L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

I stopped by while passing the area and bought Kalua Pork Cabbage plate for $15.65 tax included and wow, they gate me a big portion. It was good too with great service. The eating area right outside the restaurant was very nice. I am glad I stopped by.

We stopped here for a bite on the way to the airport. I got the garlic shrimp and rice dish. Their menu is enormous! The food was great. I wish the tables in the common area were cleaned more often is my only beef.

Since we were staying at the Hampton Inn at the Kamakana Alii Shopping Mall, this L&L Hawaiian Barbecue was very convenient for us...This is strictly a take out eatery with no indoor tables, just a few chairs to sit while waiting for your food. If you been to an L&L before, the ambiance is all the same, without saying...If you know you know...During our one week stay in Hawaii, we visited this L&L three times for lunch, dinner and afternoon snack. On one occasion, I ordered the Beef Stew plate...something that you can't find in Oregon...really...and a Teri Beef plate. On two occasions, I ordered a Cheesburger & Krinkle Cut Fries...I know what you're thinking, with L&L's vast menu of items, why in the heck are you ordering Cheeseburger & Fries. Yes its true, their Cheeseburger isn't going to win any best of awards, but for me personally, it is a young kid comfort food that I grew up on and it takes me back to my childhood.

This location is in the food court at the Ka Makana Aliʻi mall. It is a carry-out place but with some outdoor food court seatings. I got the Mixed BBQ which came with chicken, short ribs, and beef along with mac salad and 2 scoops of rice. The portion was huge. The flavors were delicious. I liked them a lot more than I thought I would. I definitely did not finish. Overall, it was a good choice.

I was not expecting this place to be as good as it was because I'm used to it being a chain and chains not being as on par as mom and pop pressure ones. But I must say it was better than the mom and pop places. This one was in the mall and a food court. And while there's no indoor seating, there is a little outdoor pavilion where you can eat. You walk in and order and they literally are handing your food just two to three minutes later. I actually wasn't saying the impressed because the flavor of the chicken and short ribs and beef was to die for. It was sweet and thin and marinated really well. The macaroni salad was my favorite of all on the island that we tried because it was just very lightly sweetened not too rich and not too creamy but not too dry. You got lots of rice and a small amount of what they call chopped salad which is basically cabbage. Plus for $15 and change. You end up with two meals if you're like me and have it for another lunch. They were not super friendly when I came in. However, the food was delicious so I don't even care.

Affordable hawaiian food located in the open food court area of the Ka Makana Ali'i shopping mall. Menu is more vast and different from the one on the mainland. I usually come here for the spam musubi...yummy!

Our experience was good. Nice to have the menu outside on the window to see pictures. The food took a while to come out even though there was no other customers. The bbq mix was very yummy. Wish the plain white rice had a sauce on it. The Mac salad was just a cold no flavor pasta salad. The portion was large. The chicken bowl was a nice smaller size meal. Rice in the bottom vegi and yummy chicken. We ordered a medium pop and it was HUGE! We should have split it. Sitting in the food court was nice, besides the flys. I wouldn't go again since there are tons of other places to eat and try.

We order here weekly, my husband enjoys, the side, garlic Ahi. We just ordered a small pan of fried shrimp which was awesome. It wasn't rubbery it wasn't hard it was just right. We also had ordered a small pan of the butter fish. The butter fish was also battered just right, not to thick with batter. The fish was nice and moist. It was not dried they also provided enough Tartar sauce.

My husband and I decided to order out on the spur and I decided to try out L&L for the first time. The plates (or in this case, the to-go containers) were very filled. I made the executive decision to order the Mochiko Chicken plate and the Garlic Shrimp plate. The Mochiko Chicken was decent while hot and not too bad the next day after heating in the microwave. Although, there was a strange smell to it. Maybe it's just the marinade that I'm not used to? Now - I do wish the Garlic Shrimp was a little better. A lot of the garlic butter sauce had seeped in the cabbage... so the cabbage was good! The shrimp on the other hand was more so flavorless by itself.It would also be great if a menu could be posted on the outside instead of having to peer through the windows to see every item (which was a little hard with the glare). There are pictures of menu items on the outside but more of popular items, which, I get - a different advertising strategy. Although, it probably would have been cool if they had posted their ramen burger ad on the window instead of behind the cashier and a little hidden. I probably would have ordered one of those if I didn't realize too late.Also, seating area is limited during dinner time (surprisingly) because it's a food court environment, and the seating area isn't big to begin with.

Food was excellent and no scrimping on dishes; service lady was very personable and friendly. Ensured that my takeout was well wrapped and secured for a kupuna to carry to the car.
