Island Wide Lawn Equipment is Leo Morrin's mobile lawnmower service and maintenance business. Leo does mobile service, as in there isn't any need to load up your heavy lawnmower in your car to drop it off to a shop. I called him and scheduled a service appointment the very next day - yes, as in the next day. I needed belt replacement and chains repaired along with blade sharpening. He suggested I also replace the sparkplug and change the oil and filter since I never had it done. Asked him what the "damage" would cost and he quoted me $160 and complete the job in under an hour! Heck, I paid $125 just for blade sharpening at the shop 2 years ago and I had to leave it there for 2 weeks. This was way cheaper than buying another front reel mower. I am a convinced customer - Leo is the "reel" deal!

Leo did a great job in sharpening and servicing my Mclane lawn mower. He finished the whole service in an hour where the bigger companies take 2 weeks to finish. The best part of his service is that he comes to your home. He just needs a small area on your driveway for workspace and an outlet for electicity.Would recomend his service. 5 STARS!!

Don't waste your time, terrible communication, rude, and most of all not customer service oriented!

Leo and his assistant did a great job changing my McLane drive belt and sharpening the blades. He let me know when they were coming with plenty of notice and was great not having to take my lawn mower in to the shop. He did some minor maintenance items on the mower at no charge. His prices are very reasonable especially since he comes to your house. I will definitely be using him for future services.

My 10 blade McClane mower engine starts up but the engine leaked and the blades won't engage. I took my McClane to Waipahu Lawn Equipment for repair estimate. I got a call saying that repair would cost in the thousands. I should just buy a new one. I checked and a new comparable McClane mower is ~$2000. I needed a second opinion.I called Leo with Island Wide Lawn Equipment. He came over, did a quick inspection, and he provided an estimate. He said he can repair the leak but it will give problems in the future. For the cost of two repair jobs, he can replace the 3.5L to a 4L engine, sharpen the blades, replaced 1 of 2 corroded chain drives, and fix the engagement clutch. Total is less than 1/4th the cost of a new McClane and way less than the repair cost from Waipahu Lawn Equipment. Within two hours, he replaced the engine and got everything sharpened and working in-front of my garage.Only negative thing is that I got a heads up 1/2 hour before showing up. I was lucky that I did not have anything going at the time or I would not know when he would show up since he is very busy.Otherwise, he has excellent customer service, fair, and easy going.***Adding to the original review***Leo is a US Marines vet, probably of the Vietnam Era. He may come off-putting to some because he has a Marine been in too many F'ked up situation demeanor. I've been around many Marines in the seniors years, so don't take his demeanor negatively. He does mumble and I noticed that is common of men of his exposure and age. Just need to tell him "Talk louder, you mumbled under your breath." Or the short and sweet response of "What you said" in a loud way. He'll snap to it and apologize. Otherwise, for his age, this dude is amazing how he can diagnose just by listening to it and looking at it. He didn't bullshit around.BTW, to sharpen, he needs a 10x10' area, preferably flat, and close access to water and electricity. The electricity is used to turn the motor that turns the cog to the reel. The water is needed to spray down the sharpening mix he applied to the blade while the reel is turning. The best spot for him to do this is your driveway. So if you need ANY mobile repair person, YOU have to give-up the drive way for easy access to their tools and gear in their vehicle. The least painful you make for this mobile guys, the faster they are out of your hair.I notice he was baking and turning red under the sun. I setup an EZ-Up tent canopy above his work area. Offered cold drinks and made myself available for him to fix the mower. He did me solid by giving me a good deal and doing the job in under 2 hours. Immediately, I was cutting not just my grass strip, but also my neighbors grass strip right after. They were amazed at the result from the repaired mower.

If you're in need of work on your lawn mower and like me you don't want to have to load it up and transport it to a repair shop, then Leo is your guy! I hadn't serviced my 7 blade Tru Cut mower in about 10 years and it seemed to be ripping out my lawn rather than cutting it. Leo came out on time and quoted me a fair price to sharpen blades, change oil, filter, and spark plug, and also replace my chain. Work was done in around an hour and now the mower runs great!Mind you Leo is a real old school guy, who takes only cash or check, not real great on scheduling ahead, and not much for small talk. But he is a master at his craft and I would gladly recommend his services to others looking to do work on their lawn equipment. Very satisfied customer!

This guy is a con artist. Three years ago we paid Leo to install a new engine for our McLane lawn mower. Recently, he came to our home to fix the same McLane lawn mower that was no longer working. He recommended the engine be replaced. When my husband told him, "No", Leo "offered" to take the lawn mower "off our hands". We told him thank you, but no thank you. My husband took the lawn mower to Small Engine Clinic. They cleaned out the carburetor and did a complete overhaul for $85.00 plus credit for another older mower my husband bought off of CraigsList.

Gave Leo a call and he rushed me and said just text him the details. Didn't hear back, so I assumed thatmaybe he was no longer in business and texted and apologized if I was contacting him error. He called a bit confrontational, questioning why I thought he was no longer in business. I asked if it was Leo and he said it was and would see if he had time for me "tomorrow". I called Leo back to notify him that I was no longer in need of his services. Unfortunately My review is based purely off our phone call/text interaction, so I can't say anything about his service.
