With the purest of intentions (ahem), Jamie W. and I have patronized at least a half-dozen gay bars in Honolulu, and hands down, this was our favorite. It has to be the smallest as well. Hidden away in a narrow walkway between Lau'ula Street and Kalakaua Avenue, it definitely doesn't provide the space offered by spots like Hula's Bar & Lei Stand and Chiko's Tavern. However, we felt genuine personal warmth from the staff and not the nasty kind your dirty mind presumed. I think they recognize the value of a personal connection when quarters are a bit tight. They offer karaoke at a $1 per song with an extensive set list. I was ready to cover "I'm Every Woman", but unfortunately I forgot to invite my backup singers. Ahem.Jabriel and Jacob were our bartenders during our two visits, and they were simply great, easy to chat with and made our $5 drinks with skill (photo: https://yelp.to/j9jljDJOMD). Among several libations were a Tequila Sunrise with a kick (photo: https://yelp.to/ZUAVRQ3TCd) and a very full Bloody Mary (photo: https://yelp.to/iUbbjQCL7G). If we lived in Honolulu, I'm sure we'd be regulars. Judging from their extremely active Instagram account, it appears many locals feel the same way.DRINKS - 5 stars...for $5, we couldn't have asked for more...could we?AMBIANCE - 4 stars...very compact in here but luckily we came before it started filling upSERVICE - 5 stars...Jabriel and Jacob were acesTOTAL - 5 stars...I'm every wo....oh never mindRELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/3Kz5ksc

My buddy and I had the best time drinking and singing at this spot randomly! Cheers to our local Usher Dante, Richard the Canadian, and Kailey the Shania Twain guru! Merry Christmas ya filthy animals! Service was incredible and cheers to both Phillip and Jazz for taking care of us with drinks and fun!

Had a great time at In Between, in a tourist town, any night can be like a Friday night at home and this place didn't disappoint. Sure it's small, it probably only fits 20 people, and sure, you can fit a couple more who spill out into the alley walkway, but everyone was singing along and imbibing on $9 drinks, which honestly, for the area $9 was a steal. I've never seen a pay to play karaoke, but it worked. Look up their song list on the website, pick your song, hand it to the staff, they'll add you to the list and $1 to your bar tab. This place didn't disappoint, who knows when I'll be back, but this is definitely on the shortlist of places to go and things to do after the sun goes down on waikiki!

It's small in space, but big in identity!I love the workers, the people who frequently visit the bar to sing their hearts out, the cheap drinks, everything. This LGBTQIA Karaoke bar is a well known safe space that invites some of the most talented people from around the world.I've been known to drink a few and sing my heart out every now and then!

This place is small but the vibe is amazing. Encouragement from everyone. I love a good karaoke bar. Understand you put the song in and have to keep up with it on your own so just pay attention to the numbers.

Came in on a Monday and it went from just our group of 3 to a packed house!!! So much fun!!! The drinks are perfect and great pours! I love how the karaoke is done, just right at the bar and so many song options to choose from! Side note: there is a food truck out back and you can bring your food in to the bar to eat and drink and that food truck is delicious!!!! so glad I have the opportunity to hang out at In Between, the bartenders were amazing all night!!

I came to In-Between Waikiki for karaoke, but I left with stories I'm not sure I can tell in public. The drinks? Great. The karaoke? A solid 10/10 - the song choices were as questionable as my decisions after two rounds of whatever they poured me. But what really stole the show was the unexpected... entertainment. Imagine three grown men miming things you'd usually pay a website for, and then one guy thought, "Why not?" and casually aired out his *ahem* personal equipment through the bottom of his shorts. All this unfolded like some bizarre, X-rated performance art. You come for the karaoke, but you stay because you're trying to figure out if you've wandered into a surreal reality show. Would I come back? Absolutely for the Karaoke.
