We there and found out they moved from the old location to the present location down the street from we're they used to be located. The location is larger and with parking area and restrooms. The office Staff was very friendly and helpful when you get they have signs instructed not to enter until you are called. When I went there was no lines so got there waited behind the red line then was instructed to come in, then asked why I was there and then the counter person asked to I.D. and the preprinted form that we did online and printed before we got there. After a few questions my Holo Holo card was handled and made within not more then 10 mins got my new card with picture!

If you are disabled, make sure you get the handivan card first, because a yearly pass on the bus system is $35 per year if you have the handivan card first. If you don't have the handivan card, a disability yearly pass costs $45. They are decent people working there, not like the hateful people at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles / Driver's License Office.

(Traveled 09/26/22 MO @ 2:00pm): Literally a bus transfer center in the city of Kalihi where you were required to get off the bus and wait for another if you were coming into this depot!I ended up at the Kalihi Transit Center sort of by accident but also on purpose if that made any sense whatsoever. On this particular day, I was getting familiar with the various bus routes initially for my goddaughter/youngest niece and then simply for myself since I planned on spending more time on Oahu in the very near future. Having spent many summers on the island in my younger years, I learned that The Bus routes were simple to learn and easy to understand. It's been many years since those times, so I needed to reacquaint myself with the hopes of having less dependency on a vehicle. Would this major hub of the bus lines be as helpful and informative as I remembered!?PURCHASEN/A this instance ($0.00): I had already purchased my reloadable HOLO Card with plenty of credits on it, so I was good. Otherwise, that was the only thing you would've purchased here. FYI... as of the date of this review, the single-fare rate was $3.00 which included up to 2 1/2 hours of unlimited transfers.SERVICEUnless you needed to purchase a pass from the ticket office/window or you specifically asked a question to one of the bus drivers as they pulled in to either unload their vehicle or pick up new passengers, generally speaking there wasn't much in the way of service being offered. The posted route signage was pretty self-explanatory as long as you knew where you were going https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=oY4YzEoW8IttWdsQy7AWjA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw.PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance)There appeared to be sufficient spots at a nearby lot if you decided to drive yourself here. Otherwise, I observed mostly riders being dropped off or who were already on a bus whose route ended here to transfer to another bus as in the case for me - 'nuff said!ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEA no-nonsense clean bus depot of sorts with some concrete and wooden bench seats, restrooms https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rEvmSWgjczVADLOcW4w6nQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, a ticket office, and various posted information. Plenty of natural lighting since you were in a fully-exposed outdoor area while street and structure lights filled in the rest in the evening. There were no TVs nor background music. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=zhNOJrmfxj5GkeH08S2Cmg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9VwATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLThe Kalihi Transit Center was perfectly fine for what it was and had no issues if I had to come through this way again. If you were trying to get to other far-reaching parts of the island, more than likely you would pass through here. I would've liked some clarification as to why all passengers had to disembark their respective bus as they arrived here and then wait for the next one that came along. In my particular case, I just wanted to stay on and get back to Hawaii Kai which I was already on the correct bus route. Oh well, I ended up taking another route line to explore more of the island and then returned later to catch the proper route home. Since I didn't exactly speak with the bus drivers or anyone in the office, I had no service experience whatsoever. Again, everything was pretty self-explanatory. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $0.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, although I didn't purchase anything, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

This place is the hub for downtown transportation. Located in the beginning of Kalihi right off the freeway. If you need a senior or disability Holo card this is the place to come. ** Before you stand in line don't forget to go inside the small office to grab an application. They should put a table outside so that people can see that they need to complete theses applications to purchase theses Holo Cards. The cashiers are nice and will guide you through the process. You can also load your Holo cards here by paying for daily rides at $5.50 a pop. Your first card is free then it's $2.00 for additional cards. Many busses go through here and there is a good size parking lot if you work in town and want yo leave your car. Great idea.

This is my first time here. Fellow Yelper suggested I get my Holo card and I thought why not maybe someday I might actually be able to ride the rail but in the meantime it would be nice to be able to hop on the bus at any time. You go online and register for your Holo card. Since I am a senior, and I don't mean high school senior, it said we needed to come to the Kalihi transit center office to pick up a card. It turns out that's because they need to take your photo.Using my trusty navigation on my phone I was able to easily find the Transit office. Lots of parking, a short walk across the street and a very capable person is there to assistInformation checked, photo taken and card produced all within 20 minutes. Very efficient. I think I came at the right time because there were only two people ahead of me and when I left there were about 10 people behind me.Looks like the Holo card will be the way to go

Kalihi Transit Center is within walking distance to TheBus Honolulu facility grounds. There are public restrooms on the premises for the bus drivers as well as the TheBus customers. Kalihi Transit Center is the transfer point for individuals who need to go to Waipahu, Liliha, Kalihi, Kahala Mall, and UH Manoa.I have only passed though the Kalihi Transit Center since I was riding TheBus coming from Pearl City and going towards Kalihi. Viewing from the bus I took notice that the transit center was very clean. It also gets crowded at certain designated areas.I do know that TheBus Pass Office is also located at the Kalihi Transit Center. Customers are able to purchase their yearly bus pass, disability bus pass, and even senior bus pass. That reminds me I should purchase a yearly bus pass instead of buying a monthly bus pass.36/100

The City could do better for our Kupuna. It's so sad that The Rail senior year passes have to be done here instead of other sites like the satellite city halls.

I wanted to rate it a 5 star but because of this Asian lady employee, I won't. She gave a bad attitude to me while I was not paying attention and pretending to act friendly. My mom saw that Asian employee rolled her eyes at me just because I made a mistake on the paper I was signing. She has to improve her service to customers and show respect. Overall, its a good place.

We received our first new senior holo card and the guy that helped us was very patient in giving us guidance. One thing we noticed while standing outside in line was that the building exterior was overdue for cleaning. The build up of fumes from the buses were evident in the structure. For safety and medical reasons, frequent pressure wash or some kind of heavy duty cleaning should be done asap before this can turn into a health issue for the general public.
