This is the biggest hidden gem free activity in Honolulu. We were just blown away by this museum and the tour we received by retired Officer Eddie. It's located in the heart of Honolulu at the Beretania St. main Honolulu Police Department Branch. The amount of history was just amazing. I'm big on Hawaiian history, but I just had no idea there was so much about the HPD.We spent just over an hour, but really needed about an hour and a half or two to get the full experience. The best part of this visit, was that it is 100% free. The parking is the only thing that will cost you. I just can't say enough good things about this tour and museum. It is good for young and old, but especially for those who love Hawaii and it's history. This in my book is a must do regardless if your are a resident or a visitor.

Came here to burn an hour or so before getting food because most of the restaurants weren't open until 11amish and it was one of my favorite things we did on our trip. The tour guide was a retired officer (can't remember his name) who did a great job explaining all the history of the HPD. Additionally, he answered all the questions we had to the best of his ability. It was definitely worth it to go and check it out. Best part about it was that it was free!

Great place for locals, returning kama'aina, visitors, lovers of history and any active or retired LEOs!This is a fantastic police Museum, with a huge, well preserved, collection of historical artifacts, dating from the days of the Hawaiian monarchy to present. And no historical presentation can be complete without a well versed, knowledgeable, authority on hand, and that would be Museum curator and retired HPD Officer Dana Fatu Jr. A guided tour with Dana will go a long way in enriching your knowledge of HPD history and lore!

I would like to express my gratitude to you for everything you do for our community and the extraordinary kindness you show. An officer has always been there for my family and me whenever we have required assistance within the boundaries of your area of service. Every single one of them has been polite and helpful. I am grateful to you for everything you do to help keep our community secure.

Officer Dana Fatu was a delightful tour guide. He shared with us the history of law enforcement on the island, beginning with the ancient Hawaiian Kapu, through the kings and queens and to current day. His wit and knowledge made this a most interesting tour. We were looking for something to do on what we thought was going to be a rainy day. So glad we took the time. Highly recommended!

Who knew that the Honolulu Police Department had their own museum? I DID and that's why we had a private VIP tour! Yes, the Home Police Department does have their own Museum located right in the main headquarters of the police department on Beretania Street. You can call ahead and make an appointment and you will get the VIP treatment. I had a friend visiting from China and wanted to show her something that most people do not see so we went to check it out. We had a private tour of the small but packed Police Department Museum. We saw everything from the early days of the Honolulu Police Department to Modern Times. We even covered things like the origin of the police badge and its meaning, the original horseback and motorcycle police, Hawaii Five-O and many other things. Definitely worth checking out!

The museum is about a year old, but I found it to be very popular among locals and great for kids. We arrived early (9am) on a Saturday for a tour. Unbeknownst to us, you can register for a tour at their website. I would recommend that because they had many people that registered that day, like it almost seemed there was a field trip and bus loads of expecting guests to arrive throughout the day. Luckily for us they accepted walk ins. The tour itself was approximately an hour long and you get to view and listen to some historical facts about the history of Honolulu's fire department. You get to see some very old and vintage artifacts, and fire trucks, tools, etc, and listen to some great stories of the past and present. This place is very kid friendly, as my kids got plenty of great photo ops and cool hats to take home. There is even a section for the kids to dress up in firefighter's gear. You can very much tell that the place is still in development, as more items will be added in the near future. Overall the facility is well taken care of and the pride of Honolulu's finest is displayed at this museum.
