I'm glad I didn't listen to some of the reviews, and I sent my son here. The director Aunty Cheryl is amazing, and very kind. I was in a special situation, as I was moving from Makaha, to Aiea with very little notice and she went out of her way to work with me, and made the transition less stressful. Everyone here is very sweet & kind. My son took a little bit to adjust in the beginning as I expected because this is his first experience not being home with me (because of Covid). My son would cry & scream every morning because he wanted to stay home with me, and I need to say that his teacher Karen, literally goes above & beyond to make him feel comfortable and safe. That is what you would want in a teacher, and she is just great. My son looks forward to going to school now because he knows she is patient with him, and he knows that immediately she will play with him to calm him down within the first hour of him coming there. They take Covid safety precautions very seriously, and you are not allowed to pass the gate when you drop off your child. The children wear masks, and they are distanced from each other. I am comfortable with sending my child there and glad I made that decision.

My daughter was so fortunate to be able to attend Keiki Care Center a few years ago. She is currently a thriving first grader. The quality of care and instruction by the teachers and teacher's aides was top notch. I fondly remember accompanying my daughter on many field trips around the island. The physical environment of the campus was lovely, and we loved to watch the caterpillars turn into butterflies near the huge crown flower tree by the parking lot. I love plants, so I really enjoyed the landscape on campus. The owner/director, Cheryl, would always be so positive and cheerful. What a great role model for the keiki! Other things that we made note of while looking a different preschools was that at Keiki Care, there was nice airflow going into the spacious classrooms, and there were numerous areas for the children to play/learn outdoors, including a grassy area, a playground, and a patio-like area for riding on preschool tricyles. I also liked the rotational exploration centers in her classroom.Thank you so much, Keiki Care Center, for setting a positive first experience for my daughter's education!

My child attended Keiki Care Ctr in Pearl City, as did two people I know prior to my child's enrollment. I now wish I had spoken to them before I made my decision. I chose this school with good intentions and for the location as grandma can do a pick up and drop off as well. But I ended up leaving afterwards so not the full two years. Things to consider -1. This school is not accredited. Although their site claims to be working towards accreditation, it's been years and still no accreditation. Parents might want to consider Federal and State accreditation standards that are set for developmental milestones of a child in compliance to early education standards. A good place to find accredited schools in Hawaii is here: http://www.naeyc.org/academy/accreditation/search2.The small handful of teachers and aides, including director, that I personally met at KCC are not professionally trained or hold a degree in the field of early childhood education - although they have experience working at other preschools or daycare. This training is important when it comes to detecting learning/behavioral problems in kids. This is the difference between a quality preschool and an overrated daycare that charges high preschool rates. 3. KCC is a for-profit business with high fundraising needs. Attendance in the parent meetings are encouraged so moms/dads can be part of the "school community" but they are really centered on fundraising, which included some $7,000 (for classroom computers), a teacher's fund and a teacher's appreciation fund, etc, which amounted to a goal of over $10K for the year. I do favor fundraising for trips/activities to offset costs, but I don't understand the justification of school improvement/supplies when my kids won't be around too long to benefit. Costs like this should come out of tuition. Consider non-profit preschools where money go back into the school.4. Student-teacher ratio. Don't be fooled by the high teacher-to-student ratio promise. The staff has different hours, so an early morning aide comes in by 6:30am, then the classroom teachers come in an hour after each other, then a part-time aide comes at noon, with a teacher leaving by 4. Confused yet? This issue alone creates tremendous communication problems when trying to get daily info on your child. This was particularly frustrating to me and to my friend whose son attended this school. Sorry, I am sure some might find decent qualities in this school based on their own experience. I didn't and neither did my friends. We all pulled our children out after a year for better preschools.

This is a great center to send your child. I was able to meet the owner, who is very kind. The staff here are all great! We came from another preschool and we're glad we switched to them. In fact, we wish we took our child here from the beginning! Very patient and knowledgeable teachers, staff and director.

This is a really great school. My second daughter is now in her second year at this school. When she started she was not talking and her teacher, very honestly, told me she needed speech therapy - and I am so grateful because now she can speak just as well as her peers. My first daughter spent two years there and was very well prepared for kindergarten. The teachers are the best, they are open and honest and always take the time to listen. If you are looking for a school that feels like a family then this is the best choice!

After reading some discouraging reviews here regarding the staff at KCCOH, I find myself a little upset that the school could be rated so low by some. I sent my son to Keiki Care for 3 years and grew to love the staff and their curriculum absolutely set up my son for success in kindergarten. When my son was in the 2's class, he became potty trained and made close relationships with his friends in the class and absolutely loved reading time. When he moved up to the 3's class, he maintained friendships and built new ones as well as became more involved in new activities and continued loving to be read to. His last year in the 4's class, he still continued to value his friendships, became more active in building and learning and was prepared for kindergarten testing without my even knowing it! He still values his friendships from his KCCOH friends (as do I with the parents!) and we still reminisce about the things they did in preschool.

Wow this person. Basically put down the person who posted the comments and they work there. Not professional. If that's all true well then don't need to write an essay about it. Most people say this takes too long waiting on paper work eh. Whatever some are false.I read this and thought you are so unprofessional. I had to post this comment. Had to.:/You don't need to bicker about someone's experience or someone's comment hello!!!! Each person has free will. And I don't let one or two comments stop me from choosing cause.i want to check it out for myself there is a lot of good comments here. But after your rude comment I will not be choosing or recommending this to anyone. Most business would comment back professionally and say Hi so and so sorry your experience with us wasn't the best please email or message me and blah blah and give us some suggestions.Or something that would help people's outlook on there bad experiences or at least make it better fail. Cheryl.xD

I previously wrote a review that just praised this preschool. Since then, my daughter was asked not to return to this preschool because she was too much for the staff to handle. Please be advised, the school is not capable to handle any child that is over active or that may not fit within the "normal" standards of development. My daughter is not mentally retarded nor does she have any severe acting out behaviors. She is slightly developmentally delayed in her cognitive skills, active, and at times, can be a bit defiant. She was adopted through the foster care system and has already been dealt a more difficult hand then most. Unfortunately, the school is unable to care for her. This is sad. Our family has supported the school with so much of our time and efforts and have known much of the staff for over a decade now, but the new staff are not as capable as the school was in the past. Not every child develops at the same speed and not every child acts and follows directions the same. And it is especially difficult when my child is one of the youngest in the classroom as well!!!Overall, we were burned by the school and felt a sense of rejection for my daughter. It's a first to feel heartbroken from a place that we previously saw as being a nurturing environment. Sad...............

I can't rave enough about this school. The teachers here are truly "aunties" where they love & treat my children like family; but at the same time, receive the necessary tools and development to prepare them for elementary school. My oldest is now in the first grade and is recognized as one of the top three readers in her class. What's notable to mention is that one of the other top readers also went to Keiki Care! My second daughter currently attends this school and she just absolutely loves it! The teachers are SO approachable and communicates very well about my daughter's developments. I also would know what my daughter does daily through the daily logs and also through conversations with her. If you're looking for the Best preschool on the island, send them here.

I wish I could give this school zero stars. Very disappointing... The owner and teachers have poor communication with parents. They are not truthful with parents about how children are doing. They are very judgmental toward the children. They withhold children's personal information and documents from parents. I do not recommend anyone send their children to this school. When it comes to young children, you need caregivers who are open, honest and approachable. For the good of your children PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM HERE.
