This spot is a hidden gem in the hustle of Waikīkī. We made a same day reservation, sat immediately and had our first order within 5 minutes. Really clean, hip atmosphere set inside a newly renovated Romer hotel. Everything we ate was top notch. -Chicken Karaage- 5/5-Grilled Eggplant- 4/5 great flavor, eggplant texture... awesome if you like eggplant.-Sushi- 5/5 fresh and delicious, unique combos-"Okonamiyaki" style seafood pancake- 4/5 could do with more cabbage and less shrimp. Great presentation. -Curry Yakisoba- 5/5 awesome. This place is tucked away and absolutely worth checking out. Avoid the tourist traps and hit this up.

Came here for a late dinner on Valentine's day, we did take a look at the menu online beforehand and saw their lovers + friends menu for that weekend. The food on the regular menu sounded more yummy so we ordered from that instead. Servers were all very kind and accommodating. We ordered beef tongue, yellowtail hanabi sashimi, and ahi tuna tataki. The beef tongue was so good we ordered another one!

Food came out pretty well, came on valentines week so they had a cute special menu. Very small portions for a big price point but the quality is good. It's a hotel meal so you expect to pay a lot. Drinks were very strong too! The customer service, I did have an interaction that rubbed in the wrong way. I would like to justify maybe there was a language barrier but it definitely killed the mood of the rest of our night. As we ordered, I made sure to point at the menu items I wanted. I pointed at the temakis as I said the items each. The server asked "roll? And I said hand roll yes - and pointed to the menu item" the food came out we got a bunch of sushi rolls. I told the female server the mistake and she just asked "so you don't want these" I said "no because that's not what he ordered" she proceeded to walk off to the server and he went over to me and said "i asked you rolls you said yes" and I tried to explain I said hand rolls and pointed at the items on their valentine menu to make sure he wasn't confused. He said "okay so you changed" and that had me so appalled I very calmly had to explain again and he scurried off. He didn't check on us the rest of the night. We had another female server check in and she was really nice to us. We tried to even wave down the male server but didn't get much luck until it came with the check. That's when he apologized when I was just about to tip. Again, I would like to emphasize the language barrier, but that was such an ill feeling. Unfortunately this was not an ideal hotel dining experience but overall food and drinks I would say it was quality over quantity. If you're a hotel guest - grab your sake bomb vouchers, tip, and hele out the door.

Nice clean ambiance with dimmed lights and different table set ups. Nice place to dress up and have an intimate dinner. Went with a group of four. Loved the cocktail selections and the menu with unique twists overall. Ordered four cocktails, chicken karaage, miso Caesar salad, 2 aloha spoons, grilled eggplant, grilled beef tongue, ocean umami cold scallops, geisha roll, seafood pancake. Everything was $206 before tax and tip. Enjoyed all of the food. Very fresh. The waitress was also very nice and moved our table because we were cold sitting by the fan. My friends and I enjoyed our cocktails. We liked the matcha cocktail the best.Items I would order again:Ocean umami, miso Caesar salad, aloha spoonCritiques:Beef tongue was a hit toughI noticed the waitress' thumb touched the inside of my friend's matcha cocktail Overall we enjoyed the ambiance and food.

Surprise! Surprise! Romer has a first class hit on their property that is value and service and everything nice. Insider tip: their salads are all great but the Caesar is next level which says it all. When a place can take something basic and keep it true to form while making it remarkable is a great sign of things to come. Everything is great! The food is delicious, clean healthy and tasty and quintessential of the best Japan has to offer. But what stands out is the clean simple decor that says hello come in and relax. Everything is new and clean but what is even better is the service which is so friendly and welcoming and sincerely that it sets the perfect mood for a date or just hanging out or even chilling on your own. Make plans for more than one visit on your vacation and locals come often you deserve it! See you all there early and often.

I was staying at the hotel for a quick staycation and wanted to try this restaurant. I'm very happy I did! I went around 6:00 PM on a Friday night and was seated immediately. I hadn't made any reservations but I think since it was so close to when they opened, it wasn't too busy yet. Once I was seated, I was helped immediately. Offered water and Prosecco as well! It was on the house as I was a solo diner. I wish more places did things like this because I do so many solo adventures. Then I ordered some shrimp tempura ($15) as well as the wagyu. I got the miyazaki which has a 4 ounce minimum at $26/oz. It was so delicious and I'm glad I trusted the many servers that helped me. Throughout my short time dining I think I had four servers lol. All were so kind and had extensive menu knowledge. The overall vibe of the place was really nice, warm, intimate and open. You can tell they are trying to create a certain standard and I can see it! I would dine again.

Love the decor. Baby loved the lamp when she found out there was a button to change the settings. It's in the lobby so you can watch people walk by. Little cold...but I"m always cold. Waitress really sweet. Super helpful even with our messy baby. She had a LOT of suggestions...we took some. Ordered a bunch of stuff in no particular order...- Miso caesar salad - good refreshing salad, but could barely taste any miso. Just a regular salad.- Edamame naked - no spicy for the baby. This was grilled? Different...I liked it though.- Karaage Chicken - not bad. Came with sauce which it needed..or just a squeeze of lemon. Baby liked it! - Miso Soup - for baby...she ate the tofu but didn't want the soup.- Ocean Umami - good...but not sure how to eat it. Seemed like it should have been on a spoon maybe? Picked up ikura piece by piece with hashi. Time consuming, so used the spoon from the soba.- Umami Shiitake - really good. Hubs thought needed salt, but I liked it. Buggah holds the heat tho so watch out!- Mahi Katsu - I'm on a mentaiko kick so really liked that. Mahi was super thin though. - Yakisoba - tasty but way too overcooked. Super soft. Perfect for baby.- Skirt Steak - YUM. This was delish. Did NOT order the "Butterfish" since it's that Walu Butterfish-wannabe that makes people poop oil. Beware. At least they tell you it's Walu...so you have been warned. The Geisha and Godzilla sushi rolls sounded a little overwhelming. A little too much going on. The other rolls were typical, but maybe we missed out. Thought we would need more, but actually with drinks, we even had leftovers. Overall pretty good. Hopefully they add or change the menu since we ordered a bunch of it...incentive to go back and try new things.

The food here was amazing. It's definitely a cooler / more trendy spot. Not on the main strip, it was only a short walk for us from Waikiki besch. We made a last minute reservation but despite the online service saying they had seating available immediately when we arrived they said we had to wait. This was fine though, we went to the bar and got drinks while we waited and we were called for our table only about 15 min later. Bartenders were very friendly and helpful too. It may be a trendy spot but the service was warm. The dining area is sectioned into two areas, one half of it was not open. Based on other photos this often seems to be the case. Anyways. The food. We got one of their specials that night (a wagyu dish) their take on a veggie pancake, and their pickled veg trio. Everything was super delicious. The wagyu was great, cooked perfectly, with a tasty sauce. The vegetable fritter (I don't recall what they called it on the menu) was not what I expected but was really tasty. Perfectly crispy with a nice sauce. The pickled vegetable trio was nice too, really refreshing. Would come again!

Holy bejesus don't leave Waikīkī without trying this food. I'm staying in the attached hotel and thought I'd grab a bite at the bar after a long day of diving. I don't usually have high hopes for restaurants in hotels- but 855 changes that. As apart of the Mina group - sourcing, preparing & plating are all too notch. Ryan not only was a great and attentive bartender; but also kind, friendly and genuinely proud of the plates served.Miso Caesar- shockingly mind blowing. There's something about the Parmesan here it had the consistency of a macadamia nut. Perfect umami.Amberjack ceviche was my least favorite comparatively to the wagyu and Miso Butterfish I ordered; not because it wasn't enjoyable, but those other two. Oof Can't wait to return and try more things!Update- had the breakfast spam Sando - to die for

We looked at the reviews before coming. This reviewer has gone to many izakaya's in Japan including several just last november. On entering, the staff was polite and nice but the restaurant was empty. Do you have a reservation. No but you're empty....well we have reservations. It was a little after 7 pm. Then they tried to seat us at a table in the middle of many empty booths. After asking about this we got a booth. The menu consisted of a number of items emphasing rolls. Normal Izakaya's sell snacks and alcohol of all kinds. There were no skewers on the menu--rather normal fare for traditional Izakayas...oh we stop serving them. Ordered one eggplant dish...was inedible. Staff knows NO japanese
