Island Subs & Burgers

A great "mom and pop" dining spot in Manoa that we've gotten lunch from several times. Their selection of sandwiches, salads, and plate lunches are good and the portion sizes are great, especially for the price. Today, since I was in Manoa babysitting my granddaughter, we got lunch for take out. They were super busy (on a Tuesday) but since we called in the order (definitely suggested), it was pretty quick. We ordered a pastrami sub (for me), a mushroom Swiss burger, and a hamburger steak plate. Also am order of crinkle cut fries and onion rings. The burger can be ordered with either one or two 1/2 lb patties (we had the two) and it was covered in sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese. The hamburger steak was just as large, with juicy patties, rice, and salad. My pastrami sub (I ordered the full size) came cut in half and wrapped separately. The roll was slightly toasted and stuffed with pastrami slices, melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and (I think) sauerkraut. I could only finish half, so it was nice that they wrapped the two halves separately. The fries are really good. Crisp exterior with a creamy interior. The onion rings are also very tasty and crisp, without being too oily. One order was enough to share between 3 of us. A great place with great food and very reasonably priced. I hope they continue to do really well.

Dinner in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii...Searching my Yelp app for something to eat before a meeting, I found Island Subs & Burgers.Located in Manoa Marketplace, between Fendu Boulangerie bakery and Kay's Crack Seed (on the ground level), it's relatively easy to find free parking in the shared parking lot. The interior is cozy and a bit dim. It was noisy in the beginning because some unruly children were having fun. After they left, it was calm and quiet!There was a lone woman woker there. She took orders, collected payment, cooked, and distributed meals to everyone. Wow. She's awesome!I ordered an Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger and am glad that i dined-in because it was a bit messy. The melty cheese and mushy Avocado made everything slide around the ketchup, onions, and patty. It was yummy and just right!I'll remember to return when I'm in the area again!

I got a chance to visit this establishment twice and I was amazed every time. The first time I tried the Turkey Reuben sandwich along with their French fries. Everything was made to order and fresh. French fries and onion rings were piping hot. The service was quick and efficient and the ambiance was very cozy. It's a small place but there was enough seating for at least 10 people. The wait wasn't too long but appreciate that everything was fresh so the wait is worth it. The pictures are from my first visit. On my second visit I had the Cuban sandwich with onion rings and again it was fresh. There was a good crisp to the onion rings and not oily. The Cuban sandwich was good but I'd appreciate more meat in it but overall the taste was there. If you're ever I. The area go check this place out. They have a variety of food choices besides sandwiches and subs.

The order: Pastrami Rueben with Extra Crispy FriesLet's just start by saying, I got my pastrami fix in that I have been craving for weeks. They make a great Rueben. Bread nice and crunchy outside soft in middle where that sweet tangy thousand island dressing infused it. Pastrami soft with that salty robust flavor. It comes with a sliced pickle for more funk. Fries perfectly crunchy and soft inside. My tummy is happy, thank you.

Food is inexpensive and always delicious. Service is awesome. They work so hard and bring you the food to your table. Ambiance is small but clean.

Recommend! Great location and tasty food! I've ordered subs from this place in the past and enjoyed their food, so I decided to try a cheese burger today. I was very satisfied with me cheeseburger! The bun was so soft and fresh. The patty had a delicious grilled taste and perfect amount of condiments and veggies.I ordered a large fries as well. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. They also season the fries with their own seasoning. For the burger and fries, it came out to $12 something which I thought was a great price! It's a very simple place. Seats and tables available inside. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Located at Manoa shopping center, so lots of parking.

Every now and then I have a craving for a delicious sandwich. I was on my way home from Manoa so I yelped nearby eating places and found Island Subs and Burgers in the Manoa Shopping Center. There are some renovations and construction work going on so look for the sign as the entrance is hidden behind a construction wall. It's also near the Longs and there is lots of parking available. As for reviews there were only 2 reviews but very positive ones. Once I entered the place there was only one other person waiting for their order. I ordered a Reuben (corn beef) sandwich and a side order of onion rings. The wait was about 10 minutes. The Reuben was so delicious! This grilled rye bread sandwich was packed with corn beef and sauerkraut. There was also a pickle on the side. The onion rings went well with the sandwich. Their menu offers a pretty good selection of sandwiches and plate lunch selections. The prices are reasonable and you can dine in or take out. There were two ladies working and the overall service was great. I imagine that lunch time and dinner times are much busier. I was here around 4:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. I'll definitely return for some good grinds!

Island Subs and Burgers is my go-to in Manoa. Very affordable and friendly small business owners. I always know I'm going to have a great meal when I come here. Indoor seating is also open! Love their fries with the lemon pepper seasoning!

Was in the area and close to dinner, saw this place so went in andordered the chicken, avocado salad...lots of chicken, 4 thin slices ofavocado and they used the cheaper white onion instead of redonion which would've tasted much better than the pungentwhite onion. So a bit disappointed. The man working there, maybethe owner,absolutely had no personality,no smiles, very deadpan.Flavor was good but wish had a bit more avocado and red onions.
