They don't sell poke bowls. That's what the lady behind the counter said. She said people go across the street for that. There's nothing across the street that sells poke bowls. Only went here because it was within walking distance. The stranger who greeted me was very friendly, possibly really high and most likely a gang member. I just went to Kam shopping center instead which meant I had to drive. Makes me question if this business is a front for something else. Saw some hand to hand cash exchange. Good thing I was wearing the same colors and I passed as a friendly.

Great local neighborhood market for fresh poke! The poke is very fresh and there are a variety to choose from. The price at are reasonable, as well. The store also carries some vegetables and Filipino food items. The also have a few bread and pastries from local bakeries. The storefront isn't much to look at and it's a little disorganized inside but go in and you might find something to satisfy your hunger.

DO NOT GO HERE !!!! TERRIBLE FOOD HANDLING!! Serious health code . So, I never ever write reviews , but I felt that I HAD TO DO THIS. Yesterday I went here to get Kalbi for a party. When I looked in the kalbi , THERE WAS A BIG DEAD FLY. So I told the uncle out of respect , away from other customers , hey there's a dead fly in the kalbi . So he USED THE TONGS to pick up the fly...Then he turned around RINSED THE TONGs(no soap jus a little water for about 4 seconds under water)THEN with the SAME TONGS IN HAND STUCK THE TONGS IN BACK INTHE KALBI AND MIXED IT AND SAID "Ok so how much kalbi u want" I informed him of what he did in shock /disbelief. I told him what he jus did and ain't buying he said "ok" Then I went to the register and told the Chinese guy (which is also no help) what his worker did. He jus said "oh ok I'll tell him" WTF kind of shit is this! Idk I used to always come here for kalbi but now ...no way in hell I'll get anything from here again! And I'll make sure who Evers bringing kalbi or chicken to the party To NOT GO HERE! Terrible service and gross food handling!

Cheap eats! Cheap eats! Come here if you are find yourself hunting for a bargain on cheap options and want an alternative to fast food nation.I was in the Kalihi neighborhood with a co-worker on a brisk Thursday afternoon during lunch hours. He and I were there literally across the street, when I saw the neon open sign and why do you say to check things out. I know it is the specials they had displayed on the window and I initially thought, wow five dollars for lunch! That's cheap for lunch! For five dollars, you can't really beat that, just because an average please launch can cost you the goods seven dollars and over these days. Even a mini version of a plate lunch canceled you back six dollars or more. With that said, I was interested in seeing what this place has. I knew that the Yelp reading on this business was a solid four stars so it had to be pretty good already. Kay's is really a hole in the wall place that does not seem to get the foot traffic that it wants to get. It serves the upper Kalihi valley community and it provides an option to those who want something else other than your typical fast food stuff you can find elsewhere in the area. The overall experience here at Kay's can be categorized as pretty interesting and short lived. I was here for about 10 minutes to get take out and that was about it. Kay's seemed to be a really small restaurant, if you can call it one, with some tables and chairs for those customers who wish to dine at the establishment. I think they do more business catering than selling plate lunches, but you can't beat $5 lunch specials though. They advertised this on their window, which caught my eye. The lady who served me was nice and friendly, which was always a good thing. She was behind the counter with the Panda Express thing going on, with various entrees in separate trays to scoop from. I just told her i wanted the beef curry, which was about $5. For the value paid, you get a good helping of it and it was a good deliciousness for a meal. They have local comfort food as well as Filipino options as well. I didn't really pay attention, but this place serves as a small market place for those who shop for groceries too in the heart of Kalihi. Kay's Kitchen and Catering is located at 2326 Kalihi Street in the heart of Kalihi Valley. They accept major credit cards, which is always a plus nowadays. Cash is always a pleasure as well. Kay's is a quaint hole in the wall that well maintained and definitely a place to come to when you want something a little different and want to patronize small businesses.Parking here can be very limited, Mainly street parking would be your best bet. If you are like me, TheBus route 7 or 10 would get you there in a jiffy. This place is a definitely an ethnic store you probably would find anywhere throughout urban Honolulu. They usually are not busy, especially when you see their location. They sell poke and it's pretty fresh. While this place can be out of the way to some, it can be sketch at night. Be careful when you go there. Supporting local businesses is fun, especially when its pretty close to your workplace. After an hour of playing Pokémon Go, it was definitely cool to bump into this place and see their specials and the fact that they are relatively cheaper than most places around the area. $5 can't be beat though for sure. Check this place out and you'll be fine. The curry was not as fantastic as I thought it would be, but again, $5 for lunch in Honolulu is pretty budget friendly.5.0 stars for the budget friendly, 3.0 stars for the ambiance and overall experience.Support local!B

This place is your typical filipino store in the heart of kalihi "valley"they have produce, they have filipino products, everything, to bring u back to Philippines, this shop is secluded along the sidewalk, and the crowdyness of kalihi, its hard to spot unless you know the spot, this place is a fish market, they have poke, kilawen, everything, you can eat that goes well with beer, and just relax as pupus, they, have live seafood, and basiclly seafood, but the thing i found interesting when i came by here to have a poke stop, since foodland was lready closed for poke, i saw that they have something called Ahi Lumpia, for .75 cents, it was pretty deals so i ordered 3 to try it out, it was awesome, just to make sure u have sweet chili sauce with you it really compliments the ahi lumpia, its a big slab of ahi wrapped in egg wrap, and fried to a golden brown, its worth a try, you might have mix reviews with it but i approve it with my pallet, downside they only make it on some days so its good to call if they still have, save the travel up the valley, downside to is the spicy tuna, tasted a little old i guess cause i got it 8;00pm, but overall IM A FAN of da ahi lumpia

This place is off the hook. Seven different kinds of Poke - all very fresh. Good raw fish selection and great side dishes. Picked up some banana lumpia that's excellent.

They have good deals and lot of variety at this store. Unfortunately the customer service side has gone down from when we first started going there. Seems some customers get more help than others. And it's not because they are busy. A simple hello is fine when you walk in. A stare is NOT. I live in the neighborhood, so I try to support local. At least show me you want my business. Thank you.

I'm not comfortable shopping at this little market. They asked people to shop without a masks. With the store being small, it's not safe when people come in without a mask and they don't enforce it. When I asked the cashier why she's allowing it, she liked at me and smiled and said nothing.

If you like fresh seafood and really bad service from the management this is the place for you. The only reason I will consider returning is the service and attitude of the lovely Hispanic gentleman. Avoid the large, white rude man at all costs....he's pathetic. The people waiting in front of me all agreed that we wouldn't return if we had to deal with him again. Just a horrible person.
