We always go to Kunia Chinese Restaurant. The ladies there are so friendly and helpful. The food is amazing and looks so good. The restaurant itself is spacious and well lit. They always wrap their take out foods with gravy with plastic wrap! That's so awesome and thoughtful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The mission: find a neighborhood Chinese restaurant that still cooks old school chop suey house, favorites. They are a dyingj breed.By chop suey house, I'm referencing cornstarch thickened, brown, watered down chicken stock goo surrounding wok stir fried beef, pork, chicken or mixed seafood with snow peas, onions, canned mushrooms or bite sized bits of red braised pork belly kau yuk, else glistening, yellow lemon sauce coating batter coated fried chicken.Sadly the food here is not old school and oddly, not even what you'd expect to find in an Americanized Chinese eatery. 1. Oyster sauce chicken: Extremely salty oven roasted chicken, cut up in gigantic pieces and covered with even saltier thickened, watered down imitation oyster sauce concoction. Inedible.2. Kau Yuk - Dry with no fat. Thick cut pieces of pork shoulder, not pork belly are under braised. Chewy and stringy. Bizarre seasoning that somehow makes it taste better with Heinz ketchup.3. Beef with snow peas - Tough beef but otherwise, a generous portion of properly snow peas. OK seasoning but no wok hei. Only passable dish of the three sampled. On a positive note, easy online ordering and each takeout container well wrapped in cling film to prevent leakage.Maybe I ordered the wrong things? Maybe this is food made for a different demographic? Not for me.

Food is really great here. Not oily. You eat family style over here so you buy a bunch and share.Friendly staff. They love children. Very accommodating and caring towards us making sure the kids had the right cups and utensils. Honestly, this is the only Chinese restaurant I have come to trust and love. I haven't found any like it yet!

Hubby and I craving for Chinese and came here. We shared the dinner plate and is disappointed. It was like no feeling to the food. Everything on the plate was luke warm to room temperature. Example the (my fave) chow mein was not cooked, the spare ribs and oyster chicken was dry and over cooked. The crispy gau gee was not even warmed up. Fried rice okay. Not sure if we'll be back anytime soon. But I can say their service is really good.

I was visiting my "GO-TO" favorite Chinese restaurant when it dawned on me that it was time for a NEW CHINESE CALENDAR ~ So I simply asked the waitress behind the counter if they still had the NEW YEAR's calendar for "2025" and without even looking up she reached under the counter and pulled out this BRAND-NEW 2025 Chinese Calendar and handed it to me ~ I was so pleasantly "surprised" I just immediately sat there with a silly grin on my face holding onto the calendar ~ I "scored" and waited patiently for my takeout order to be handed to me f

We decided to try this place again. We ordered takeout instead of dining in. We were greeted immediately after walking in and was asked if we made a takeout order. I told the employee no and she said she would be right with me and walked in the back. Another employee ended up taking my order which was fine as they were very busy. They were very busy with many tables inside and phone orders. A party also came in and decided not to dine there because they didn't have reservations and the restaurant did not have a table available right away. We were told our order would take 20-25 minutes, which was fine. We ordered at 7:10pm and our order was done at 7:35pm, 25 minutes on the dot.We ordered two take out plates.1. Egg Fuyong over Fried Rice: (The egg fuyong was delicious and had a good balance between the egg and veggies. The fried rice was plain. It was just tossed with some egg and very little peas.)2. Roast Duck and Char Sui over Steamed Rice:(The roast Duck was good and tasty. It was not dry, which was a plus. All but 2 pieces of the char sui were very dry and seemed old. Not good at all and I couldn't eat it. I was a bit disappointed it and also that I paid $3 for extra veggies which was under the duck and pork but didn't seem as though there was extra. The veggies were not much.)There is a good amount of tables inside for dining. The restaurant is well lit with chandelier lighting. This visit was better than our previous visit and debating if I should try it again and just not order the items that I didn't like.Other food items must be good as many eat there. We like to eat Chinese food from time to time but each time we came, something was a disappointment.

If you're on the west side of Oahu and craving some exceptional Chinese cuisine, Kunia Chinese Restaurant is the place to be! This gem has quickly become one of my absolute favorites, and for good reason.First and foremost, the staff at Kunia Chinese Restaurant are incredibly friendly and welcoming. From the moment you walk in, you're treated like family, which adds a wonderful personal touch to the dining experience. The service is impressively quick, ensuring that you're never waiting long to dive into your delicious meal.Speaking of the food, it's consistently fresh and bursting with flavor. I recently tried a variety of their dishes, and each one was a standout. The salted fish and chicken fried rice was a perfect blend of savory and satisfying, while the honey walnut shrimp offered a delightful mix of sweetness and crunch. The fried tofu and eggplant were cooked to perfection, with a great balance of textures and flavors. The roast duck was tender and flavorful, a true highlight that left me wanting more. And the pepper fried pork chop? Absolutely mouthwatering! Every dish showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality and taste.Overall, Kunia Chinese Restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience with its friendly staff, quick service, and consistently fresh, delicious food. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves great Chinese cuisine. I can't wait to return and explore more of their amazing menu!

If you're looking for quite possibly the best Chinese family style restaurant on the island, you found it here. Not only is the food, phenomenal with delicious flavor, it was cooked perfectly every single time we've been. Service is excellent- they really do treat you like family. The first time we came here, was actually Christmas night. They were super busy yet welcomed us with open arms and never made us feel like eating out on Christmas was an inconvenience. Wait since been numerous times, and that feeling of welcomeness never subsides. Everything is served family style, with plenty of servings to feed more than a couple of people. You can definitely serve a large family here or even a small office party.

First time here, not sure why there only 3 1/2 Stars. They Won an Award for best Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing, service was excellent. Roast Duck best I've tasted, also the walnut shrimp amazing. Spicy pork with long beans was good too. The portion was a lot. Thursday night was super busy, I'm glad we came early 6:00pm. This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. Aloha, Derek

I thought I posted a review back in 2024 about this place. I raved about their Fatty Kau Yuk!Anyway Wife and I visited again last week. We were told by the Waitress that their Kau Yuk is now on the Lean Side? I exclaimed " It Shoulb be Belly Pork like the last time." She said it isn't anymore Citing the Owners Decision. So I asked about their Roast Pork knowing that it will be Belly. She said "Not as Lean"??Then..we got our Crispy Gau Gee. It was a lean meatball of Ground Pork. Their House Noodles that had nothing but Shrimp, and Peas. Taste lacking, and the Orange Chicken has so much Batter like Panda. I gave two stars because their Shrimp with Walnuts was The Saver. Being in my 70's and growing up with the Great Mui Kwai (now Kin Wah) in Kaneohe. To me, Kin is still THE BEST!Anytime you have a Chinese Restaurant that does KauYuk or Crispy Gau Gee without the minimum of Fat, which is the HALLMARK OF CANTONESE. Should not try and sell people against Tradition. Bye Bye Kunia.
