Ate here a year ago and not an outstanding experience with the kushi-katsu appetizers . Blessed with a couple of gift certificates so we decided to return. Had a 5pm reservation because we wanted to take advantage of the 20% off happy hour drinks. Service was very good. Seated quickly and given menus. There were already four tables with diners, some enjoying the appetizers (kushi-katsu, which we were not impressed with a year ago..., but that's just us). Asked if we wanted to order drinks quickly. Drinks came quickly, too. Hubby had his Orion draft and I got a glass of Chardonnay. Born were good. Server came to take our dinner order quickly, too. We ordered the pork loin katsu and chicken katsu teishokus. Our miso soup, yummy tsukemono, and sesame seeds in the mini suribashi (grinding bowl) and pestle came quickly, too. Always fun to grind the sesame seeds! Our katsu came in a relatively short time with lots of shredded cabbage. Our server described the salsa as dressings, a miso/ginger and a more traditional sesame oriented style dressing. Tsukemono - LOVE the kimchi takuan! Always look forward to this. Also LOVE the garlic stem kimchi, really nice and crunchy and has good flavor. Both of us enjoyed our katsu, nice and hot, crispy/crunchy outside, tender and juicy inside. It was my first time eating the chicken katsu and the thighs were really good. Enjoyed adding the mustard to the katsu sauce - having the ground sesame seeds and mustard really takes the katsu sauce to a different level, and much more authentic. (Prefer the basic sauce and adding the sesame seeds and mustard, which gives it a tiny kick, over the spicy sauce.)This time, food was 5 stars. While not quite the same level as some of the higher level katsu places, the food was very good for the price, so it was a great value for the quality. We also like being able to enjoy good katsu near home. Service was also 5 stars. Overall, my faith has been restored in Koromo and next time, won't wait a year to return.

Here's a TL;DR review of Koromo!Parking: Free, it's at the pearlridge mall next to Gen's BBQ. The GPS took us to the older adjacent mall.Food was awesome. It took some time to come out but they kept us occupied. They let you grind up your own sesame (to pair with the tonkatsu sauce) and it's UNLIMITED CABBAGE! They kept topping us off! Ambiance was a few steps above casual. It's clean and nice in there. Upscale I would say.Just a fair warning it is a little expensive, some dishes pushing $30-$40 per plate. The curry is really savory with a small little spice to it.If you're in the area and are craving something you can trust, I'd totally recommend Koromo.

Koromo is a restaurant specializing in katsu, located in pearlridge "downtown". I like parking in the shaded lot near longs and going up the escalator to the mall level so that my car doesn't get hot. Also, the upper floor parking lot is not designed very well and I always feel like I'm waiting forever up there. Once upstairs, if you walk towards the entrance to the upper floor parking lot, it's on the right, across from mango mango and aloha salads. The inside is kind of homey. I think they try to fit as many people inside as possible because the tables are a little squished or placed at kind of awkward angles. There were a few other couples dining at the same time... it looked like a couple of office workers and then some tourists. I was surprised the tourists came all the way to pearlridge for Katsu.... It's probably not something I'd do or recommend because there are so many other choices. Koromo must do good marketing to tourists. For lunch on a weekday there was no wait, but I think this place could get crowded because it isn't that big of a restaurant. However, the waitress told me to wait for my friend before she seated me... I thought that was a bit unnecessary, but it allowed me a couple minutes to look at the menu posted outside the restaurant. They offer lunch specials, which is nice because the regular menu prices are all over $20 per plate. I got the pork Katsu lunch special for $17. It came with rice, cabbage and miso soup. You can add one of two dressings to the cabbage to make a cabbage salad and there are two types of Katsu sauce. The service was good. We were checked on regularly and they allowed us to split the check. Our waters were always refilled and the waitresses were nice except for that beginning part when they wouldn't seat me unless my friend was there. If you like Katsu, this is the place to go in pearlridge or probably anywhere in Pearl city/aiea. There are similar restaurants in town/waikiki that I think I prefer, but this is a good alternative if you're in the area.

Food is excellent! Service friendly and efficient. Only bummer? They close early! Pandemic has really thrown a wrench into many things and unfortunately restaurant hours are one of them. Lunch specials Tonkatsu pork loin it was. Crispy, juicy, moist, so good. That cabbage salad always so good and simple. No crowds and service attentive!

Date: 1/9/24Time: 11:56amWhat they got right: The food quality and value was spot on! Our server, Tiffany, was super! She was Friendly, helpful and efficient! Areas for improvement: None that I can think of at the moment.Recommend: Yes!My Mom and I came here with a coupon and Tiffany kindly informed us how the coupon worked. She didn't "coupon snub" us like some servers do. We ordered our meals and Tiffany promptly brought them out. Although it was busy, she made she checked on us regularly and refilled my water glass. When it was time for to-go containers, she included extra cabbage for each of us plus both salad dressings and tonkatsu sauces. My Mom liked her so much she tipped more than 20%!

If you're looking for a tasty tonkatsu spot that's not booked out 6+ months or all the way in town, this is the place for you! Came by on a Friday night around 6pm and was seated in 10 minutes. I ordered the PORK LOIN KATSU TEISHOKU190g (6.7oz) for $28.25. Each set comes with thinly-sliced cabbage, Kimchee, Tsukemono, Seasonal Miso Soup, and your choice of white or brown rice. The tonkatsu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I loved all the sides, especially the kim chee radish. Service was very pleasant. The 2 gals working kept our waters full and offered extra servings of cabbage. The restaurant itself is pretty small with trendy decor. There is outdoor seating as well. Definitely a must-try if you're in the mood for some delicious tonkatsu!

Came during lunch. Always a consideration for lunch/dinner whenever I'm in Pearlridge. There's a bar area and table seating. This time got the Pork Loin Katsu lunch set. I like that they give you the miso soup right away while they work on your order. The pork loin katsu was crispy and flavorful. I like dipping it in the ponzu sauce. Our waiter was very nice and checked up on us all the time. Just a very satisfying meal. I'm not gonna compare it to another Katsu eatery that's on Kapahulu that I believe is the best Katsu restaurant on the island but at least you don't have to make reservations 6 months in advance to come here. Lol

Definitely a place with delicious kushi katsu items. Price is average, but they have a variety of lunch bentos and it's a good deal! The onion is definitely my favorite especially since they use Maui onion. The service is good! I went on a slow Thursday... Shay was on it. It is a small space, but packed with flavorful dishes! Their curry had the right amount of heat. They have complimentary cabbage as a sids dish and it really cools down the heat. The cabbage has 2 different dressings. I forget what they were, but i do remember i enjoyed the dark one. The chicken and oyster was a delight! The best kushi items were definitely the onion and mushroom! I would definitely be back for the shrimp!

After returning from Japan with a lingering craving for authentic katsu, we decided to dine at Koromo, and it did not disappoint! This restaurant offers a fantastic variety of katsu options, including pork loin, pork fillet, and chicken--each cooked to perfection with a crisp, golden exterior and juicy, tender meat inside. I decided to order the combo which has all the katsu. 4.6 oz of pork loin, 1 piece of tenderloin pork and 1 piece of fresh chicken thigh. All that for $29.75 which is a bargain if you tell me!The service was top-notch, and the staff was attentive throughout our meal. A big highlight was the unlimited cabbage refills, which added a refreshing crunch to every bite. Love the sauce you're able to spread on the cabbage for extra flavor! Whether you're a katsu connoisseur or trying it for the first time, Koromo delivers an authentic and satisfying experience.Highly recommended for anyone looking to relive their Japanese food adventures!

The Chicken Katsu and Pork Loin Katsu were extremo juicy and full of flavor. The loin is more fatty than the filet, if you are wanting a juicy katsu then get the loin! I also got the Kaki Fry (oyster katsu), which I personally wouldn't get again. I felt like it was dry and not super flavorful. They provide you with the option of two different katsu sauces one more tangy and one sweet. Overall I will definitely come back for the Pork Loin Katsu or Chicken Katsu, but probably would not order the Kaki Fry again.
