What a gem in the middle of downtown! My expectation of a store with friendly customer service was not only met, but exceeded at this store! I even got to meet Jimmy! They not only tried to help me find what I was looking for, but they shared their banana lumpia with me! Such a genuine warm group of people!I will definitely return again and again when I'm in Honolulu

I came back recently to buy a couple balut. This was my first time trying it. I called ahead to check if that was something they stocked. The woman that answered the phone said, "of course!", enthusiastically.I wanted just two balut but that came out to $5 something and the minimum amount to use a credit card was $10 so I perused the shop looking for what other things I may find. In addition to shelf stable goods, there were some live catfish in a fish tank and an assortment of fresh produce. I got some fermented tiny shrimp and green mango. Yum! I haven't had green mango and shrimp combo in so many years. It brings back my childhood days.4/5 stars because it's a great selection and the staff is friendly. But the store in kinda old, outdated, and grungy. But you know what, that's not going to stop me from going back. I will be back.

My wife was in a baking mood, specifically for ube macarons and/or crinkles. We searched everywhere for a type of ube spread or paste in a jar, but a lot of places didn't have them such as Don Quijote, Walmart, Longs, Times, Foodland, etc. I didn't to YELP Filipino restaurants and found this small store in my hometown. They didn't have the spread, but they carried the frozen ube which worked just as well. Spent about less $3.50 each. They sell a lot of things I don't normally see in other stores. I think if you're looking to make something Filipino specific, then come check this place out. They also sell fried pork, ice cream, etc. I only saw 1 street parking right in front. I'm not sure where else you can park. This store is located near Rays, but across the street next to a gas station. The store is small and looks kinda filthy and dark, but that's where all the good stuff are hiding lol. The lady staff there was very nice and friendly.

After living in Chinatown for over 5 years, I appreciate that I don't have to struggle to find parking here. Although it's street parking, i would always find parking here much faster than in Chinatown. JP is a small mom and pop market where you'll actually see their workers sitting on stools trimming and packaging the vegetables. The veggies and seafood always look so fresh. Be aware, the fish, shrimp, and live crabs are not packaged. You'll have to pack them yourself. But the best part is the prices are so much cheaper here than the major grocery stores. They sell everything a Filipino family (or anyone craving or wanting a part of the culture) could ever want. Frozen longanisa (sausage), tocino (marinated pork), fish, lumpia, and more (even goat). They have an aisle for seasonings and condiments, then another aisle for Filipino snacks (my favorite is the cheese balls). Philippines calling cards, facial creams, soap, lotion, and even pomade. Fresh chicharones, filipino baked desserts...., Then there's the famous Filipino soda, Orange Royal.. And the best for me is the ICE CREAM-- Macapuno (coconut). Yummeh! The sales clerks are a delight. Don't expect to be treated like customers, be expected to be treated like family that sees you everyday. A handwritten sign hangs near their register, "God is nice, you're nice, be nice" ^_^I'm definitely a fan! Tip: They take debit, credit, & EBT.

I came here looking for Lika's Papaya Soap which is well known in the Filipino community. They didn't have it, but one of the ladies directed me to a small market right across the street, and they had it for $3.50. I did not want to drive all the way to Seafood City for one bar of soap!

I couldn't find really basic things like Champorado. On the up side though, there was fresh crab. I recommend Seafood City though.

BUYERS BEWARE!!! Always ask for receipt before you leave the store. I was charged more than $3 for a sardines?! You gotta be kidding me?!! $3 for a small sardines?? So I went back to the store and ask how much for sardines and found out its only 89 cents! Woww! Ofcourse I confronted the lady about it and even though she gave me the refund for over charging me, she still doesn't wanna admit what she did. And then at the end before I left the store, she was like ohhh I didn't charge the sardines.. Voicing it out loud. (she did that so those people in line at check out can hear it, and act like nothing is wrong, covering her butt about it) Yea b*tch, you didn't charge the sardines for the price of 89 cents, because you charged me for more than 3 dollars for it!!! I'm so pissed! --end of rant
