Best bar in kailua! Friendly staff, BYOF and best prices in Kailua! Air conditioners and good sports! Can't beat it!

Chill "hole in the wall" type spot with good, reasonable drinks and friendly staff. We stopped in for a couple drinks with friends after dinner on a Saturday night around 8ish and it was about half full. Within 30 min the place was packed. Mixed crowd with open karaoke for your enjoyment.

First time at Kailua Tavern. Went lunch time. Unfortunately or fortunately there is not a food menu, as this is a straight up bar. They have all kinds of alcoholic drinks, and you can buy chips from.behund.the bar. They do encourage you to hit the Taco Bell or Jack In The Box that are conveniently located across the street. We stopped by at 1 PM hoping for some lunch and to play some pool. There were already locals and regulars hanging out at the bar and the bartender pointed out that this was BYOF (bring your own food). He and the other folks were all helpful and quickly exchanged dollars for quarters. Atmosphere and ambiance is total dive bar with a hint of sketchy, but we will certainly be back for more rounds of pool and for the opportunity to try some of the local grinds around Kailua Tavern.

If you like a traditional dive bar, but by the beach this it. The people were nice and and the drinks were exactly like our local dive back home. Simple and strong like most people like them. If you're in the area I would recommend stopping in for one or a few.

This place is divey, dirty and now full of rowdy 20 something year olds. There's no food and the karaoke machine only works sometimes. The bartendresses are great. Very engaging and that pretty local girl can sure make a good drink. If you end up there, enjoy a few drinks and tip good. The staff is legit the best thing about this place. I won't be going back anytime soon. The vibe is off nowadays. Last time we went the bartendress had to kid out a bunch of teenagers who thought they could sneak a drink. It really killed the mood.

This place is where locals go so just be aware that its not a chain restaurant with tourists, but that only means its 10x better than any other spot around town! They have karaoke (which the one bartender is phenomenal at), pool tables, and darts. It is a real down home feel and that is probably why I love it so much. Drink prices are average and the vibe is perfect. There is never a problem getting a seat and you can hear your friends during a conversation. I think as I get older I am beginning to appreciate the smaller things when I am out at a bar with my friends (hearing them and getting a good drink). There is bike parking and a place to lock up your bike, along with a few spots in the parking lot off the main street, but your best bet is street parking. What are you waiting for? Head there on your next night out to enjoy a drink and game of darts and some karaoke from your favorite cousins :)

Bobbi was the best!! To be TOTALLY honest, we definitely walked in and everyone thought we were lost. We were the youngest people in the bar by about 40 years and were the only females in the crowd. Everyone was super friendly and Bobbi took great care of us. Their bloody mary's were good (build your own) and the prices were unbeatable! Perfect little small town dive bar.

So I have to say that I am a newbie at this yelp thing. But I've been at the establishment a few times and enjoy myself due to the friendly staff and the great drinks. I am definitely a returning customer but I rarely attend bars infact the tavern is the only place I am willing to go to to relax and calm down the stress of the work week. But it's difficult to invite my coworkers when the place can be smelly from the restroom, or the look of the restrooms is like the pipes been there since the 50"s. Hey I get it, these are not simple fixes and it will cost some money. But I'll be honest, the few time I've been there looks like this place can afford the upgrades. I mean the karaoke is expensive, 2 bucks a song and the mics honestly suck!! It cuts out and the sound is not consistent. The song book is out of order and difficult to find a song. I am not one to care or give a crap, but this can be a great place. Looks like it's just me and my partner until they make some changes. Again great bartenders, so much aloha and thats difficult to find in this day and age. Having a menu for food would be great. So negatives are smells bad, karaoke sucks, books for songs suck, food would be good. The positives, great drinks even better staff!!

Losers over serves regulars. One gal drove her car into the ocean . She almost died. They stopped serving her. The next guy ride his bike into a glass window. I deal with someone who is served there everyday. Imagine

The owner is super cheap and needs to update the bar to stay on top of the game. It's tough to see a good bar that's been around go down because of poor owner ship. The bartenders are absolutely amazing and need to get more recognition. Maybe the owner should listen to them and their ideas... not accuse them of stealing when the owner is sitting at the bar getting drunk....
