Given the price (~$120 per night) and location. I find that this hotel is very much worth it if you're on a budget. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and their services are up to standard. Only complaints is that the shower head pressure is low and the A/C unit in the room is loud. What stood out was the inclusion of dinnerware such as plates, bowls, and silverware. Even a microwave in the room makes eating leftovers very convenient. If you're looking for a resort experience then this place is not for you. Go spend twice or 3x as much for that experience but if you just want an affordable place to stay near the beach, shopping areas, and great food, then this place is for you.

(+) Pros: Location, Price, Friendlessness, Cleanliness(-) Cons: Outdated Rooms, Cramp ParkingI stayed here for a week in August 2021, when there were still some pandemic restrictions ( although it has been more relaxed compared to earlier in the same year).Location: This hotel is located in Waikiki, the heart of tourism in Honolulu. This hotel is near many popular places - including Maguro Brothers (sashimi & poke), Marugame Udon, Kona Coffee Purveyors, Basalt (get the charcoal buttermilk pancakes!), Heavenly Island Lifestyle, International Market Place, etc. It takes around 10 minutes to walk to Waikiki Beach. The only con is that there is a small tattoo parlor and bar on Nohonani St., which I did feel a bit hesitant to walk past at night.Price: For the area, this hotel is a good option for budget-friendly travelers who don't want to shell out a few hundred dollars a day on a beach-front hotel. Please note that there was a $27.45/night resort fee.Service: The staff at the hotel is amazing! I have stayed at nicer hotels, but some haven't even come as close to the service here.Cleanliness: Housekeeping services were provided every day without any prior request. I was immensely surprised at how clean it was considering the limited time they had during the day.Rooms: When I stayed, the room was clean, albeit a bit outdated, but it looks like based on the recent reviews, they have done some remodeling. The beds were large and comfortable to sleep in. Compared to other hotels I was searching in the same area, this hotel has a kitchenette ( including a fridge, microwave, sink, coffee machine, and burners). They had more kitchen utensils in stock than I expected. However one morning, I smelled and heard a nearby occupant making breakfast. My room has a balcony with a view of the city, but I rarely go there because the furniture isn't that pleasant to see. If you're lucky/paid more, you can get great views of the mountains.Parking: There is limited free parking. The staff will provide a parking pass to hang in your car throughout your stay. As long as you come back and park around 5:00 P.M., you should be able to find a parking spot. If you arrive later, you will need to pay for parking nearby. I would recommend renting a compact car because the parking spaces were a tad narrow. All in all, I would come back here again if I ever visited Honolulu.

Its the iconic location where McGarett does his open for Hawaii 5-0 still the greatest show ever shot in Hawaii. Its also on the Ala Wai Boat harbor the iconic scene opening Gilligans Island. It has great management and staff .. its open air and clean. McDonalds and Ihop are across the street. Its not on the beach but a skywalk takes you to the start of Waikiki Beach.. surf for locals only.

Ive stayed here for 5 nights so far, and it has been a really good experience. I was skeptical considering some mixed reviews about the place, but there are some good pros that make this place worthwhile to stay! I'm staying on the 16th floor, and boy it's an incredible view. Everyday I've been waking up to fresh coffee, tea, and sitting outside on the lanai. The lanai is a decent size, and has 2 chairs and a table. I got the deluxe option which includes two beds, kitchen, and a lanai facing Manoa, canal, and the golf course. Cooking: definitely able to cook small meals here. There is a stove, oven, fridge, sink, and has basic pots/pans. Everything works good.Service: everyone at the front desk has been very kind and friendly. Shoutout to Nicole! She's awesome and a really genuine person. Computer: there is computer access downstairs and you are able to use it, the front desk can provide you with the password. Pool: the pool is small, but it is great since you can reserve it just for your party. It's nice to have a private pool time without strangers in the same pool. You can reserve it for 1 hour. Hours are 8-9pm. There's also a sauna room and a small gym that features 2 treadmills. Parking: FREE. Which is what makes this place so great. I've been able to find parking everyday, although the night time would probably get harder to find. Recommend getting the car back to the hotel earlier and then walking to dinner around the area so you don't lose the spot. Overall, it's been really peaceful and everything I've needed for my stay. I would recommend this place to family/friends who are looking for an affordable place. Taking one star because the hotel is a bit outdated. But they maintain the building and amenities well!

Everything from my original review still stands except for they are currently doing updates. This time we got to stay in an updated room. They were really nice and it felt more modern. I don't love their unglazed wood furniture though it's hard to clean and can stain super easily. Other than that we love just sitting on our balcony here. There are also TONS of restaurants within very short walking distances as well as a canal people bike, run and walk on just down the street. I highly recommend this hotel and if we do come back to Oahu we will for sure stay here again.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Ilima Hotel. It might be my favorite hotel that I've stayed at in Waikiki around the same price given what I was looking for. The staff were also friendly and reasonable. It's also walking distance to the International Marketplace and beach. The room is basically a studio. I came with 2 other people for around a week. We had our own small kitchen with all the kitchen supplies provided such as mugs, bowls, plates, utensils, a coffee maker with free coffee and tea, sponge, dishwashing soap, a drying rack, etc. Basically anything I needed from a kitchen was there. The fridge is also pretty big compared to the mini fridges you often see at hotels. We were able to store leftovers and our own ice cubes (they provide ice cube trays, but I also brought my own). There was also a fairly big dining table where we could eat our take out. Huge difference compared to other hotels where we didn't have a dedicated dining table. Plenty of outlets available. They even had USB outlets by the bed in case you didn't have your charging brick. They had a closet with extra pillows and blankets in case you needed them. There's a laundry room in the hotel where you can pay with your credit card and also buy detergent in the front. Internet was okay. It was fast enough to stream Netflix on my phone, but for some reason too slow to load a lot of things on my laptop, such as Google docs or FaceTime calls. Free parking included. If you've visited Waikiki many times, you find that parking is so expensive at most hotels each night (usually around $20-$40 from my experience), but this hotel's was free. Spaces are a little tight, but you can't beat free. We were never unable to find a spot when we came back from our excursions. They did warn about the possibility of no more available spaces. The only annoying part about our stay was there was construction Monday-Friday happening in the garage. While we were never really around to hear it, I could see it being annoying if I wanted to nap in the middle of the day.

Going on the 3rd month of jackhammers 8 hours a day starting at 9am promptly. Whoever is managing this project should be fired for lack of consideration for several hundred neighbors some like myself who work nights. Complete lack of empathy and foresight to the local ohana.

Update: I can't really recommend this place in good conscience. The staff is the saving grace. And while the hotel is still charming, there are upgrades needed that can't be looked over. #1the bugs. Now we didn't see centipedes and only 1 small dead roach...but the ants!!! And I say ants in the hopes they weren't bed bugs. Def ants in the kitchen despite ours and housekeeping's cleaning. But I woke up with new bites nightly, as did my son. Now, my husband and daughter had zero....so again, fingers crossed they weren't bedbugs. They also need to look around their property more often. "No Blacks" was carved into the wall of the sauna. Idk 'Ilima. Take it floor by floor, room by room. But upgrade things: floors, wallpaper, hinges, the foil-lined stove. 'Ilima will give you a place to sleep for cheap. And it shows.
