Katsu Midori is one of my favorite restaurants in Hawaii. The servers are always kind and consistently check in to make sure everything is great. I love how easy it is to order on the iPad and it's pretty straight forward. My go to's would be the delicious flavorful corn, Anago, seared salmon belly, uni, miso cod, and mayo scallops. These fishes are always so fresh and is just a bite of pure bliss. The tuna here is a hit or miss in terms of freshness so I don't order it as much whenever I'm here.I highly recommend a reservation if you plan on dining here since it gets booked up swiftly.

Been here a bunch of times and each time it never disappoints! My go to sushi spot for sure. The food is on point. Fish portions are much bigger than the rice underneath it, and tastes fresh everytime. This time I came here for an anniversary and we had the chef special set as well as the Yokozuna set. Oh and also the crab miso soup where you get half a crab, which almost fell out of the bowl because it was so big. Check out the photos for your viewing pleasure. The ambiance was great. Got to sit right up front at the counter and the sushi chefs were very friendly. It made the entire dining experience more enjoyable.Use open table to book reservations as they fill up fast and walk ins are difficult to accommodate. Check em out at the entrance of Waikiki in the Prince hotel.

A delicious little treasure hidden inside the Prince Waikiki hotel. As a local, I tend to shy away from dining in Waikiki but for certain restaurants...this is one of them! Delicious and fresh fish awaits you at Katsu Midori Sushi.Let's knock out the simple logistics:-Reservations recommended-Walk ins are accepted but not guaranteed-Valet Parking ($8 cash), self park (~$2), or self park along the harbor ($1/hour)-attire (seems like as long as you don't show up in beach wear, you'll be ok)There's three areas in this restaurant. One is seating in front of the sushi chefs, 2nd is in the back with the iPads to self order, and 3rd is next to the conveyor belt. They also have a private room with a door for a more private experience.I personally come here o get my otoro fix because it's the best I've had on the island and the tuna deluxe set has a bit of everything. Their salmon set is also super fresh and delicious. For those who love maki rolls, they have the dragon roll which is DELICIOUS by the way! I didn't get a photo to this but trust me, get it and you'll love the presentation and taste.I'm a customer here of 6+ years and I still come back again and again. It's worth it and the prices are reasonable. Plus, free hot tea

Came back for a friends birthday and was very happy with the service. All the sushi I ordered was really good. The scallop basil mayo was a 10/10. Even though it was seared and had sauce on the scallop, you can still taste the quality of it. It had a hint of sweetness and was very tender. I highly recommend it. Overall, I would highly recommend getting any of their sets or anything seared! It's really good. I'll be coming back for sure :)!

I was staying nearby at the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites and saw this sushi restaurant within walking distance. I was celebrating a birthday, so we walked over and arrived right when they opened for dinner at 5 PM to see if we could get seated. The host said there weren't any open seats but offered to put my name down for 8 PM instead if I was willing to return later, which worked out for us.At 8 PM, we were seated promptly and ready to order using the tablet on each table. We ordered the Tokusen set, which came with 11 pieces of sushi and a side dish. It was about $42 and a pretty good value for the quality and portion. I wouldn't say the sushi is premium, but it's better than decent.Overall, it's a good sushi place if you're nearby.

Katsumidori is tucked inside the Prince Waikiki Hotel. We were lucky enough to snag a same day reservation, Can't comment on parking since we walked, but the location itself is easy to get to. Also think they have parking validation if you park at the hotel itself. Salmon Skin Salad (A-): Crispy, flavorful salmon skin. generous portion too. Great for sharing or just snacking on between bites of sushi.Assorted Sushi Yokozuna (A): 13 pieces plus a hand roll, so definitely a good way to try a variety. The jumbo sea eel stood out--different (large piece and a lighter color) from what we've had before, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Assorted Seared Sushi (A+): Five pieces of perfectly seared goodness. Each one had that slightly smoky, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. We have since gone back multiple times to order just this for takeout. Overall, solid sushi spot with quality cuts and good variety. Worth checking out if you're in the area!

While doing a staycation at the Prince hotel, we did not want to go far and didn't feel like a buffet so made a reservation here. The restaurant looks small at first when you enter but there are more tables in the back which is where we sat. Ordering is done either via the tablet at each table or with the servers. I was debating what to get and finally decided to take the plunge and get the Yokozuna which is an assortment of 13 sushi and 1 hand roll. It is almost $50 at the time of this review in February 2025 but it was worth it. I say that because the quality was high and big pieces of fish. If you order dishes ala carte you'll probably end up paying more so just go for it in the beginning and get the Yokozuna. The two standouts were the fatty tuna which was very oily and melted in my mouth, and the eel which was so soft. If anything get those two! Oh I forgot that I started with the arajiru miso soup which had pieces of fish. They use the fish bones and scraps for the stock which tasted great but I had to work a lot to avoid bones. Next time I'll get the clam miso soup which is less work. I decided to treat myself to dessert. Although not Japanese in any way, the Katsu parfait looked good at the time. It is basically Frosted Flakes with ice cream, strawberry, chocolate, and whip cream. Simple but it tasted better than it should! I don't know why, maybe it took me back to childhood and I haven't had Frosted Flakes in a long time. The food came out alarmingly fast after ordering. It was like fast food timing but high end quality. The servers were great and available to give suggestions. This might be my new favorite sushi place on island!

Like so many locals, we rarely come to Waikiki and we hadn't been to the Hawaii Prince to eat sushi since the Japanese restaurant was still located upstairs. Google tells me that more upscale place was called "Hakone" and it closed in 2016. Whoops. So not only could we not find the place, but we were expecting a totally different restaurant. I knew something was really different when I realized that the cashier (who was very focused on tabulating a big stack of receipts) was also the hostess. We wanted to try out this spot after seeing friends ordering takeout omakase from here during the pandemic. I assumed it was fancy. Anyway, Katsumidori is pretty casual and chill, you order from a tablet, service is no nonsense and quick, food hits the table as it is prepared even if the sequencing doesn't make sense. There's a lot of Japanese food in Honolulu and we didn't think this place stood out in any way. Fish cuts are generous, but for someone like me who eats with his eyes, I was disappointed that some of the plates looked tossed together. My tamago was falling apart. The $40 "All about Salmon" was apparently quite good, seared sushi and tempura plates were fine, the green mini salad was actually delicious, but the negitoro cut roll was really off-putting with a piping of what read like a very fluffy fish mousse on top. Texture eaters will definitely want to stay away from that dish. Valet parking and self parking were also both full so we had to park at the Ilikai and run to the hotel through the rain. Food was not bad, not amazing. I'm sure we just ordered wrong as the reviews here are otherwise pretty strong.

It's been a long time since my first review of this restaurant and it is still consistently one of my go to sushi restaurants. It's a good combination of good service, good food and decent prices. They are very popular though so it is often booked a month out, but once in a while you can snag a last minute reservation on open table. It's located in the Prince hotel. There is valet, self parking, and some street parking available. The food is always so good and fish always tastes fresh. I have never had a bad meal here. The prices have definitely increased from the first time but it's still very reasonable given how everything was gotten most expensive now a days. The service was quick and attentive and our waiter was very friendly. If you like a variety of sushi they have great premade sets or you can pick and choose. The Yokazuna is always a good choice and has enough from most people to share. I love the portions sizes especially of the salmon belly. I definitely recommend coming here for all sushi or seafood lovers.
