2-6-22 have a hankering to see cherry blossoms in Ueno or Korea or UDub or in DC? With the pandemic still unceasingly present, jump into your car, make sure you have something to take photos with and bring a little cutie with you to be in the shots.Yelp Elite Rod is like the Sakura forecaster of Wahiawa. This is the 2 nd year in a row we've come to see the pretty pink fragile blossoms once his photos appear on Yelp. The trees fronting California Avenue by Iliahi School had several cars already parked with avid fans taking photos. We drove on and did come upon some cherry trees further up on the right hand side still on California Avenue but nowhere to park with cars there too then...I remembered Rod's post mentioning a footbridge and Glenn Avenue. Unfamiliar with the area I inputted Glenn Avenue to Maps and our eyes were scanning both sides of the street for a foot bridge. Ta duh!!! On the left hand side we spotted the place. High curbing with no place to park. So...hubs told me to get out of the car with fur bebe who we brought along for the ride. He went to find parking on a side street.Come my little fur bebe let's take a look. There was a family with a tripod taking photos so I moved and waited on the side. When they were done I asked them where they parked. The man said at the botanical gardens. Sure enough it's right across the short foot bridge. Next time. While I was getting some selfies another man came in my direction and told me there's more trees by the church. I asked him do you know what the name of the church is? He thought for a moment and said Nazarene.Perhaps next time we'll check it out but we had to hele on since I had placed our lunch order before we left the house and it was WAY past 25 minutes.Hope the cherry blossoms will last two more weeks so we can bring Doc here to see the beautiful fragile pink blossoms that bloom it seems only around this time every year.Treat yourself to see them yourself but don't wait too long.

I thought Iliahi park would be the perfect spot to chill and view the Sakura trees...when they're in full bloom lol...not yet.I though google steered me wrong as I turned and noticed the Elementary School but fronting that is the park and it's lush spacious area with a playground and basketball court and their parking apparently is in the school lot.I see an impressive amount of Sakura trees they have here but as of the end of January 2022 they aren't close to blooming yet so hopefully I will be back to see them and enjoy it's beauty in this park.Thank you!!

No I didn't fall and hit my head. A review of the intersection at Ala Moana and Ward is not next, nor is the blind crosswalk on King.CHERRY BLOSSOM REVIEW!Iliahi Park is the best and easiest place to see Wahiawa's cherry blossoms.Excess trivia: A single cherry blossom tree was brought from Okinawa in the 1950's. Since that time, seeds from the original tree were cultivated and the trees offered to anyone in Wahiawa who wanted them. The story of the cherry blossom trees made it back to Japan and in 1985 Masahito, Prince Hitachi planted the trees now fronting Leilehua High School. There are over 500 trees that will bloom (provided there was a few cold days) between the end of January and the start of February. The park has approximately 40 trees that front California Ave and wind their way through the parking lot of the neighboring Iliahi Elementary school. Easy to park and enjoy. When in peak bloom, the small trees are covered with vibrant pink blossoms.Note: Larger cherry blossom trees are plentiful near the end of California Ave and the small side streets past Iliahi Park. Another concentration is along Glen Ave.As of this review (25 Jan 2021), the trees have dropped all their leaves and are covered in buds. A few trees have some open flowers. COVID pandemic has a silver lining. There are NO organized trolley tours , festivals, or celebrations this year. Enjoy the blossoms in peace and serenity.

Isn't President Washington famous for chopping down the cherry tree?Well...on this 2021 President's Day, I decided to take a drive out to Wahiawa, on the Island of Oahu, and look at the Cherry Blossom trees that are famous in this rural town. They reminded me of my travels to other sites known for cherry blossoms:In 2012, my mom and I visited my sister whose husband was assigned to The Pentagon at the time. The Cherry Blossom Festival was in full swing, especially since they were celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the gifting of the Cherry Blossom trees from Tokyo City (Japan) to the City of Washington DC (United States). In 2019, I was fortunate to join a Spring tour group to Japan that made it to cherry blossom season! The delicate, pale pink flowers (also known as "Sakura") were so beautiful! Families gathered beneath the shade of the trees for picnics at the parks! It was a wonderful experience! Our cherry blossom trees in Wahiawa aren't as magnificent as those at Our Nation's Capital nor as plentiful as the ones at the Land of the Rising Sun. However, our Hawaiian trees are just as valuable and pretty! In fact, they are second on the list of Where To See Cherry Blossom Trees in the USA! They're full of lively bees, butterflies, and birds! Note: park for free along the street. I wanted to park at the adjacent elementary school. However, since it was a holiday, the gate was closed. I parked next door - in the driveway of a house for sale...

I've been on a park streak lately visiting parks around Mililani and Wahiawa. I found this one near the top of Wahiawa Heights. Such a beautiful play area and very spacious park with a playground, basketball court and restroom located farther in near Iliahi elementary. Parking is in the school lot, the gates close at 4pm or park near the fence alongside California avenue (street parking). It's a public park that closes between 10pm-5am. Lots of folks of all ages walk along the side walk going in towards the school. As always, I'm alert at all times but haven't run into sketchy people. Since the park is fenced off and far away from the street, I have no issues letting my littles run freely. Absolutely no complaints thus far, it's a family friendly park!

Great park to bring the kids and their furry friends. It's an on-leash dog park complete with the playground, basketball court and bathrooms. The playground is one of those new ones without the slides. So just climbing for the kids. The grounds are always clean and cared for. Great for the dogs to get out and stretch their legs. Just to be clear, this park is part of the school, so you won't be able to park in the parking lot on the weekends. You can however park on the grass bordering the fence line. On the weekdays though you can park inside after school is dismissed.

Great park! Nice and big grassy area. Allows leashed dogs but many people bring their dog to run around off leash. There is also a playground for kids and restrooms. We love coming here to do laps around the large grass area and play on the playground. We will be coming back here a few times a week because it's really close to our house and usually empty during most of the day. It seems like it's a part of Iliahi elementary school because it's on the same property but it is a separate park. It's very clean and provides some shady areas. Probably would be good for parties or sport practices which I also see there periodically.
