What an amazing find!! While waiting for the farmers market to open, a lady told me that she came here just for the Lilikoi Cheesecake, Espresso Cheesecake and Macadamia Milk; she highly advised I try them. Needless to say, I tried the Lilikoi Cheesecake and "The Golden Lion Milk" which consisted of macadamia nut milk, ginger, turmeric, local honey and lions mane mushrooms. OMG! I was blown away by the flavors. The Lilikoi Cheesecake was creamy, rich, and tasted like Lilikoi; it didn't have an artificial flavor. The Golden Lion Milk was absolutely delicious! It was perfectly sweetened, but not too sweet. The ginger and turmeric were present, but not overpowering. I will definitely come back to buy more macadamia nut milks and try the other cheesecakes and food items. Before I forget, they also make their own Kombucha drinks and their special non-alcoholic beer for today is Guava.

Breakfast Burger at the Kailua Town Farmer's Market on Sunday morning...I was strolling around between vendors when the name of this booth caught my attention... JOURNEY! This is my niece's name... and the name of a popular music group! I took a look at the menu and noticed "Lava Rock Buns"... hmmm... intriguing... looks like charcoal colored bread! I also saw "red chili aioli" and asked if I could get a Breakfast Burger without spiciness. The young man asked me if I wanted to taste it... no, thank you! He also asked if I wanted bacon on my burger - ok! (I paid $3 extra for the bacon.)Curious about "Golden Macnut Milk", I inquired about this, too. Besides turmeric, other spices, including ginger, are added to plain Macnut milk to give it the yellowish hue. Ok...let's try it!It was fun to watch the chef cut the buns, toast them, assemble the ingredients in a stack, flip the eggs on the griddle, etc. He asked me how I wanted my egg and I asked for overeasy so that it's less messy. He put my burger in a takeout box and as I walked away, I exclaimed that I didn't get my Golden Macnut Milk! The cashier reached into the bowl of ice and gave me a jar. When I got home, I eagerly cut my burger open and felt hesitant about eating it because it was quite rare. I was hungry, so, I dug in and enjoyed the crunch of the pickle wedges and the slight heat from the Maple Onion Jam. Mmm... the bun was soft and kind of fell apart. Overall, I liked this tasty, complex burger burger!I drank the Golden Macnut Milk - very smooth with a tiny kick from the ingredients that settle to the bottom of the jar. Anyway, it was odd that there was no bacon in my burger. I'll have to return and let them know... I do wish the best for this new small business! They're very friendly and patiently helpful!

YUM! I won an Instagram contest for a free sandwich, so my parents and I made the trip to the Kailua Town Farmers Market to redeem it. The workers were so outgoing and genuinely seemed like they loved doing what they do, and treated all the customers like friends. I got the Breakfast Burger ($11) which is their Lava Rock Brioche Bun, a local grassfed beef patty from Forage Hawaii (also has a stall at the farmer's market!), havarti cheese, pickles, red chili aioli, maple bacon jam, and a local egg sunnyside up. I also added bacon to mine ($2). We also got the Mango Ginger Beer $6, which was super duper refreshing, and had a sharp (but not harsh!) ginger taste. The brioche bun was SO delicious. 40% of my judgement of a good burger comes from the bun, and this passed my test. It was a soft, buttery brioche with herbs brushed on (or baked on?) which gave it a great flavor. The beef patty was delish and not dry like other burgers, the maple onion jam was insanely delicious (a little on the sweet side, from the maple and the sugars from the onion), and everything paired so well with each other. I will say that the burger is a little on the smaller side, but I totally get it, since they source so many of their ingredients locally and it's one heck of a good burger. Definitely gonna be back next time to try their M&J sandwich! they also have secret menu items that only people that follow their IG (@journey.hfc) know about!

Breakfast burger reviewOrdered this one that farmers market at kaakaako.Very flavorful and lots going on but it works well together. Was kind of suspect of what that egg would do but it definitely added a good creamy flavor. The badThe bun both top and bottom was super soggy. The bottom bun pretty much disappeared because it was so wet.Wish the bun held up a little better.Overall a good burger to try. But if you are craving a burger in the area, go to chubbies right down the street.

I found Journey by HFC at the Kakaako Farmers Market and a friend told us to try the burger there, I walked up and it smelled delish. My other half loves burgers (especially ones with a yummy egg yolk to pop). I walked up and they were quite swamped with orders, the dude who helped me took a sec to finish writing up the last order and get to me. He seemed busy so I quickly ordered the burger for my other half, he tried to up sell the potatoes they had that day (and normally, you know I would have been all over a side dish, but this was for my fiancé and I was in a rush to get home) but I passed, they did look delish tho. He told me it would be about a 12 minute wait so I browsed around the farmers market and picked up some fresh produce for the week while I waited and when I got back it was ready to go, so quick! When I got home the burger was still in great condition (I still had to make two other quick stops to pick up mochi and some micro greens before I drove the 10 minute drive home). My fiancé said it was great ! It seemed a little on the small side to me for the price, but he said it was super good and he'd definitely have it again. I went with my friends another weekend and they had a terribly long wait. The organization (or sort of lack thereof) was kind of sad. There was another order ahead of them waiting on a burger and the fries on that order were sitting so long I'm certain it was cold by the time the received their order shortly before my friends received theirs. My friends on the other hand were waiting on one order of fries for much longer than a 12 minute wait and got their fresh fries shortly after the order ahead of them left. It was certainly frustrating as the three of us were waiting on this one last thing before we could sit down and eat. Overall they enjoyed their food and said the burgers were great and the fries were not bad, but I would be weary if you're in a rush or see a long line of tickets or people forming, this might not be the choice for you. But to each their own, if you're willing to wait I've been told by numerous people now the food is greeeeat!
