Great surfing beach in Waianae. Easy access to beach. The area is fairly clean and very popular amongst the local. There restroom pavilions onsite as well as life guard. Pretty cool beach to spend the day at without being crowded out at the tourist traps.

I am basing my review on the "hike" due to a trail posted on AllTrails.com. For someone looking for a hike, this is NOT a hiking trail. I got my satisfaction by walking 45 minutes to Kea'au. When I got there, the "trail" is a driveway to the parking lot. Kea'au is basically a scenic resting stop and park (no swings or slides) on a beachfront. Waves are big and beautiful. Beware. The closer you go to the water while in the grass, the swampier the grass becomes in certain areas, due to random ginormous waves. Great place to park and picnic.

I just wanna write this quick. As of today, 02/11/16 this hard to reach beach (I could break out in a rap tune here, but I just wanna get this in) is a two star beach, with only five reviews. I just laugh. Two of the one star reviews are because the writers (I use this word liberally!) want it to stay secluded! Man, where's the Aloha in that? You gotta drive all the way to the west side, and just past Kaneana Cave you'll see the beach. It will be empty (what's not to like if you want time alone or with the SO). White sand with pristine waves, turquoise water, great foamy white wash, and extended soft sandy bottom, or you can stay in Waikiki. Plan a day (I'll do it for you!): Explore Kaneana Cave; Hike up Upper Makua Caves; Hit Kea'au beach!!!;Take a refreshing shower at any of the other beach parks on your way back to Waianae (Kea'au Beach has no showers, and don't forget beach towels!); Hit up Eli's for some great, cheap, local grindz. If you start early? You'll have time for a nap in the afternoon, and all evening to thank me. Man! This stuff is easy! Aloha

Stunning!!This was probably my favorite of all beaches in west side today. Not sure If it was because of the waves, the powder soft sand or the background. Or the fact that it was empty!! Perhaps all of the above!! Got here around 4 pm in the evening today and I almost stayed through the sunset!! The beach was stunning!! Major waves! Stunning backdrop. I was shocked to be the only one here but wow. What a view. I got pulled in a few times from just standing there but it didn't scare me enough! Such a stunning, secluded little spot! I didn't stop by the park facilities but if you walk up about five minutes, you'll get the best view and the best beach all to yourself!! It's beyond stunning!!

Sunday March 22, 2015 I arrived at Kea'au Beach Park to celebrate my little niece's second birthday. It was hot and slightly windy on this day. There are camping areas as well as restroom facilities (I have not visited the restroom). I witnessed people enjoying the beach near the sand area and also witnessed a male surfer riding the waves. There were several people admiring the view of the ocean...myself included.I'm unsure of whose in charge of taking care of the beach parks but I noticed that majority of the grass area was all brown. Just certain areas had the nice green grass. Many years ago Kea'au Beach Park was crowded with homeless individuals. Now that the park is free of the homeless it just needs to be up kept with the grounds keeping. Make the place more presentable then there will be more family gatherings of picnics or parties. Of course everyone must do their share of cleaning up the area for future uses.

AlohaReader: This place is Childhood Summers for us Westsiders. And just a beautiful place to spend time and make memories. Long days and longer nites. We don't do much camping myhubby& I any more, but our extended ohanas do. And we stop to by to enjoy the living energy this beach has to influence. The pond is awesome and does gets rough. Ample room to camp. Just bring your Personal hygiene and tent, and relax to the best Sunsets in the world

My first time actually spending some time at this beach park. Beautiful sunset and the sand is soooo soft. Nice to just cruise at and look for sea shells. The mountains and ocean are very beautiful and relaxing to look at. Appreciating God's creation

The main purpose of this beach park would be camping or stopping by to slurp down the plate lunch or shave ice you picked up in Waianae (hello picnic tables). There is a nice sandy beach that seems almost untouched relative to the more popular beach to the south. If my knee could tolerate tent camping (acl reconstruction has failed 2x), I would go for spot 4 as it is the least central. Beautiful backdrop and views from 360 degrees.

Super awesome scenery. The campgrounds in this area are large and feels spacious between other camp areas. There are large for bouncer water slides. I'm not so sure how you would get in the ocean though because there's rocks all around. The bathrooms are horrible. In the Stalls they are not up kept with toilet tissue. There are no trash containers for feminine products. Clean women should wrap there used feminine items and take it out with them and not throw it in the corner of the stall...so gross ... other than the poor bathroom conditions this is a cool beach to Lounge at. The grass is well-maintained which is very great because everyone can enjoy it.

We arrived shortly after midnight and set up for the weekend, the sounds of the waves breaking just 100 feet from us was the most relaxing thing for us! We lounged through our first night! The downfalls: the bathroom was disgusting, there were big water bugs about two inches long all over the walls and floor! The camp sites nearest to the bathrooms were saturated in pee water that was draining from the comfort stations and you can smell the nastiness from the bathroom 5 sites away!
