LOVE love LOVE this course! This place is a hidden gem! It's right off of Kamehameha Hwy and right along the water. Reviews and pictures online are definitely mixed but I think everyone should check this place out at least once in their lifetime. Driving up you might not think much of the course but as you navigate around the course, you too will appreciate the beauty of this place. The staff is friendly and helpful and the regulars are fun and enthusiast about playing at this course. NO PRO SHOP, but who really needs them :PRATE: The rates are fair and well worth it. PARKING: There's a private gravel/sandy parking lot with more than enough spots. No fee to park. After your done, you should check out the food trucks and Beer Garden at the Kahuku Sugar Mill.

I fell in love. Lower your expectations. I played a bucket list course the day before but felt the awe of beach golf here. Granted I was first out and solo. Very simple and raw conditions. Wind & elevation are factors. If you're looking for amenities and stuck up culture, this ain't it. It's just golf next to the ocean. There is no dress code.

This is a nice municipal course to walk. There is a surprising variety of holes to give you a challenge. A couple of very long holes that make it fun to see how you'll get up to the green. It's very dry right now as you can see in the picture but not cracked like Olomana can get when it is dried out. This means you can get some lucky bounces and roll out quite a bit longer than normal. Downsides is the drive out there if you don't live on the north shore but it's not crowded like at Pali or Ala Wai. Another downside is the homeless camped along the beach. No concession or place to hangout and I didn't see a driving range or putting green. Price is right. If I were retiring it would be nice to buy into one of the bungalows along the course and walk over every morning and play a round.

Links style course in Hawaii. All exposed right on the beach. The greens were not the best quality and the entire course was dried out brown but for the experience it was a blast. You have to walk 9 holes twice for the 18. A little TLC and this place would have gotten 5 stars. Over all though I had a pleasant experience.

Called this morning 12/5/23. Reception was not clear so I asked :"Did you hear my question?" The guy then rudely responded "Did you hear my response?" . if I heard him, I wouldn't have asked. What a d#ck!

Best municipal if you love Hawai'i and can hang. This course is a beast during summer months, windy in the winter. It's in the true style of the Scottish Links, sandy and beautiful. A true vintage course of simplicity andFun. Joe is a great guy and Carlton rocks. Give them a visit.

Great little community golf course. I don't golf, but I love to come here shortly before dusk after the golfers have finished, to walk in the dunes and down the beach. The staff have always been nice.

This is such a remote location ... and not only that I brought my mom and she just wanted to watch and the young woman who works there yelled at us the girl who works there with a tattoo on her leg, she's like if you even think about touching a club I'll charge you your hand can't even go near her club. Wow! How rude, I can't believe she said that to my mom. I was about to lose it and flip out... but I already paid lol. I u deer stand the rule it's just wow I've never had someone speak that way or be so overly snobby on a course and I've played around many places. You think it's a inexpensive course but you'd be wrong because she will charge you. I wanted to carry my clubs but I have a different type of bag I use since I'm traveling apparently that specific bag isn't allowed so she made a huge fuss and made me rent a bag and a pulley Anyway so it's really never goi g to be the price you thinkShe ruined it for me. And ripped me off. I felt awful after.

I've golfed this course three times now and enjoy golfing there--once two rounds for 18 hole total. Sorry, no golf carts there. You can rent a push cart for $4 or $5 I believe. All times have been during the pandemic and one of main reasons why I golfed there. There's not many trees there. The 3rd and 4th holes have some that may come into play but mostly the type of bushes that grow along the seashore. The greens are not the best and some are better than others but none were slow. Some have these clover like weeds but are tiny and flat. The staff there was very friendly everytime. I give this course 5 stars because it's the cheapest place to golf. You can get a tee time almost any day and time even in these trying times. The fairways are very well maintained but it can get very windy there. The windiest round I ever played was at Kahuku. The good thing is that it's all cross wind. I say if you're taking a drive or cruise around the Island, book a time and enjoy 60-90 minutes golfing 9 holes there.

Very poor treatment from staff. Treated my wife differently from myself and her father. Ingenuine customer service and the experience left a bitter taste. Suggest and recommend to not play golf here. Course was very rough and poor for the price, that being said, it is a government managed golf course. Overcharge tourists for a badly managed course.
