Shopping in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii...On the second level of Windward Mall... You will find a special store that is destination worthy! It's called:I Mana Ka Ōiwi... We Are The Descendants...This shop will be here for a limited time because it's seasonal. The vendors are small business owners. They're all in one place for your shopping convenience!I was drawn into I Mana Ka Ōiwi because I am fascinated by authentic Hawaiian items. For example, I've always wanted a Ni'ihau shell necklace. They are rare and expensive. I saw some earrings and other jewelry in the display case... But I was afraid to ask... Haha!I also looked at the Lauhala hats. I tried to win a topless papale (hat) on Instagram, but... Alas... You cannot win them all. Aunty Ipo, the creator of the hats, approached me and encouraged me to try them on. She showed me various heights, widths, and styles. I really liked the one that her daughter had made. Aunty said that she would give me a discount and add an artificial plumeria flower. Sold.Tiamana was the efficient, friendly cashier. He was so professional and knowledgeable! He processed the transaction flawlessly. I saw him again the next day when I returned to the store to show Aunty how I paired her hat with a Wai'ono wrap. She was really happy!Tiamana saw me looking at the Ni'ihau shell jewelry again. He knew that I really wanted the Ni'ihau shell necklace and let me try one on. He was able to tell me the pros and cons of the various lengths and styles. Ahhh... I think I will be returning for one soon... I put one on hold so that I could dream about it and want it more... LOL!Note: I also like the t-shirts with Hawaiian phrases... And the soaps, tote bags, and other accessories for gifts for friends on the mainland!

This place... one of my favs in Windward Mall. Finally a place that has so many Hawaiian Vendors with a variety of local Hawaiian and Polynesian attire ranging from casual to elegant. Not to mention the jewelry, hats, towels and anything local you can think of. Not to mention the staff was full of Aloha as we entered and continued to shop. My friends and I all have different taste. So it's nice to have a place we can all find something we like. The kicker... I saw my Niece, Tatelyn's Hawaiian Hats. Gets better.... My daughter's pics next to the hats that I took for her line of hats. Go figure. Like I said, good stuff there. Check it out

I. Love. This. Store. So. Much. Ok, hands down one of the best places to get or purchase from locally owned Hawaiian businesses. I have gotten so many great language pieces that have helped me along my path to learning 'ōlelo Hawai'i. The staff is so so so friendly and welcoming. The selection of clothes makes preparing for either a relaxing evening at home or a nice pupu evening with the girls so fun! I love all the hand made pieces and if you have questions, they staff will explain it all.Great place for gifts, and if you're a tourist, a great place to learn more about the islands you're vacationing on. Mahalo nui loa titas and brothers that work here! Love your passion for the culture and keeping the doors open so we all have a place to shop to support local Hawaiians doing their craft and skills to perfection!!!!

The phone number says to text message if you need immediate assistance. Whoever messaged me was wonderful in giving me the store updated hours. She also sent me pictures of the item I was in search of. On top of that she also gave me another store I could find the item I was in search of. When I arrived at the store 4 staff members went looking for more artificial haku leis, because they are placed in different parts of the store. I truly felt the aloha. As I was leaving the cashier gave me well wishes for the event I needed the lei for.

A friend was visiting and we were walking off some of the delicious veggie stir fry we had at Big City Diner. I was scanning the stores in the mall for something she would not be able to find back on the mainland when I spotted an unfamiliar but unmistakably Hawaiian name and said let's go there! We found plenty of clothes for the hane, wahine, and keiko in both traditional and modern prints and styles. These are not 3/$20 aloha shirts or dresses you might find in Chinatown, but locally designed and made (I think) t shirts, tunics and dresses. I opted for a papale print dress (with pockets!!), but next time I go I think I will treat myself to the canoe paddle earrings ($35). I also had my eye on a cherry blossom print top, but as I explained to the auntie working at the dressing room, all those Christmas cookies I ate made the straight fit a big snug right now. A friend always holds a Merrie Monarch viewing party and before this year's I think I will be back for one straw papale (or two!). And I know I will find something beautiful when I do.

Absolutely love your store. You're Aloha spirit and energy was just so cool! I'm a local girl born and raised in Hawaii live in California now, but came back to visit my dad and came to the mall to go shopping with my sister. Ran into your store because it looks super cool and ended up buying a bunch of stuff your, essential oils candles, purse !!! Everything was SO beautifully placed, and your spirit was awesome! Was interested in getting some more Pikake oil sent to me here in California. Don't see a website to order anyway I could have you ship me some!
