Never before have I met someone as dedicated, passionate and professional as Kimberly. I own a multi-genre dance, fitness and aerial arts studio downtown called Polearity Studio and ever since the first day that we opened our doors, Kimberly has impressed me with her commitment to the Zouk community time and time again.So much so that I was inspired to actually join her dance team to compete in an international Zouk congress in Mexico. Unfortunately I got very sick when we arrived so I was virtually bed ridden the entire trip! True to form her whole team was so caring, nurturing and helpful that I was able to get well enough to brave the stage with all of the Honolulu Zouk members and many people said that we put on a fantastic performance despite my condition! She's always reliable, on time and the whole team has never given me anything other then positivity and Aloha!You will not be disappointed!! I definitely recommend her as an instructor, performer, associates and friend.

The Honolulu Zouk community of dancers is amazing. You can go in as an absolute beginner or as a trained dancer and they will have a class to challenge and inspire you. Kimberly Loo, the head mistress of zouk in Honolulu, is an extraordinary dancer trained in everything from ballet to contemporary to samba to a billion partner dances and BOY can she dance. She will dance your cheeks off. Face and butt. And that doesn't really make sense, but when you witness her movement you'll understand.Kim also has a core group of amazing instructors including Mahina, who is my role model for females who lead. I want to be Mahina when I grow up. If you have zero experience dancing, or have never danced with a partner, there's beginner level classes where you'll feel welcome and supported. They also ship in jaw-dropping guest instructors from around the globe several times a year, bringing the best in zouk right to your front door at a very reasonable price.If you don't like to touch people or be touched, this is not the dance for you. If you love connection and flow and an inclusive, open-minded community, try it! They also have beginning adult ballet and non-partnered choreography classes.And if you are interested in performing? Honolulu Zouk offers LOADS of performance opportunities. Loads. Ranging from festivals to studio performances to Ala Moana centerstage and more.They have Sunday evening classes at Polearity Studio at the edge of Chinatown and also offer several classes throughout the week at various locations. Their basic classes are, I believe, $100 for a 10 class card or $15 drop-in, they offer student discounts, and package deals for visiting instructors. I feel I have been extremely useful with this review.The end.

After graduating from college, I thought I would never be able to perform again with a team and find a home in another dance group. I couldn't have been more wrong. Honolulu Zouk has provided me with constant inspiration and a safe space, and it has provided me with NUMEROUS opportunities to dance and perform. The Honolulu Zouk community has been so inviting and everyone there is so motivated to learn. There are dancers within the community that have never danced before, and there are dancers that have been training for years...and each and every one of us are all in it together and have something to learn from each other! I am inspired by all our dancers, and the teachers are phenomenal. Each teacher brings their own perspective and heart to the community, and all of them combined create the perfect environment for dance growth!I have done some latin dance in the past, primarily salsa, but I have never danced zouk before. Zouk is an amazing partner dance from Brazil that is primarily about the connection between you and your partner. I have never before felt such magic on the dance floor until I started dancing zouk. I truly mean it when I say that I feel at home once I enter the studio with Honolulu Zouk. To top it all off, the choreography that this team puts out is so beautiful and fun! You can do heels classes, zouk routines, and more as each instructor/choreographer has something special to bring to the table! If you have ever been interested in dance, I urge you to come to a dance class or social with us to try it out!

Honolulu Zouk is a collection of amazing humans who are more than helpful to welcome you into the world of zouk. The instructors are patient and friendly, and give easy to follow instructions and hands on experience with the instructors when needed. They often have you switch dance partners, so it's a good place to get out of your comfort zone and learn how to move with different types of people. I highly recommend checking out one of their sessions to learn about this fun and sensual partner dance!

I walked into studio with no knowledge of Zouk. I was greeted by warm dancers of all ages and sizes. They made me fit right on in...best experience eva!!

Kimberly Loo is as kind, welcoming and knowledgeable as they come, with an incredibly prolific and diverse background in movement and dance. She is professional and attentive to her students, and produces high-energy, creative performances. The Honolulu Zouk class environment is supportive and inclusive above all else. They really emphasize that all dance students respect each other's boundaries, and cultivate an environment where everyone feels comfortable enough to vocalize their own. Whatever level of dance you come in with, know your ability on the dance floor will improve, as well as your body awareness and coordination.
