You'll find the Hawaii State Art Museum across from Iolani Palace along Hotel Street. I prefer this museum on first Fridays when there's themed exhibits, food, music and entertainment.

Came here a few times to look around (i love that it's free, and the parking in Ali'i Place has the best rates, and it's right across from the museum!), so this review is long overdue, but I recently went for a Yelp Elite Event, the Family Sunday FUNday event. I love the cute Mori shop inside, and the security guards are all super kind and helpful. The Sculpture Garden is my favorite part of the museum, because it's great for pictures and it's a super cute concept! The second floor has a "learning art" section, where visitors can play with different mediums like velcro, colors, pipes, etc. and every time I come with my friends, we love spending time in here.

Personal favorite place to get gifts - it's all made here in Hawaii! I've gotten prints, cards, mugs, bowls, magnets, books, chocolates, and soaps here, all made by local artists and artisans. The offerings change frequently so if you see something you like, get it, because it may not be there next week!

Really nice museum. Has a good selection of local art. Worth the time. They also have docents work walk around and answer questions...so good. You shouldn't miss this jewel.
