Normally I would not go into Waikiki just for canto comfort food, heck I would not go into Waikiki anyways! If you're a local, you know why. But, we had a reservation at 7 pm for another event and my better half wanted to eat here. Located in the Stix Food Hall, formerly known as the Waikiki Yokocho (also previously run by the same guy, so very unclear why they spent so much to rebrand), it's one of the many Asia styled eateries located in the basement. We got the shrimp and pork wonton soup and seafood vegetable over rice. The soup had medium sized wontons that were packed with shrimp and pork. The noodles were chewy and of decent quantity. The broth was a bit one note, but still quite good. The bok choy was fresh and crisp. You can't go wrong with this one if you're looking for a hot bowl of hearty soup. The seafood vegetable stir fry over rice had a solid amount of scallops, shrimp, and squid, accompanied by mushrooms, bok choy, green onion, and carrots over short grain rice, topped with light Asian style gravy. Perfectly seasoned, rice was not mushy, and the flavors worked well together. We cleaned this plate.Seating is open and you more or less pick where you want to sit after talking to the wait staff. Restaurant is clean and well-lit with comfy booths and chairs. Staff are polite and efficient. Bathrooms are shared with the rest of the tenants and the central desk will validate parking for two hours if you spend $35.

This is a popular branch with its original location located in Honolulu Chinatown. This location is inside STIX Asia in Waikiki (formerly Waikiki Yokocho). It seems to be one of the busiest restaurant as well.I've had the steamed spare ribs with black bean as well as the pork fried rice just for a good measure for a restaurant that billed itself as a Hong Kong Cafe.Give me "wok hei" fried rice! and see if you're truly Hong Kong style. While the spare ribs with the black bean sauce was pretty bad, the fried rice was good and I could tasted the little "wok hei" albeit not enough. But I could tasted it. I will show up again soon and will give them another test with another Cantonese classics : Beef Chow FunHow "wok hei" can you go?

HK Cafe has expanded and moved to the entry way of the STIX Asian Food Hall. Take the escalator down and you enter the food hall. As soon as you walk in, it is first place on the right. There are more tables now.Food: I dropped this place one star because they were consistently out of ingredients. The substitutes were not that great, but the food still tastes great. We ordered Singapore noodles the first time and they were out of pork and they gave us pork chops. The pork chops were cut paper thin and you could not see or taste them, but we still had to pay full price, but again it tasted good. The second day, they were still out of pork for Singapore noodles, so we got it with chicken. It tasted good, but we missed the pork. Finally on our last day, we got our pork. It was delicious. Employees: The employees are really nice. Some are nicer, friendlier, than others. We arrived at a odd time and the chefs were eating their meals. We were curious and they were kind and gave us a sample. Everything here is delicious, but we always crave their Singapore noodles!

I was hungry in Waikiki and found this place inside STIX Asia. Service was lightning fast even if there's only one server on that Wednesday evening, Jiayu. Despite being alone, she was attentive to everyone dining yet was very efficient and quick. Food is great. Singapore rice noodles were awesome. Shrimp and pork dumplings were soo flavorful. I recommend this place for their yummy food, great service and very casual relaxed atmosphere. Giving this a 5/5!

I had a mediocre experience at Stix Asia, the food hall on Kalākaua and I vowed to return. I believe HK Cafe opened up since I visited last time in March, 2023.They serve hearty Cantonese food in a casual setting. I had the char siu omelette. HK also has a beef or shrimp version. The char siu was moist & tender, and it was a large portion. I was full even though I didn't eat all the rice. HTC had the beef brisket noodle soup and enjoyed it. She said the beef was tender, and the portion was large. Our waitress was super nice & friendly, and helpful with the menu. I look forward to returning to try some other dishes like chicken wings and Singapore rice noodle.

I recently had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of HK Cafe's new location at Stix Food Hall. As a regular visitor of both Stix and HK Cafe, I was excited to explore the updated layout, meet the new staff, and dive into their expanded menu. One delightful surprise was finding Shanghai Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) available for all-day Dim Sum--a rare treat!I couldn't resist ordering the soup dumplings to see how they stacked up against other spots on the island. They arrived perfectly intact, with none of the soup spilled and presented beautifully without the typical tin casing. They were exceptionally flavorful, easily making them the best Xiao Long Bao I've had in Oahu. The Beef Chow Fun was another standout dish, bursting with authentic Wok Hei, and the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf was simply sublime. HK Cafe has truly set a high standard for Hong Kong-style cuisine in the area, and it's going to be tough for any local spot to surpass the quality and flavor they offer. If you're a fan of genuine Hong Kong dishes, HK Cafe at Stix Food Hall is a must-visit!

We had other choices but saw that they have dim sum. So we decided to give it a try. We had a party of 8. The lady took everyone orders but doesn't remember who order what and she never call out the food order. All they do is put food on the table. We all were confused.. Everyone finished their food but my daughter never received her spicy chicken. We asked over and over again and they said it's coming. After waiting almost 40 minutes. They came back and told me that they don't have any more chili peppers to make the dish. I was so disappointed. Again why they didn't tell us from the beginning .... so they forgot my daughter order but yet they keep telling me 5 more minutes then ask us to order something else. All the food were bland. Disappointed big time. Sorry Hawaii

Positives: it's in Stix. We love Stix. Validated parking nights and weekends.Lots of menu optionsKamaaina discount!Large shrimp in the curry laksaLarge portion of noodlesLove their chili oil it's spicy and very tastyNegatives: a bit pricey for what you get, and the flavor of the curry was very light, almost bland. For being what they're known for, I wanted to be more wowed.I would definitely come back to try more things and would come back just for the chili oil!

The food was delicious but the prices were insanely high. ~$26 for a single vegetarian dish. Service was good and the ambiance- although situated in a classy "food court" - was nice. Although I really enjoyed my experience, due to extremely high prices, I won't be returning.3.5/5

Very excited to see this place but can't get excited by the Laksa unfortunately. Was it bad, it was like bad pizza, still good but not great. There are better examples of Laksa on island fortunately. I took home the beef chow fun, that was decidedly better. I am not giving up on this place. Will report back after the next visit.
