Honolulu Sushi

Lunch in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu, Hawaii...My friend in San Diego pointed out this Hot New Business... Ok... I've been to the original location of Honolulu Sushi on Ke'eaumoku Street a while ago... This is its second location... On Piikoi Street...Let's investigate! There's a free parking lot behind the building - enter from Waimanu Street. The parking is shared with HANGANG and ReMixx. Be careful of the huge potholes. The driveway closest to Piikoi Street is only wide enough for one vehicle. The next driveway (closest to South Shore Market) is wider.Walk around the corner to Piikoi Street for the entrance. Inside the cozy, bright, clean, air conditioned space, there's a few tables and chairs for dining-in.Country music was playing in the background. It was amusing and pleasant enough.Condiments, utensils, and napkins are self-service... Located near the cash register where service was efficient and polite!I ordered #15: Mix Nigiri, and #26: Mul Naengmyeon. Both were delicious!My favorite of the Mix Nigiri was the Unagi and Ebi. The drizzle on the rolls was a bit spicy for me. The Mul Naengmyeon was excellent! Who doesn't like Icy broth and bouncy arrowroot noodles on a hot (88°F) day in Honolulu? I scraped off some of the red gochujang sauce to reduce the chili pepper kick. I liked the fresh slivers of cucumber, the hard boiled egg (half), and the sweet sour soup - which I drank like a beverage! I would get this again!Thanks for the lunch suggestion! I'm thinking about ordering a party tray in the future... Everything looks good!

Quality of food isn't the best. I had old fish that was covered by sauce to hide the condition of the fish. Food containers and packaging is nice. I informed them of a food allergy and ordered food that didn't contain my allergy. The food contained what I was allergic to. Never ordering or coming back. Establishments that don't listen to customer health is concerning.

tl;dr - strikes the right balance between price and quality for sushi to go. When I want take out sushi that is a step up from the grocery store but doesn't cost an arm and a leg, this is my go to spot. I often think people probably pass this place by since it's so close to Foodland and Nijiya market, but I think its nigiri is superior to both places for not a lot more money. Honolulu Sushi nigiri has thicker pieces of fish/less rice, and better quality fish. I also like their combos and often get the nigiri w poke option which is a perfect amount of food most days. Sometimes, if I'm really hungry, I might add on the poke bombs which are *super packed* w poke and rice. The restaurant itself is bright, clean, and modern, but a little too sterile w the metal furniture and fluorescent lighting. As such, it seems to be mainly a to-go operation. I rarely see people eating in, and I always get my food to go. Mostly, I order in person, but occasionally I call in my order. Either way, it's prepared quickly, and I can be on my way without much hassle.

I tried the dynamite sushi and it did not disappoint at all. It was very good. We did takeout and it was still good. I would recommend this place to try. The lady that took my order was very nice and helpful!

We love this spot! It's the best balance of quality and cost for sushi in the neighborhood and everyone is really kind. Inside is very clean, but it's more of a takeout spot. We like to take our order to Ala Moana beach park. And they just started a Buy 1 Get 1 Happy Hour deal for maki sushi rolls! 2p - 5p it's an awesome deal.

Great little spot to grab fresh sushi. Quick service - no crowd. Great prices close to everything.

The food was amazing! Me and my family headed there after hanging out in Waikiki for lunch and the fish was super fresh. Definitely recommend the platters!

The sushi was super thin on the Nigiri compared to the rice , and fish was not cut professionally, almost like jagged in some places. The quality of the fish was just not that good.I ordered a rainbow roll and again something, 3 times the amount of rice compared to the sushi on top.I should have known something was up when the place was empty at lunchtime when I walked in. The website looks inviting, but the overall experience did not.I won't be going back.

Great and friendly service and good sushi! Definitely will return. Have a nice range of Makis and different dishes.
