I know this place gets busy because they have a pager system already in place. You take yours to the car and it buzzes when your order is done. I have NEVER seen this at a food truck. It's efficient and also very considerate of the customers. My wait was less than 15 minutes and the birria tacos were well worth the wait. This is the third place I have ever had birria tacos and by far the BEST. The consommé and meat were very flavorful. I tested before I began squeezing with lime. The consommé had no cilantro. I love cilantro but I also have at least two friends that have that genetic thing wherein cilantro tastes like soap. (Yes. That's a real thing) so, in this case, it's better that cilantro is not a given. I really wanted to try the horchata but they were out. I already know I'm coming back. So it will have to be better luck next time.

Super delicious birria. I hate when biria tastes like pot roast. This ain't that! Ask for extra limes!

Not the food truck but the new brick and mortar shop on Fort Street Mall, where La Mission used to be. I had the 3 births with cheese and broth. really tasty. Broth little heavy on the salt, otherwise the chili onion cilantro seasoning is the bomba.

This is the one where I totally wimp out. And then I add to my embarrassment by writing about it on Yelp. So humiliating!Hit this place up because I bookmarked it after I saw it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives a while back. I like to check those places out when I have a chance. So, the episode featured La Birria's birria tacos and they looked good. What really caught my eye was the Hell Fire tacos. I figure, if you call something Hell Fire, it's gotta be good. And hot.See, there's the whole issue right there. I like hot food, I mean, you know spicy food, but I'm a total lightweight. I'm like a jalapeno or serrano level heat kind of guy, I don't cotton to habeneros. So, plainly, there's just no way I have any business ordering Hell Fire anything. But I had watched the episode, bookmarked the place and now I was at the window about to order Hell Fire Tacos. It's my turn. The dude is waiting for me to say something. There's a line behind me. My mouth opens and no words come out. The dude in the truck kinda crouches down so he can see me. I really want to say gimme those Hell Fire Tacos. But I can't. I just can't.After what seems like forever, I say, one order regular tacos, please, with noodles for my consomme. The guy says to me, I'm sorry little lady, we're out of noodles. Ok, he didn't say the little lady part, but I tell you, I wasn't feeling very manly walking away from the window.Didn't matter that none of the random people milling around there in front of the big yellow truck knew me. I'm sure nobody even noticed my whole ordeal. But still, I felt so embarassed. I tried not to make eye contact with anyone as I walked away from the window. Waiting for my tacos, I had ten or fifteen minutes to think about the whole sequence of events. Oh well, at least it will make for a good Yelp review. LOL.The regular birria tacos were good. In case you've never had birria tacos, they come with a cup of consomme for you to dip the tacos in. When you're finished with the tacos you still have a lot of delicious consomme left over, so it's great that they offer noodles, so you can consume that consomme in style.I'd like to say I'm gonna go back to La Birria Food Truck and get those Hell Fire Tacos. But that's just some crazy shit I'd say when I'm high. And I'm stone cold sober now, so I can say with some confidence, nah, that ain't ever gonna happen.Mikey C says: I am the god of Hell Fire, and I bring you...

Surprisingly with all the birria craze in Hawaii, I only recently tried birria tacos for the first time. I heard good things about La Birria and would always pass by the food truck since I live in that area. But the line would deter me away... sorry I just don't like waiting in long lines haha. I thought they must be good being that people are always waiting for it! Well I learned that they actually serve La Birria on Tuesdays at Beer Lab in Pearlridge. Perfect! My girlfriends and I decided to do a taco Tuesday night at Beer Lab after our workout (so much for our diet lol).I guess Beer Lab has different local trucks that serve in their kitchen on different days. Thought that was kind of cool cause you can experience the food truck while dining in. We decided to order both the birria tacos and the hell fire tacos aka hot af tacos. Both come with consomme to dip the tacos in. I was excited to try the hell fire tacos since I looove hot things. But man oh man, it definitely had a good kick. Actually I think the jalapenos that they served with their tacos was what made my mouth on fire lol. Beware of those seeds!! Anyway the birria tacos were bomb! It had a good amount of meat inside and lots of flavor. Although they might look small, I actually thought it was very filling. We each had 3 tacos and also a side of birria French fries.. it was a good amount of food for 3 girls. I can't really compare these tacos to anywhere else since this was my first but I really enjoyed them! I would totally come back again. I recommend going to Beer Lab on Tuesdays if you don't want to go to the truck!

2/9/2021 While taking a walk this morning we noticed this food truck parked on the Cooke Street boundary of the Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park. It wasn't even 10 am but we were being drawn by the delicious food aromas. We stopped to inquire about this truck seeing their DOH Pass listing them at Moanalua Road and I realized that I could cross off their Pearlridge location from my bookmark list. Yay! They're going to be parked in the Kaka'ako neighborhood. They were still in the process of setting up but the female worker did say that they're going to operate daily at this Cooke Street location. Their hours are Mon-Sat 11 am - 3:30 pm, Sunday 11 am - 2:30 pm OR until they're sold out. However, we had just eaten breakfast not more than 2 hours before and weren't hungry yet so we let them know that we'd be back after we finish our walk.I noticed that my husband picked up our walking pace as we continued on our usual 4-mile walk. He said that his tastebuds were excited to try birria quesatacos con consomé even though we had planned on having pizza for lunch on this National Pizza Day. We returned in about an hour but still before 11 am and decided to wait around until they were ready. However, the owner(?) let us place our order as he said they were ready. I was told by the female worker that the cook hails from Mexico City so I was looking for authenticity and not fusion. Looking at the menu, we noticed the choice between birria quesatacos with consommé and Hell Fire Tacos with consommé. Um, the Hell Fire Tacos are described as "hot AF" so we decided upon taking it easy on our digestion by ordering the birria quesatacos.FOOD:-Birria quesatacos with consommé AKA birria de res y consomé: 3 quesatacos were packed with a cup of consommé. Each 4.5" quesataco was crisp and still hot from the plancha or frying pan (sorry, I couldn't see into the truck what equipment they were using. Yes, the tortillas were dipped in consomé before being fried and we tasted the flavor throughout. The crisp tortilla held the generous beef filling and melted cheese. The consomé was rich-tasting with beef, tomato, garlic, cumin, chili peppers, oregano, peppercorns, and more. It was a bit greasier than I expected but as I dipped my taco into the broth, all of the flavors came together. $12Both my husband and I ordered the same although I was secretly wishing that he'd try the Hell Fire Tacos just so that we could compare the flavors. No, I wasn't trying to be mean and watch my hubby or myself burn...but, maybe we'll try it the next time. The service was friendly and efficient. They packed our quesatacos well and we continued our walk home without incident. Welcome to Kaka'ako!2/10/2021 They've moved to Pohukaina Street near to the Mother Waldron Bark Park.

Finny tried their tacos! Delicious! So glad there wasn't a line like in Pearl City. They've been there only a month so I'm sure the lines will pick up once it's known they are in town. They have the pho at pepper tacos but I opted for regular. I love spicy but I'm not sure I would be able to handle a ghost pepper. The pack comes with three tacos my pictures look like there's only two but I assure you it was there underneath. It's $12 for three tacos which is kind of high but at it was good. I wouldn't return if it was just alright. Their tacos are delicious. I like how simple their menu is. Sometimes there are too many choices. I look forward to ordering here again.
