Where else can you get a dendrobium for $5.00? How about a sexy Honohono for $8.00? There are tons of selections of orchids, succulents and cacti to choose from. Aside from the plants for sale, there are a lot of edibles to tempt you such as Meyer Lemon Jelly, Surinam Jelly, Lilikoi Syrup, hand-made Redwood orchid planters and yes, more plants. The folk there are friendly and will even hold all your purchases for you. This year, the 2012th person won a ton of pretty orchid plants, too bad I didn't go to the show exactly 12 minutes later.Admission is a donation of $2.00. Free parking! Food for sale in tents outside!

Do you have a green thumb for orchids? Then you'll love the Kunia Orchid Society Annual Show which is hosted at Leilehua High School in Wahiawa every March. We were invited by our friend who had a booth selling a variety of orchids and other plants. It was unbelievable to see how many vendors were selling these delicate flowers and other species. Luckily, some of the vendors accepted credit cards but paying in cash was more convenient. In the middle of the gym, they had a group of winners which were not for sale. Photography was permitted. The entrance fee was only $2 and there many orchid enthusiasts to share their knowledge and expertise on how to grow and maintain their beauties. The events runs from Friday-Sunday but the sooner you go the better the selection. We bought a few for gifts and purchased with some cacti as well. Overall, it will take you no more than an hour to browse through the event. The society has a big following and if you love orchids, this is where you need to be!

Of all the Orchid Shows on Oahu that I have been to the Kunia Orchid Society's Show has been the best. They have most vendors & selection of Orchids & supplies. They have had very informative classes at the show. They have encouraged people to join the club to learn more about orchids. They meet the 1st Tuesday of the month at Mililani Ike cafeteria. The show days for 2020 is March 20, 21, 22 Hope to see you there.

I've seen banners for the upcoming Kunia Orchid Society events at Leilehua High School & wanted to attend but kept forgetting to check out the event dates. Fortunately, my Mom had a couple tickets & we were able to witness hundreds of orchids beautifully displayed in the Leilehua High School gymnasium. My love affair with orchids blossomed because one of my Grandmas has a deep appreciation for these stunning flowers (it's my go to gift gift staple for her :). I never realized there were so many colors, shapes & types of orchids until I stepped into the Paul Kobayashi Gymnasium. It was nice to see gorgeous displays of orchids throughout the gymnasium, a lovely surprise to see a miniature Japanese garden with collection of bonsai plants & fun to interact with other orchid enthusiasts.I'm so happy I was able to attend this event, because I walked away with a few miniature succulents to add to my growing garden. My only regret is not being able to document this experience with my Canon so the orchids would really shine. If you're a fan of orchids, be sure to stay up-to-date with the latest Kunia Orchid Society events to start/add to your orchid collection; you can also become a member & grow your circle of orchid loving friends.

First show of the season for me! I always look forward to orchid show season because not only is it refreshing, it's calming to the soul... I enjoy walking around looking at the different varieties of orchids, but also talking to the growers. They're a wealth of information and I always learn new things each time I go! The displays are fantastic and I enjoy taking photos of them. They had a really nice display of various ti leaf plants, but I was hoping to find someone who was selling some there... :( I love collecting all kinds of ti plants and maybe I just went one day too late!! Oh well, I did enjoy the show very much! Kunia Orchid Society did a great job, lot's of hard work!!!
