Small but mighty. All the Thai ingredients you'll need to make Thai dishes, including mortar and pestle, shallots, garlic, ginger, all kinds of fish sauce and paste, spices, etc. it cost $4.60 for a ginger and a bag of shallots, not the cheapest but also much better deal than if you buy from a regular grocery store! It wasn't hard to find parking on Maunakea st for a quick stop. However, I saw parking enforcement's car there so it looks like now you gotta put money in the meters. It's $3 per hour or 75c per 15 mins, however long you wanna pay for.

Disclaimer: I give honest but rarely 1-star reviews.I looked online for places where I might be able to find Thai-style wide rice noodles. I tried Hong Fa to see if they had any. A past review mentioned there are some in the fridge. When I walked in, the owner was restocking or cleaning. She did not greet me or look up.The fridge didn't have the noodles, darn! I read that the lady (owner) was super kind and helpful. I felt comfortable asking her about the noodles. She snapped at me, very rudely, and said "NO! Next door!" This confused me because the businesses next door sold ready-to-eat food--they were not grocery stores, they were restaurants.I'm sure some may argue that this might be a misunderstanding on my end because of potential cultural differences. However, I grew up with a Korean grandmother who comes across aggressive when she's actually quite kind and loving. This was a customer service issue for sure.I am regretful to report I had a negative experience :(

Noy is a great! I love this market, the wide selection she has, the whole experience I have here is fantastic! She's always ready with advice and tips or tricks and if there's something I need that she doesn't have she knows exactly where I can get it. I'll get more pictures the next time I'm there.Come down to Chinatown, see Noy and take a peek at her market. You'll find some thing for Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. recipes

I stumbled across this Lao/ southeast Asian market and I'm just like WOWW! They have tons of things that is sooooo hard to find on the island! It's owned by a nice Lao lady. I suggest you come here for all your SE Asian goodies! I've been craving for Cambodian style papaya salad since I've moved back home but it was so hard to find the ingredients else where (including the clay mortar & pestol). THEY HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED HERE!! please go and support small business. :)
