Ice Monster Hawaii

Ice Monster Hawaii is a Taiwanese dessert place specializing in iced desserts. The unique thing about this place is that instead of topping finely shaved ice with flavored syrups, a block of ice with fresh fruit infused in it is shaved to create a light texture like cold cotton candy. Fresh Mango Sensation ($17) - This was a light and fluffy mango shaved ice dessert complimented with a mango sorbet, panna cotta and topped off with fresh mango and a mango sauce. Although it was pricey, it was refreshing and didn't taste artificial like the other shave ice places. A slightly smaller version is available for $3 less. Other fruit flavors are available but mango is their most popular one.Overall, I really enjoyed the mango sensation here for it's uniqueness and taste. Other flavors that are available are papaya, strawberry, tapioca, matcha and coffee. Only 1 flavor is available per order, and this dessert really needs to be shared with multiple people, it's not designed for 1 person.

We were staying at a close by hotel and found Ice Monster for a sweet treat after dinner. The shaved ice here is more of a Taiwanese style rather than Hawaiian. Fluffy layers of shaved snow texture! Opted to share a small fresh strawberry ($12.80) and small fresh mango ($12.80) with each came with a small side of sorbet, fresh fruit, and jelly. No artificial flavors here - you can taste the freshness of the fruits in every bite. We asked for an extra side of condensed milk to top the ice and it was delicious!

Not your traditional shave ice! They use fresh fruits and their portions are out of control (recommend sharing). The inside has plenty of seating...picture a trendy ice cream shop on the mainland, not a hole in the wall spot. Close to beaches and centrally located in Waikiki. Great fast service. Mix it up and give this spot a shot!

Heard this Ice Monster was yummy. Not too busy. Placed our order. Wait time about 10 minutes. Very refreshing. We ordered the fresh mango sensation shaved ice. The mango was sweet! Yum! The whole thing was delicious! There's are tables to dine at. Atmosphere is nice, not too loud nor crowded.

The free sample definitely got me! They were handing out samples of the mango out front while we were walking and it was so tasty, light and refreshing. The small is humongous and definitely is shareable if you don't mind sharing. I got the mango sensation which was with panna cotta, fresh mango and mango sauce. At first I was amazed on how large the serving was and that there was no way we were going to eat all of it even with 2 of us sharing but nope we finished it, it was soooo good.

I've had Ice Monster a few times during my visits to Oahu. We always walk by it, and on one particular day, we decided to try the free sample offered by an employee. Initially, we didn't think much of it, but we later returned to purchase some!We chose the papaya shaved ice, which had a unique flavor unlike the typical strawberry or matcha varieties you usually see. The papaya was incredibly flavorful and delicious. Luckily, there was no line when we visited, so we were able to get our dessert quickly. However, the table we sat at was a bit sticky, and it was positioned behind the trash, which gave off a sticky odor. Despite that, we enjoyed our shaved ice and will return again.

I was drawn in by the $3.90 mango slushy -- it's a small size but so good. It had a great mango flavor and consistency. Makes you want to go for some of the other items. Plenty of indoor seating.

The last standing Ice Monster, and it's here in Honolulu. Growing up on Ice Monster back in Taiwan, I can tell you this is a total nostalgia kick especially since they are no more in Taiwan or anywhere else for that matter.While most of Hawaii is going to be known for their shaved ice, what Ice Monster will always have going for it is that its snow ice rather than just frozen water, and made out of things like milk and other ingredients to create a slightly different consistency and flavor profile for its base.Being the only Ice Monster left, and outlasting its era in Taiwan, the menu that is offered here is the most basic version of their menu. They do have all of the basic flavors, such as the strawberry, mango, matcha, boba, and all the other mainstay flavors. None of their specialty/seasonal flavors were offered when I was there, assuming they still do those, but would be ice to see. Get it? Lol...Anyways. Got to try out both the strawberry and boba flavors this time around over two visits. Just like the og Ice Monster that I've known and grew up on so no complaints.If you're interested in an icy treat here in the downtown area of Waikiki, this is a great spot for it. Just a bit over from the International Market for those who might be interested.

Such good Taiwanese shaved ice! They give large portions, they're super friendly and there's plenty of space to just relax after walking around. What more could you want? In all seriousness, the shaved ice we ordered was delicious with huge portions (we both ordered smalls). Two people can easily share this. The mangoes and strawberries tasted perfect and we didn't wait long at all. 10/10 would recommend!

Ice Monster Hawaii is a large, spacious cafe. The decor is very cute and adorable. A popular dessert place that gets crowded.The service was friendly.My wife and I shared a small...Mango Sensation: A light, fluffy Mango Ice Dessert complimented with their original Mango Sorbet, Panna Cotta and topped off with fresh mango and their special mango sauce (4/5). This was so refreshing. The fresh mangos were sweet and soft. I think they are Alphonso mangos. It was interesting to see the machines that had to shave the ice. The sorbet and panna cotta were nice additions that we've never seen before.Come check them out!
