First time being here. Its a good place to stay for cheap. It is currently $35 a night. It is located near downtown Honolulu. It's not that busy around right now. Chinatown is a few blocks from there. There also a Walmart and Ross a few blocks from there. There is 2 Unions inside the building and a few blocks from the other union halls. A good place for Sailors to stay while looking for work. They require you to have an MMC, ID, and credit card/cash. The office is open from 8am-5pm, there an elevator nearby that takes you up to your room where you'll stay. They will give you a card and key. Card is for entering your room and the key is for entering the building outside of normal hours. The room have a twin bed with a drawer, a chair and little open closet. There a public restroom for men and women, each have a shower room. The shower room is two stalls that are open with cold/hot water (on the men side). They are very clean and well maintained, I would still suggest you wear shower slippers. There is a parking lot next to the Sailor Home. The parking lot is $8 an hour or $25 per day. There is a camera that log you entering the parking lot.No Smoking, Drinking Alcohol or Gambling inside.Breakdown: Nice and Well Maintain Rooms5/5Price: $35 a day.Required: MMC, ID and Credit Card/Cash PaymentNormal Hours: 0800-1700Good Location: Near Walmart/Ross and Chinatown2 Union Halls inside the Building and A few blocks from the Other Union Halls.Restroom, Shower and Kitchen AreaParking: $8 an hour or $25 per day.You must sign a rule and regulations paper stating that you will not drink or smoke or gamble on the premise.Smoking is allowed only outside at designated area.Breaking the rule will get you terminated from the Sailor Home.

Save your money! The manager of the Saliors Home, Marty has no respect for men who work half their lives out at sea. Instead of providing basic hospitality, he takes advantage of and corners sailors via extorsion, forcing them to buy him gifts (such as cigarets). If you dont cooperate with him he simply kicks you out on the spot. Example: He sold/stole/lost my bike to support his bad habbits, he claims it was bc "I downloaded a movie on his internet", ( he seriously is sick/crazy) later he abruptly kicked me out bc of my surfboard being locked up at the bike rack, (he has a rule which states no surfboards INSIDE the building, the rack where it was locked up is outside). Its a wonder how he gets away with treating sailors the way he does.. Shame on him for taking advantage of others who dont know any better! Im not suprised there arent more reveiws considering the majority of people who stay there arent computer (or even English litterate).

It is now $50/night and seems to be managed just as poorly as this "Marty" before. Its saving grace is its location to those looking to dispatch with SIU and MMP. SIU is down below and MMP is 5 minute walk down the street. It is also nearby ample cheap eats and public transportation. Now the ugly...I am no longer comfortable staying here due to the manager Paulie B. On my way to my room, he called me into his office. He wanted to settle the bill for the room and asked me when I had planned on checking out. I told him I won't until after job call. He yelled at me "Get the fuck out of my office, you fat ass!"Thankfully, there was someone else in the room who saw and heard the entire incident. He was just taken aback as I was. Paulie yelled again "Get the fuck out of my office, you fat ass and come back when you figure it out!"The witness and I started to reproach him. He was shaking his head saying you can't be saying things like that. Paulie then said "I'm doing it to toughen her up." and he even got more flustered then shooed me out of the office telling me that he'll give me my stay for free due to the New Year holidays. I thanked him and ran out of the office, not wanting to deal with him any further. I learned later, from another guest, that there have been complaints from other females but the board of directors have obviously done nothing.

For $30 a night you get a spotless room, good sized common bathrooms, kitchen privileges, laundry facilities and a central location to all the Maritime Union halls. It is a safe clean place for professional mariners to stay while looking for work in Honolulu. There are many choices for places to eat and shop within walking distance and easy access to mass transportation. This is not a surf hostel, party hotel or bordello. It's a place that is quiet and safe enough to get a good nights rest, get a hot shower in the morning, walk to job call at your union hall, and enjoy Honolulu.
