Checked out what's going on in Maunakea Marketplace and found this vendor with Indian and Nepalese food. Himalayan Kitchen is another one of these simple setups to be honest. It basically is one of the vendors in the food hall and you order and eat at one of the shared tables. Has to be as authentic as it gets. They have a pretty good selection. Basically it gives a few choices of what to get. It's got enough things for various flavors and preferences. They have options to get one, two, or three items of whatever. A lot are made with meat but there's some that aren't. It's $12 to get one item. Taro And Squash Fusion was the one for vegans. Items change up daily so keep on checking back. The food hall can have a bad smell like fish but it's not always like this. Also there's some outdoor seating in the courtyard. This allows groups to order from different vendors and eat together in one place. Good place to get some authentic Indian and Nepalese food. It's closed Mondays. There's plenty of things for meat eaters as well as for vegans and vegetarians.

Lunch in Honolulu's Chinatown...Searching our Yelp apps for Hot New Businesses, Irene and I agreed to go to a place where we can take advantage of free street parking on a Sunday. Himalayan Kitchen opened this third location (the other two are in Kaimuki and Ala Moana) in the food court of Maunakea Marketplace. It's near the door closest to Pauahi Street and Maguro Brothers. Service could improve. The cashier gave my Garlic Naan to the customer after me. Luckily, Irene was paying attention and pointed out that I was supposed to get that order of Garlic Naan since the customer after me asked for a plain naan (bread).Uhg! I was given a new Garlic Naan and the plain one. YAY! Thank you!I also ordered a 3-entree plate: saag lamb (delicious), butter chicken (tender and yummy), and taro & Squash Fusion (spicy to me). My plate came with rice. I was stuffed - maybe because I ordered too much!?!? And portions were generous!Too bad the food court is not renovated. I would like more air-conditioning, please ...and a cleaner environment!

Nepali and Indian cuisine in Chinatown...A refreshing twist in from the usually Asian foods found in the area and why not take a tour and dip into the variety that we're lucky to have here in Hawaii though not the expert in this type of foods as I haven't been in the region or have experience the culture but knew that I'd be in for some spice in my life. This newer shop is more an express rather than the dine in like the other location and is found in Maunakea Marketplace in the heart of Chinatown which makes it easy to access as there are multiple entrances as I found parking right on N King Street so it was just walking through Kekaulike getting there.Thank you Nadine for the suggestion especially Sunday though crowded is free parking so it's a matter of finding the spot which I did so it was a easy stroll and find as it's grouped with other food stalls and the vibe is relaxing with a few tables available so that enjoying your bite is easy in the shaded area versus in the hot sun.I know the volume they so generously portion out so it was just the single plate for me and an easy choice of Butter Chicken along with rice it was a yummy paring and the kind gentleman asked if I wanted vegetables which I did started to prepare some to order and it was nice side along with my meal. The express style is very fast and convenient and though there are some language barrier the staff was so pleasant it's nice to see that many come here to enjoy something that's not usually found in the area.Thank you!

Brand new Indian Buffet next to Maguro bros in the Maunakea food court. Everything we tried was good but I should have ordered it more spicy. Prices were fair and service was friendly.

Maunakea location is convenient but the taste is different from the Kaimuki and Kailua locations. I do look forward to improvements. Even the garlic naan bread didn't taste as good. I am optimistic!

An absolute gem in the heart of Honolulu's Chinatown. Himalayan Kitchen on Maunakea Street is soooo bomb, with the best flavors and so many options!!Every dish had a perfect balance of spices, and the portions were generous. We got the garlic naan, an assortment of yummy sauces, and the mix tandoori - a combination of tandoor chicken, charred shrimp, lamb, and fish that I absolutely adored. If you're in Chinatown, don't miss out on this hidden treasure. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

Insert drool face emoji whenever Himalayan Kitchen is mentioned as a dinner spot among my friends. With their new location in Chinatown, it's not just for dinner anymore; it's perfect for a lunch break for me and other downtown workers. My go-to order is the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan, and I can't resist their mango lassi (though I'm not sure if it's available at this location yet). Highly recommend for anyone craving a delicious, satisfying meal!
