Good selection but they do need to update their website. Since they showed a selection of hello kitty fabric but there was none. Service was great and staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Fabric selection was great

A fantastic selection of fabrics difficult to get in the mainland. I think I came home with 12 yards of fabric.

Service-- 2/5Prices-- 2/5Selection-- 3/5Accessibility-- 4/5Kaimuki dry goods is a mostly okay fabric store. They offer some apparel fabrics in a midst of cotton/quilting fabrics, which I appreciate for the island. The prices are expensive, especially compared to online prices so I don't shop here often. $19/yd for a cotton spandex jersey is insane and unreasonable. The service is consistently subpar. I've only had aloof, confronting, and sassy interactions with multiple employees at various trips. Parking can be rough but luckily there's always been a spot when I've visited. Unless they are the only store that has what I need, I won't be returning.

Fascinating store; I recently visited for the first time as my mother wanted fabric for some new projects. I felt like I walked into 1983; this was clearly an old clothing store at some point and has transitioned to fabrics. It's so colorful and cozy inside with carpet and fabrics all over. They also have an area of sewing machines, there were people working on projects including digital embroidery. Prices are good and charged by the yard. I loved the selection of popular scifi patterns like Star Wars. I docked one star for the odd/rude service we got, at least we could laugh about it later. Their signage and line organization makes zero sense, but you better believe ever customer present got yelled at for not following the signs. Despite this, it's a fun place to buy fabric.

I chose Kaimuki Dry Goods because it's local and I heard they service sewing machines.I called and left a message on July 17. No one called me back, so we went down to talk to someone regarding servicing my machine. When we walked in, some guy was sitting behind a desk doing nothing, and Nancy showed me a new sewing machine and said it might be better just to get a new sewing machine. She was nice, but I wasn't looking for a new sewing machine! So I left a message, no one returned my call, when we got to their store, it wasn't busy, so they have no excuse as to why no one returned my call.So guess what? A WEEK LATER, someone called me regarding my message! I had to tell her that I already got my sewing machine serviced. If you want a good reasonable price person to service your sewing machine, see my next Yelp review.

Right now they are open from 12-4pm and are closed Sunday's. They only let in 10 people at a time so you will probably have to take a number and wait to be called in. Mind you, at 4pm they let everyone in who is still waiting outside! At the same time! So there was a flood of people (hard to social distance) but the staff did as much as they could to keep it under control. They are all really nice people!Anyways. They have a pretty big and unique fabric selection. I was able to buy super cute fabric for masks and a lot of prints for the back side of my masks to match the front prints I had.I seen so many customers asking the staff, where's this? Where's that? If they just took the time to look around they could easily find it themselves. It's obvious the workers are all super busy cutting fabric and ringing people up...so some self help would be nice.Tip: look behind the cutting tables for some of the best fabric! They don't have time to put all the bolts away after each customer, so good prints get stacked up until they go back. I found a few good hidden ones there :)I went twice to fill my masks making needs lol.

04/05/20Kaimuki dry good is closed on Sunday. Please be nice. Don't call. Phone goes to voicemail. These ladies are working their butt off without breaks. 04/02/20At this extremely difficult times Kaimuki Dry Good has stayed open to help people with their fabric needs. They adjusted their hours. They are open only from noon-5 pm. When u go, be sure to wear a mask. Keep the "social distancing" in mind and be polite. There are only 3 associates so be patient.they are a very long time business in Kaimuki. Everyone, please take cWith so few dry goods store left, I hope Kaimuki Dry Goods stays in business!I have been going there for decades, at leave 50+ years! As a young girl I took sewing lessons there. Love the local ownership and the fantastic selection of fabrics. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to suggestions. What's great is their selection of fabric ranges from simple cottons (all kinds of prints and solids) to beautiful Japanese fabrics and glamorous lace!Lots of craft ideas, buttons, thread, zippers and sewing tools. Parking is really easy and FREE!It is worth your time to find them on 10th Avenue between Harding and Waialae Avenue...nite that 19th Avenue is one way so you have to access 10th Ave via Harding Ave. as soon as you see the playground, turn left into the parking lot. Happy Sewing!

My 12 yr old son had been working on a school project for a few months. We came into the store multiple times to purchase his choice of fabrics and thread. Everyone who assisted him was friendly, attentive, and interested in how his sewing of the pillowcases was going. He was very comfortable each time we visited the store and found everything he needed there. Kaimuki Dry Goods is definitely our go-to store for all our sewing needs on the island!

Poor service the last two times I tried to buy something. I had to just walk out . When I tried to get fabric cut, she just walked away before I could ask questions. The same thing happened when I went to pay. She ignored me when I was standing at the register. She made a comment that I was paying for the "softness" and why it costs $11.99 a yard. I would have paid that much for it if she wasn't so rude about it. I don't care about softness for my curtains.
