Tucked away in the Kalama Valley Shopping Center, Kai Coffee has long been well-represented in Waikiki, subsequently, Kapahulu with a roastery/coffee shop. Sadly, they shuttered their Downton locale a few years ago.Coffee is excellent. They offer a Piccolo, which is a smaller latte when one wants less to drink. It came piping hot and was excellent.I had their special: Coco Mac Nut Frappe...very refreshing and sweet enough without being cloyingly so. Coconut and Macadamia syrup was Pono Potions' Maka'i Mac Nut syrup...local flavors.Smoothies are also good. I just haven't tried any of their food - that will be remedied, at some point.Service is polite and friendly. There are about four tables indoors with additional seating directly outside. Parking stalls are plentiful.Artisinal coffee at prices that are reasonable...can't go wrong with drinking a cup o' Joe from Kai Coffee.

Timeliness.DONT go on the weekends if you are in a hurry or expecting normal pace service. This coffee shop is the slowest on the planet. Literally one and a half people working on a Sunday morning. There means and methods to make hot food, literally takes 20 minutes to make a hot sand sandwich.A guy in front of me said he waited 15 minutes for two black coffees.I waited nearly 20 minutes for a large iced Carmel latte. Insane! At least the coffee drink was above par. Some feedback for the staff:If you are going to be a barista or work in a coffee shop, the best skill you can learn is to multi-task and remember what you are doing. The dude behind the counter had to read his order receipts literally a dozen times to remember two drinks. What is going on WITH THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS AND their knowing how to handle a basic minimum wage job??!This is literally why AI and robots are going to soon take all of your jobs. That's a fact and sad to say but true.I literally just saw 5 customers walk out because this place was so slow!!Oh!! And the best part, the Manager literally popped his head out once and didn't even come out to support his drowning staff.Bravo on your leadership skills, sir. Bravo!

I usually don't write reviews but I 100% recommend! We had the sweetest girl serve us (Alyssa)! She has such a friendly & welcoming presence. We tried the seasonal sandwiches & they were 10/10! The coffees were also very smooth. I don't drink black coffee but my friend got the cold brew & I would've ordered one for myself too if I didn't already get the Kai coffee (which was also really good) our big backs also got every single pastry which all were 10/10 LOL TLDR; service was unmatched & food was amazing

Fairly new coffee spot in east Honolulu. They have plenty of free parking and lots of nice outdoor seating. I was blown away by the lemon poppy seed cake I had. It was warm and a nice portion slice. I enjoyed it with a nice hot cup of tea.

I LOVE that we have this little community coffee shop! And the acai bowls and breakfast sandwiches are fantastic! Only thing, I wish they'd bring back the grab and go cold case with juices, fruit cups, turkey & cheese croissant sandwiches, and a few other options. It was so convenient to grab a quick coffee and snack. I imagine it was a good revenue generator too! In less words...please bring back the grab and go/picnic options! :)

Chai latte was very milk heavy, so the chai flavor didn't shine! Order came out quickly though. Really kind servers and spots for indoor and outdoor seating. Next time I order here, might just have to stick to coffee.

It's awesome that Kai Coffee opened in the Kalama Valley shopping center, bringing a little more life into the sleepy plaza. Kai coffee is a local chain with a few other locations on island. At this location, there is ample parking and plenty of shaded seating outside to sit a while and enjoy your drink, perfect for a coffee date or if you're waiting for your car next door. On our visit, we walked over from Kalama Valley park just a few blocks away. We decided to try an iced macadamia nut latte and a blueberry scone. Prices are a bit high, but our drink and scone were both delicious and hit the spot. They do sell coffee beans here as well!

Absolutely LOVE Kai coffee. I usually go to the one in kapahulu but the traffic is tiresome. So I'm so happy they opened one in Hawaii kai. Tons of free parking in a private and safe parking lot. I don't need to park on the street now!Seating area inside and outside in a completely shaded area and air conditioning inside.Very clean bathrooms that you will need to ask a key for.Staff was kind and happy. They were very busy with only 2 people working. I went around 10:00am on a Saturday. I ordered my usual, iced kai latte and it never disappoints. They have hot foods and bakery items something for everyone's appetite.I will be here often!

For some reason this Kai coffee location was really good. The Hawaiian coffee was *chef's kiss* - it wasn't too sweet and I loved the richness of flavor in the Kona beans ~
