I was so impressed by Ken's Fresh Fish!!! This is such a hidden gem in Laie and I would drive out from town any day of the week to eat here. The price, quality of fish and taste is unbeatable. I highly recommend what we ordered (ahi katsu plate and spicy ahi bowl) so you can have the best of both worlds. There's no seating here, so I'd also recommend taking your lunch to the beach to enjoy. My only regret is not buying fresh fish to go. Hope to be back real soon!

A little fishermen's gem located all the way in Laie, it sure was worth the drive from town. Taking in the beautiful scenery away from the city was just what I needed. As a big katsu lover -- of course I ordered their popular Ahi Katsu for $15. It was a big hearty portion! I love that it's half salad and half rice which balances the dish more. I even had some leftovers the next day. Ken took our order and it took about 15 minutes. They have fresh ahi in their fridge too. Takeout only. Wooden benches to sit inside while you wait. Parking in the front available. Tip: I recommend calling to make sure they are still open, online said it was open till 5pm but when I arrived the sign said 3:45pm so we barely made it in time. Will definitely come back!

Is it worth the 35 mile each way, 1:15 hour drive following self absorbed tourists driving 15mph below the speed limit, slamming on the breaks because said drivers need to slow to 10mph to go over speed humps and dodging others who think crosswalks are a suggestion that doesn't apply to them?If you want the best ahi katsu on the island, yes.A huge slab of fresh ahi (an inch thick weighing between 14-16oz), coated and deep fried golden brown. Either cooked medium or well. Sauced with a savory tonkatsu sauce and wasabi aioli. Sat on a bed of rice and tossed salad. Perfect seasoning. Outstanding freshness. Not into katsu? Fresh fish can also be prepared in garlic butter. Raw filets and chunks available for purchase. Sashimi and some solid tasting poke as well.Located in the same green building as Cackle Fresh Eggs in Laie.Great value for money at only $15 for a regular plate.Amanda and Felix, you got this one right! Highly recommended the next time you have the urge to play tourist.

Amazing food! Very causal. Walk up counter service. Short wait, unless you order items that are tagged as 'extra time'. To-go only. There is a bench for waiting, but there is no seating for service. While you wait, there's a variety of baked goods, poke, t-shirts, and local artists' items to browse. I had heard great things about Ken's Fresh Fish, so I'm glad I finally had a chance to stop in. I'm sad I hadn't tried before! I definitely will be back.Pro tip. Get there before they open. They get busy! We got there just as they were opening, and the parking was almost full as people were already there waiting for them to open.

The owner, Ken, is a grouch! If you DARE park in the empty parking lot fronting Ken's Fresh Fish and Ken is anywhere on the premises, expect Ken to come screaming out and rudely ORDERING you to move your vehicle! And the place isn't open for business at that time of day. No aloha, the food must taste sour.

My husband had the sashimi from here a few days ago and raved about it, so we came back to try other things. I had the grilled ahi sandwich and it was incredible! I loved the slaw and the sauce that was in it and the combination of those along with the ahi was perfect! So, so delicious!! My husband had the ahi katsu and said it was amazing and had such good flavor! My girls ordered the poke and really liked it but they wished it had more sauce for the rice and that the fish was cut into a little smaller pieces. Overall we loved our meals and will definitely be back for more.

Bought a so called fresh slab of ahi today for $30 and damn was it bad! It was so fishy couldn't even eat it or fry it up. Smelt like week old fish. Other than that only get the Ahi Katsu since it's fried, you can't smell or taste the old fish lol
