Ian's Music Studio

We looked for an instructor for my son to continue lessons and glad we found Ian. My son has shown growth and surprisingly continued interest. We believe it's because of Ian. He doesn't mind teaching music my son is interested in. We also receive weekly piano pieces/videos to watch and listen to. Like other reviews have said, Ian can be very accommodating and it's a bonus the studio is just minutes away near Waikele shopping center.

Ian is simply the BEST! My 3 children have been taking lessons from Ian for the past 4 years. I love that he encourages his students to create music of their own right from the start. My kids love making up their own songs and having Mr. Ian add his own harmonies to it. I also love that he records their duets and sends them to me. He also sends out a weekly email with a piano piece that he teaches you about, then you can listen to it on youtube. My kids all have ADHD, and Ian has been so patient with them. We are very grateful to have such a great musician willing to teach our kids this valuable skill.

My son has been taking piano lessons from Ian for 2 years. My son has really progressed and enjoys piano. Ian has been flexible with scheduling and very easy to communicate with. He uses the Adventures in Piano curriculum. He has nice piano for the students to use.

Ian is an outstanding piano teacher. I began lessons with Ian in January of this year, and I let him know my goal was to have fun. Ian is patient and super knowledgeable, and I appreciate how he understands and adjusts to my unique goals and capabilities. I'm still having a lot of fun, ten months in, and I feel much more confident in my ability to read musical notation and play correct rhythms. I enthusiastically recommend Ian as a piano teacher - he's the best.

My daughter has been taking lessons from Ian for a couple of years now. Before and during Covid and Ian has been Awesome! He has made every effort to support our Ohana even offering virtual lessons via Skype which has been great because we were not comfortable meeting face to face due to Covid. Through it all our daughter has shown tremendous growth and I'm extremely grateful. I don't know if other instructors could have been as flexible and effective in his course offering. Mahalo!

It wasn't good experience learning the piano at the Ian's Music studio. No having fun! No learning! And no having recitals at all!

This is my first time taking Piano lessons and I am happy that I found Ian! I saw his information on yelp and gave him a call to set up a lesson. From the first lesson I could tell that Ian is knowledgeable and patient. He teaches in a way that is simple and easy to understand. Not only has my ability to play the piano improved but also my understanding of music theory has increased. I like that he also incorporates fun pop songs to learn. I would recommend taking Piano lessons from Ian!

Ian has been teaching piano to my grandson for several years. He's a master at working with children. He's very patient and knows how to redirect attention and find alternative ways of teaching when things just aren't connecting. Ian's lesson rates are very reasonable and well worth every penny.
