What a wonderful get together with the community and discovering businesses. There was a free trolley stopping at fun stops along Waialae Ave. The actual party/event at the school was filled with food, crafts, free stuffs and more. Found the Yelp tent! The school's restroom was open in case one needed it.All along Waialae Ave and it's side streets had sidewalk friendly displays. Almost like a long block party with traffic. There is a lighted tree behind the fire station in the evenings, too.A well organized event.

Cruising Kaimuki...When you do this on the regular regardlessly you need to keep it real on "Keep It Kaimuki Saturday" which celebrates the local business not just on Waialae but all of Kaimuki on the Saturday the day after Black Friday which is Small Business Saturday and what better place to do that than right here in Kaimuki! I usually am able to take part of it after my work shift and was so grateful to have the time off this year and knew instantly this was the place for me to shop small and local for the holiday season as we are so lucky to have that here in Hawaii and convinced a friend to tag along which worked out perfectly as she parked at an aunt's house for free parking just a block away from it all...yay!We started at The Local General Store then cruised around the back to Little Vessel Donut down to Popoki + Tea and made our way to Ali'iolani School for the craft fair where we found so many wonderful crafters along with activities for kids. As we walked to burn off what we ate so that we have room for lunch at Brick Fire Tavern which was so wonderful though after the struggle was real to walk uphill to the top of Waialae as the timing of the Trolley was the fate as we heard it approaching taking shoppers around for free was just the perfect break we so needed.Getting off at the top of the hill was exactly what we needed and explored further as I got some items at Bead It which gave a discounted deal on this day only, visited Red Pineapple for all things Christmas and down to Daily Whisk Matcha for the best place to chill while enjoying the premium drinks the craft with each cup. There is so much to do and see in Kaimuki and we did so much more than noted here as my friend also works in Chubbies so we all know the love that's really real here.Thank you!

"Keeping it real, keeping it fun" Keep It Kaimuki Saturday seems to be the current incarnation of what was once Kaimuki Kanikapila which was held a few times on Waialae Ave many, many years ago. This Kaimuki festival is being held this year on November 30th and runs from approximately 10am to 4pm. The heart of the festival for all things Kaimuki is the Kaimuki Community Park on Waialae Ave. (The one across the street from Happy Day Chinese restaurant). There is live entertainment, a food truck rally, pop ups and over 40 Kaimuki merchants that are offering special discounts and some also selling special Kaimuki merchandise. There is also free valet parking at the old Queen Liliuokalani School off of Koko Head ave. Of course you gotta zero-in on da food truck rally. Local kine grinds makes for a happy belly. Good thing the event stretches several blocks so you can burn off those calories and not roll all the way home. This is definitely one of the nice ways to spend a weekend day and get to know and enjoy one of the coolest neighborhoods in Honolulu. Lots of shopping, lots of eating, lots of cool things to see. Check out the uniquely painted utility boxes in the area primarily on Waialae ave. Kudos to Street Art Hawaii for spearheading this beautification. Kaimuki was the first community to beautify the area in this unique way. Support local, support Kaimuki, enjoy!
