I swear the ahi poke here used to be fresh. They used to also add the sauce after they weigh it. Now it's clearly frozen and last couple times they add the sauce before weighing. It's $12 a pound which is still very cheap. Besides poke they have good Filipino baked goods and other Filipino centric foods/treats.I don't eat frozen poke so I pan fry it. It's delicious that way.

5 stars for customer service alone! Location doesn't appear the safest of sorts. Often times there are regular homeless people outside but I've never seen them bother anyone. The ladies that work here are very friendly, the man behind the fish counter is super friendly as well. They sell poke & prepared Filipino food besides everyday grocery items. Don't judge a book by its cover!

A Filipino market selling raw beef and goat. Brings back how my parents use to prep kalding ( goat with lemon and onions and ginger ), Baka (raw cow meat with onions and bile).Place looks clean. Also has a take out area of Filipino dishes. Market is also filled with lots of Filipino items and desserts.

Jimmy Meat WorldI was getting my haircut one day and I randomly asked the lady doing my hair where the best Crunchiest Lechon in the World was. To my surprise she quickly responded with "Jimmys", a place I've never even heard of. Apparently this place has changed names but been around for decades. When I approached the place, I remembered I've past this place many times before but did not know they had a deli, poke stand, and lechon! But sometimes with great finds comes great sketch.SKETCHY AF RATING: 8 (Day) 9 (Night)The exterior of this place and especially at night look prime for suspicious activity. The interior is tight and dated and meet the qualifications for dark gem of the century. There is a homeless encampment across the street and random meth monsters spawn at night in the vicinity. Activate and equip your self defense mode, skills, and proceed with caution!GRABBED, BOUGHT, RAN: Just under 1lb Lechon $8.58SNAP CRACKLE CRUNCHOMETER: (9/10)The intel from the informant was spot on. This slab of Lechon is the CRUNCHIEST one in this entire list!JUICYNESS: (9/10)At first glance the crusty exterior of this fried pork slab looks dry and hard but looks are deceiving. When I placed this bad pig on the chopping board and started to slice, the juices started to slowly ooze out. I couldn't believe how wet the board was getting!AROMATICS: (6/10)Nothing besides the normal oil and I was not about to run back in and look for the salsa.VALUE: (9/10)At $9.99lb this here is the best bang for the buck lechon slab that turned out not only the CRUNCHIEST but the most JUICIEST on its own!OVERALL RATING AND RANK: (8/10)If you can get pass the sketch barrier, take a risky adventure and brave this dark gem out! The best stand alone value Lechon on the list!

This store is pretty interesting.. growing up in Waipahu, i think this store now has different owners (used to be called something else) but i remember it having the same things inside when i was a little girl. As you walk in, the cash register is on your right, beer on your left with the hot foods. Towards the back they have poke. On the right hand side of the store they have fresh produce, frozen foods, and lots of Asian items for cooking. The nanas inside are really sweet and if you need help finding something they are willing to assist you. I always come here for their banana lumpia. You can order it in advanced and get a whole box of it. It's worth it!! Whenever i have a party to go to and i have to bring dessert, i call and order a pan.

I was first introduced to Jimmy's by my husband who grew up in Waipahu. He bought their empanadas and I started picking them up for a couple years every now and then. But after today, I won't be getting anymore! I found a short piece of hair embedded into the tortilla! After I ate half of it! Yuck! This place sells Filipino food, snacks, vegetables & poke. I've tried their poke and in all honesty your better off getting it else where. It's not well marinated in flavor & It has a real fishy after taste so I'm assuming it's not fresh. On another note, Make sure to lock your doors when you park out front!! I've seen someone steal a backpack straight out of another guys car! So I'm always a little paranoid when I park.

If you grew up/live near this part of Waipahu before 2006 (I think), you know this place better as Tsumoto's. It was a distinct faded lime green building that was infamous for feeding the ridiculous amount of pidgeons that called the nearby telephone lines 'home.' Those pidgeons were smart and definitely had a conspiracy theory going on. Even if you waited just 5 seconds underneath them, this is what you would hear:*splat* one-second pause *splat* one-second pause *splat* one-second pause *splat*You'd think it started raining. Okay, enough of the nostalgia. I come to this place for mainly one reason: Poke.Sorry Tanioka's, Jimmy's is fresher. Sorry Poke Stop, Jimmy's is cheaper. Much cheaper. $7.99/lb. for Ahi Shoyu Poke. Times are hard, I need all the bucks I can get. And they're so much closer.Their cases are kind of high for a little shorty like me, so just jump up and down and wave your arms in the air if you need some help. Haha, just keeding. But seriously, I LOVE their Ahi Shoyu Poke. It's the only poke I eat... period. I think limu overpowers the poke and just makes everything taste like saltwater. So I have 'Ahi Shoyu Poke' tunnel vision wherever I go and don't really pay attention to anything else. I don't know if the person cutting the fish is just generous or what, but their ahi cubes are HUGE! White onion, green onion, shoyu mixture. That's love in a bowl. I think they could be a little more generous with the onion, but I looove onions and we always have it at home anyway, so it's no biggie. Oh yeah, one major thing to notice is that it's not pre-mixed. So if I'm going straight home, I ask for Ahi Shoyu Poke, no shoyu. I mix it up at home myself, and I get more fish for my dollar. And lucky for me, the poke case is straight ahead when I walk in the door.Cold beer on your left, basic groceries, produce, and cigarettes on your right, Filipino smells and products (Regalo Bakery items and Star margarine anyone?) abound. They also have an ATM and a machine that sells long-distance phone cards. Right by the cash register is a soda can box of a few homemade Filipino desserts. I only remember the sinoman or however you spell it, the brown sticky rice thing. Next to the poke (they have Ahi Limu, Ahi Shoyu, Ahi Tobikko, and I think Tako), they have the raw stuff that I wouldn't touch a 50-foot pole. My dad gets the Baka Poke, raw COW. (Don't ask me what part of the cow, I don't even wanna look at the thing.) If you're Hindu, close your eyes and cover your heart. Most of the workers are friendly. Sometimes the cashiers are eating when I go up to pay. They say the usual pleasantries, but don't seem as sincere about it as the ones behind the poke case.If you've ever been in here when it was Tsumoto's, you'd be pleasantly surprised at how CLEAN the store is now. This is good news for slight germophobes like me. So walk in, grab a cold one (Pepsi for me please), ask for a half pound of poke, and you're set for a most awesome snack.

A superrrr ghetto little store. Mostly filipino-esk. It smells like filipino food, but because of course they serve it inside. They have good banana lumpia though and it's only like 85 cents! lol A very little parking lot, and it's always bussy so I guess that doesn't help. They have beer specials and hot filipino food inside. They could totally need a remodel inside though. Because it seems a bit dusty&old school looking inside? Idk not my first pick of a place to stop and get something to eat... lol

I was shopping here several times. You can find authentic Philippino food, it tastes good, however beware the way they weigh it! I noticed that they Always put a cover on a plastic container when they weigh food which is quite pricy. I dont mind to pay good price for good food but it certainly adds up to the price and it does not feel a quite honest. You never see supermarkets do it, they always put cover after they weigh food. One time I noticed a lady who weighted shrimp poke touched up a scale while she weighted even with a cover up. Beware!
