Hung Hang Seafood Market, is a tiny store on Kekaulike St. Look for the fish tank, various plants and fruits that displayed out in front. Adjacent to Papa's Cafe. Hung Hang has a small assortment of fresh fish, seafood, and fresh made fish cake. I am only here for the fish cake, when my mom needs me to pick up fish cake, usually when she does a bittermelon harvest. I look forward to the refreshing stuffed bittermelon soup. Thanks @ my momma for all your hard work! After getting the memo from my mom, this is the only reason to make a stop at Hung Hang, to purchase fish cake. There are 2 types of fish cake, I usually get the one that's lower price one. Either $7.95 or $10.95 per pound. Their fish cake is fresh and although I miss the business that my mom, used to buy fishcake from, during small kid time at Oahu Market, the one at Hung Hang will do. Hung Hang is a really tiny store and although it does look messy and clutter, I am only in and out of there in less than 10 minutes, and always for the fish cake. The owner is nice, but sometimes I don't think she understands me. Cash only or EBT cards. There are plants for sale, out front which I believe belongs to the owner's mom, but my opinion, it is on the pricey side. All in all, Hung Hang is a convenient stop for me when my mom gives me the memo for fish cake, I will be back again! Check out Hung Hang Market if you are in need of fish cake, fresh fish, and seafood!

Sometimes you're lucky when sent on a "salmon" hunt (not to be confused with goose hunt). At times I'm given such special tasks of ingredients so I check out who has what in Chinatown. Yes, it's true that the early bird gets the worm. And at other times it's who can find that gem.Recently I was asked to find salmon. Most would either think of Costco or Sam's Club. In Chinatown there are a handful of fresh fish and seafood stalls but one afternoon I could only find copper salmon fillets or salmon scraps. Copper salmon to me is too lean and therefore dry easily and less tasty. I was running out of hope until I came across Hung Hang Seafood Market (HHSM).Located just a few stores down from Sun Chong Grocery on Hotel St, HHSM is a very small seafood stall offering fresh fish (including live fish), other seafood and fresh house-made Chinese fish cake. This business is very small with minimal one or two staff to assist you. English is understood here but it was easier to use my Chinese speaking skills.Twice I've purchased King salmon here and both times were fantastic. Fresh fish with great marbling enabled tasty meals enjoyed by all. We marinated the salmon and cooked them in foil with fresh mushrooms. Yummo!!!I've also seen other live fish and reptiles here that's meant at pets for sale. I also noticed house salted fresh duck eggs for sale, too.Although HHSM may be difficult to find, I found both occasions a great place for fresh King salmon so if this is what you're looking for, walk over to the Makai side of Hotel St, just a few doors down from Sun Chong Grocery.2018 #15
