Kimo's Akamai Catering

Kimo totally rocked our wedding.We organized the whole shebang from California and were impressed from the get-go by Kimo's responsiveness and thoughtfulness. He called us and talked through our needs, and was vastly patient when it was clear we had no idea what we were doing! The wedding itself was a smash. Kimo showed up two days early for a walk-through and the day before for prep. The day of, the heavens opened and it rained cats and dogs and boars and horses. Which ruined our outside plans! But Kimo switched to the backup plan of serving indoors -- and the food was magnificent.I think what I love most about Kimo is all the little things. He handled flowers for us, got a wedding arch and even had his team run across the street to get 20 umbrellas from the drug store! In the end, with a million changes and some things we used and some things we went over on, he sensibly threw it all out the window and called it even.I've never hugged a vendor as much as I hugged Kimo. Amazing food and a fabulous spirit. Hire him!

Our venues first choice when it comes to catering. I've had the pleasure working with Kimo on many occasions. Great customer service, staff is wonderful and the food is always ono! Highly recommend!!!

Absolutely wonderful! I don't know how he did it but our wedding was perfect! He was very communicative and answered all the questions and concerns my husband had. He helped us find vendors while working with our budget. The food we ordered (tacos and haupia cake) were also great. It was filling and flavorful. Much better than the bland and small portions I'm used to at other weddings. He also went out of his way to help pick up the bride after the bride had unfortunate car troubles the day of the wedding. Hes the best!

I had less then a week to find a amazing chef to surprise my friends. We were going to celebrate their engagement in Maui and it was a secret. Thanks to Chef Kimo he made is possible. Professional, easy to communicate with and fun person all around. He was able to help with our dietary needs and made the best memorable meal to celebrate our friends. We enjoyed a wonderful meal in our condo. This guy is first class all the way. I hope I get to see him and eat his wonderful food again.

I had Kimo cater my wedding and his service, catering team, and most importantly - the food - were all fantastic! Kimo was so easy to work with, and created a menu that fit my budget. He responded very quickly to all my questions and made the whole planning process extremely easy. On our wedding day, my guests raved about the Mahi Mahi Mac Nut & Okinawan Sweet Mash Potato, thankfully we had some leftovers to eat the next day! Kimo's menu also had lots of options to accommodate my gluten free & vegetarian guests. We also used Kimo's staff for bar services. Dominique was awesome, and we had so much fun with him as our bartender! I also had Kimo help me sub-contract tent, tables & other wedding rentals. He was able to secure a cheaper deal than I was able to find. Having him as the main point person for my rentals & food, also made the logistics much easier. I highly recommend for any special event! Chef Kimo and assistant were absolutely amazing! They created an elegant anniversary dinner at our vacation rental right on the ocean. The timing of the courses was perfect. Better than any restaurant. The food was so delicious and tailored exactly to our needs (3 vegans). We can't thanks Chef Kimo and team enough!!!!

We hired Kimo's Akamai Catering for our smallish wedding reception, having found him on a search online... Our biggest concern was that we had good food for our party.Let me tell you, the food was amazing!!!!! To be honest, we didn't look for anyone else after he said the words "fry bread" and we are so glad for it!!! The reviews from our guests were all 5-star so it's only fair we share it here on Yelp! Everyone was full and happy, and even the picky youngsters went for seconds!Chef Kimo was a pleasure to work with, he took lots of time to meet with us and to work through our MANY questions. He went above and beyond when we couldn't find a venue and hooked us up with something beautiful and perfect for our group! He even managed to make a big adjustment when we were forced to change our timeline. He put a lot of effort and care to keep things within our budget without skimping on class, which we appreciated.Chef Kimo ended up working our event with a very limited staff, and I would be remiss to not thank them too! They worked so hard and were so pleasant, even thru a couple of curveballs we threw at them! What a great company led by a super cool guy... Kimo provided AMAZING service for our unique Coast Guard Aviation celebration. He worked really closely with our group to understand our needs and meet our budget. The food was delicious and plentiful. He totally went above and beyond by helping us with decorating. His staff was super friendly and helpful. I would definitely use them again for any event!!!

My husband and I, both of our families and all of our closest 30 friends were in Hawaii for a week for our wedding and Kimo's food was THE best food any of us ate there! The pork spring rolls disappeared in seconds, the island berry salad with moscato was SO refreshing, and I still have dreams about the okinawan sweet potato mash. We got the island chicken roulade, macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, and grilled paniolo beef and it was some of the best food I have ever had in my life. Besides the food, Chef Kimo helped us get tables, chairs, silverware/plates, speakers, microphones and everything else we needed for our reception. They were basically my second wedding planner and beyond helpful! Chef Kimo even went to our rental property and sent me videos to give me peace of mind since I was unable to see it before our arrival. We could not have done our wedding without them!
