Fresh fish, made to order and prices that can't be beat? Look no further than Kainalu surf shop. I know what you thinking isn't this like those local surf apparel shop? No, it's so much more than that. This is a local own shop, where they actually care about and are from the community they are serving. They have fresh fish caught right here, and they even provide old school style delicacies straight from the ocean that reminds me of my tutu. They have dry ahi, lomi oio, opihi, even raw tako the old school Hawaiian style.

I violently crave their spicy poke bowl and I am not usually one for spicy ahi! Served on rice, pickled onion, taegu for 12.99- freshly cut and so ʻono! I stumbled upon this place for an acai bowl but seen that there is so much more sold here. They sell Daves Ice Cream, shave ice, acai bowls, surf merch, pro club shirts, small selection of fishing lure, and all the things.If on the west side, Id highly recommend!

On a lark, we stopped here to check out whether they sold beach chairs. They didn't, but they do rent them. No interest in that. But what did interest us was their snack bar which featured milk shakes among other specialties. We both ordered a sugar cookie caramel milk shake with crumbled cookies on top. What a great decision that was. The milk shake was incredibly good! We really enjoyed this place. Nice people and an outstanding milk shake.

Omg. I was having the worst day, and it was almost time to pick up my child from school nearby. I've been meaning to come here to pick up some Opae for the longest time to try it out.I came in here looking to just pick up the opae. I ended up seeing that they have shave ice and poke bowls.The laulau poke combo caught my eye. It was a bit expensive considering I was still going to get the opae, but with the day I was having...I said eff it.I made a huge mistake because it was so good. Not only did it turn my day all the way around, but it also made me want to come in here more EVERYDAY. What am I going to do now? I told my coworker I'm going to work here part-time so I can get a discount on the food if it's not free when I'm working.The poke was freshly made and of excellent quality. The laulau was also homemade and a bit small, but you can tell it was well thought out when it was put together. There was a nice piece of fat in there for flavor and a nice size piece of pork considering the size of the laulau as a whole.I don't like that I live nearby because of the temptation! Great job on the excellent setup. BTW. I noticed immediately when I walked in that it smelled nice inside the store. Random, i know. It wasn't the food I was smelling. I couldn't place it, but it was noticeable and a pleasant surprise. So much so that I said it outloud. This is truly a hidden gem.

I came here for food. Yes, I said food.The Poke Nachos here aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. Fresh fish and sauce on top of crispy chips.So simple but so good. Check out the photo to see how good it looks. It tastes even better.

I didn't realize it til later but they really upcharged the f**k outta the cookie butter milkshake. I wanna say ever since that foodie posted a video - now the keiki (small) is $10 and some change and the larger one is $11 and some change even though their board literally says $7.99 and $8 something. Besides the price it is good.

You will not know how special this place is until you get there. Yes, its a surf shop. Yes, the clothing is on point. I bought a cool shirt from here. Shave ice is the kind I like, and they got the extras that go with it. Sunglasses. Bodyboards. Fins. Mask & Snorkels. Boom!But what you dont know is that THEY SELL POKE BOWLS TOO! Yup. Poke by the pound. Poke Bowls. And our favorite...POKE NACHOS. If you dont believe me, go look for yourself. I went there plenty of times just for the poke. IYKYK. And now you know.

Best shave ice ever! Shave ice was super smooth. Great flavors. The ice cream was delicious too. We had one and coconut ice cream.

The shop has many different options to buy. They offer rentals. I went for the shaved ice and the young lady recommended some fantastic flavors. We love supporting local businesses.

My first experience coming into Kainalu! First and foremost, local people support local businesses. However, teach your staff the meaning of Aloha and Respect! I waited patiently in line, and when I got to the counter the young local girl walked passed me (as if I was an invisible person) and sat at the stool and began scrolling through her phone. I piped up and said "do you not see me" and she replied "oh yah!"Until we can get the service we are paying for and supporting local people I will not be back.
