This place is amazing. Some of the best ribs and chicken I've ever had. The macaroni and rice sides were also excellent. The staff are very animated and friendly. All the food is excellent and and fair priced. Don't forget to try the sauces and bring cash!

Drove over from Kailua on the way up to the the ukulele store in Haleiwa, and the eatery I had planned to stop at was closed. Kiani's was on the way, was an easy stop along the road, and it was simply fantastic. Tasty sides, too.

There are a million places to get a "plate lunch" in Oahu, but this was my first time eating "Guava chicken"... They host a stand towards the south edge of the Swap Meet close to the dining/seating area... Just follow the smell of the grill and you will be sure to find it!PRICES:Guava Chicken Reg Plate $7.00 2 scoops of white Rice and Macaroni saladMini Plate $5.50 Single scoop 1 scoop of white Rice and Macaroni saladKalbi Regular Plate $8.00Mini Plate $6.00Everything is cooked on the spot and your food is served fresh and hot! The macaroni salad is good and not bland in flavor like some other plate lunch joints! The texture of the chicken is so tender... the Guava marinade is amazingly good... I destroyed the chicken in under 20 minutes! The kalbi had a lot of meat on it... again, amazing marinade! Tender and not too much fat... MORE MEAT THAN BONE!I definitely recommend the Chicken if you haven't had Guava-Chicken yet!

My fiancee stumbled upon their booth at the Korean festival this weekend. He doesn't really care for Korean food, but agreed to come with me nonetheless. We tried some of their samples and he decided to get it for lunch while I went off and bought some stuff from the other booths. When we went to sit down, I noticed that it came with about three pieces of chicken, two scoops rice, and a scoop of macaroni salad. All of this for 8 scripts ($8). He gave me a few pieces of chicken and he commented on how tasty it was. Now, this surprised me since he really doesn't ever talk about how the food tastes, so this meant that he really, really liked it. The sauce was pretty good and he liked that the chicken meat itself wasn't dry at all. The owner (I assumed he was the owner) was very pleasant and made small talk with all the customers as they waited for their food. I hope they did well for the rest of the festival.

My wife and I just ate here on a recommendation from my cousin. Sort of tricky to locate, but a great find for us. We went there. In the pouring rain and parked on the side street, which was actually behind the restaurant. We ended up walking into the actual kitchen. The staff was very friendly and invited us through the kitchen, sort of a mini tour. The place is small, but they have a nice menu, plenty of options. They took the time to tell us the history of the place and gave us samples while they just talked with us. My wife had the combo Mahi-mahi and chicken, I had the Kaybi and chicken. We both had rice and macaroni. Everything was good. Total cost for both of us was $27.00. The sauce on the fish was beautiful. The whole meal reminded me of a perfect family barbecue, without the clean up. They offer sodas and teas for a dollar or two. When we got ready to leave, they took us out through the back again so we didn't have to slog through the rain. The only hitch is that they only take cash, but they pointed me to a Zippys that had an ATM and problem solved.

While visiting Oahu, we're always up for a good plate lunch. We were in the area and wanted to take a break from a full morning of sweet snacks. Kiani's sure did the trick. We walk in to an interesting but simple set-up: a few tables and a plain counter. Kind of refreshing actually. The guy behind the counter started to start conversing with me in full-blown hardcore Hawaiian. Now in an ideal world, I would speak fluent Hawaiian and that would throw him off a bit but I think he would have respected me more for that. Unfortunately I never followed through with the Hawaiian language program on Duolingo and the only Hawaiian saying I know is "Ua Mau ke Ea o ka Āina i ka Pono O Hawaii" which would have been so random. Oh well. Dude was uber cool, nonetheless and was quite entertaining. I didn't have huge expectations for the guava chicken because I was afraid it would be too sweet. But it was not too sweet and that sucker was tender and charred! They offer an array of sauces but the hot sauce was my fav. We also got the crusted mahi with guava tartar sauce and that was also very meaty. Good job guys! I love seeing local old school spots like this. They really do make you feel like family. Mahalo! (P.S. it's CASH ONLY-but there's an ATM)

Mahimahi plate was ok. Cashier was friendly. The owner on the other hand likes to drive super fast in his nice diesel lifted truck up Mililani Mauka. I guess I was going too slow for him so he proceeded to fly his truck on my a$$, cut me off then ended next to me at the red light and rolled his window down. I wonder what he would've done if the light didn't turned green right away. Praying for this guy and those in his path.
