and send an email with your order and desired pickup date/time. Wait for a confirmation, pay through the provided link, and head on down to pick up your yummies. Ring the bell on the door, step back behind the tape on the ground, and someone will pop out to assist -- fully gloved and masked. In a minute, the staff person came back with my order and left it on the table for me to grab and be on my happy way. I ordered blueberry cheesecake, red velvet, deep dark chocolate, and margarita. Already the cheesecake is a new favorite with its smooth texture and delicious fruit swirl. Now that I know how this works, maybe next time I'll order some of the gelato bombs or cookie sandwiches too!Make the best of COVID and give these folks a try. They made the whole process easy, safe, and convenient.

Best Gelato for a decent price, plus lot of local flavors. They have both gelato and a sherbet. Workers are friendly and very helpful. They do accept card and cash.

The female employee was nice and friendly. The store closes at 5 not 4. She said they haven't updated the business hours with Yelp yet. I have had its ice cream at the restaurants that it has a business with and love many flavors.
