Highway Inn is an absolute gem! The local flavors are absolutely delicious every single time --every dish tasted like it was made with care and tradition. The beef stew was thick, rich, and perfectly savory, hitting all the right comfort food notes. And to top it all off, the haupia was the perfect sweet, creamy finish.Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Highway Inn never disappoints. Can't imagine life without the masters of flavor here! Oh and service? 100% Aloha. If you're looking for authentic local cuisine, this is the place to be.

The amount of time for the food to come out was good. Place was half full at 6pm on a Saturday. The server and host was very pleasantEverything we had was on point. There's been alquite a change in pricing since the last time we were here but it's been a while. For the food pictured in my review, a fruit punch and a Michelob ultra, my total was $67.49

Haven't been to any Highway Inn restaurants in a while and never did try this location until last week. Our server, he was so nice and attentive. Checked on us a few times but was not annoying about it. Food was delicious, my daughter and I shared the Hawaiian plate and the poke. Not going to lie, the poke price was very high. I know it said market price on the menu but that little container of poke in the pick was more than the Hawaiian plate! I will not mark them down for that though because my fault for not asking. I really liked the vibe of this restaurant over the one in town, the layout of the restaurant was nice. Would return if I was in the area.

We were craving Hawaiian food yesterday (Aloha Friday) & went to Highway Inn Waipahu. As a family of 3 with a toddler we wanted to beat the dinner rush so we went at 5:30PM and there was no wait. They even have kids books and a table with toys there which was a major plus for me as a mom (in case we did have to wait). We ordered the chicken lau lau combo and Kalua pig combo. We made both our meals super combos for an extra price for an additional portion. My husband got the chicken long rice & I got more kalua pig to share with our little one. All the food hit the spot!!However the main reason we came to Highway Inn was for the HAUPIAAAAA. We've had it before at the town location and loved the thick coconutty dessert & couldn't wait to come back for more! Waipahu location has its own shared lot with UPS store.

Angelo was our server and he was great.Pros + Food was delicious. A friend who is local to Hawaii highly recommended this place. + Location was easy to find. Apparently they only have locations in Oahu. + Ambiance: there's a charm to this establishment. It isn't fine dining but I enjoyed it all the same.

Highway Inn is a good place to get Hawaiian Food. It's consistent and this location is nice inside. There are plenty of tables, less tourists than the other location and plenty of parking. So I'll be honest, I have a favorite Hawaiian Food restaurant that I frequent, but I was in Waipahu and needed to pick up a plate of food to share with my Hawaiian Club students. It was a quick process to order and my food came out quickly. I ordered the Hawaiian platter which came with a little of everything. There was chicken long rice, kalua pig, laulau, poi, sweet potato, lomi salmon and haupia. It was also $30! Food is crazy expensive these days, but I guess that's the cost of living in paradise. The food was decent. Everything was packaged individually and nicely fit into a nice box. Because I was just doing a takeout order, I didn't interact too much with the waitstaff. I was appreciative of the aunty who directed me to the back of the restaurant to make my order, otherwise I would have been standing by the hostess stand at the front of the restaurant for much longer.

Good portions and delicious Hawaiian food. Service is great and attentive. Can't go wrong. A huge improvement compared to when they were at the old location years ago. My brother got the lau lau combo and I got the luau sampler. It was a lot of food for me but I enjoyed it. The kalua pork was a bit dry for my taste and the sweet potato could be served warmer as it didn't taste made the day but hey the luau sampler had everything I've been craving for in so long. Parking can be tight in the mini mall, but there are street parking or in the Tropicana Square across the street. Also, I hate to mention this but I think it's worth mentioning in this review; there is an extra surcharge for dining in(I believe it's an extra 5% on top of your total bill). The sign is posted when you walk in the door so you shouldn't be surprise if you see it on your bill. While this policy is worth noting, I still find the experience enjoyable and looking forward to my next Hawaiian food craving.

First time coming here. My parents and brother come a few times a year to get their Hawaiian food fix. Hostess was very friendly. Our server seemed like he didn't care or he hated working here. We had to flag him down multiple times to get drinks we ordered when we first arrived, getting creamer for the coffee (Which I assume coffee would come with the creamer ok the side automatically. Nothing on the menu says to request condiments, which would've been fine had I saw that), getting our check (we had to flag down multiple servers to get the check because we couldn't see him anywhere), and even paying the check. We were here on a weekday around 11:30am and it wasn't busy at all. They even had another server working. Other than the service the food was amazing!! If you're new to Hawaii and wanting to try authentic Hawaiian food, this is it. I'd recommend the sampler plate. And just order rice on the side. You get to try a little bit of everything. I'd also definitely recommend trying the liliko'i juice, super good. Definitely cannot get that off island or it's not found commonly. My family had the sampler plate and Kiawe smoked meat. We were a total of 4 people and we shared the sampler plate. Though my brother and I had breakfast not long before this so our appetite was very small. I think on a different day, this wouldn't have been enough for 4. It's definitely enough for 2 people for sure. We have seen people at the restaurant order one each. They also serve alcohol here and even have a bar section to sit at. When we were there during the day time, it had lots of natural light and was brightly lit. I'm not sure how it is later in the day, but I'm sure they get very busy. They're next to a car shop so I'm sure they get a lot of foot traffic. Parking lot is small so plan accordingly!!

If you want delicious authentic Hawaiian food, look no further than Highway Inn. We shared their tasting plate that had good sized portions of almost everything on their menu, including a full size lau lau, kalua pig, lomi salmon, squid luau, chicken long rice, poi, sweet potato, and haupia. Only thing it didn't come with was rice so had to pay extra for that, but everything was fantastic and reasonably priced.Parking lot is not the largest and shares with several businesses including a busy UPS Store, so get there early to avoid the crowds. Service was decent but I feel like they forgot about us after bringing dinner, our water cups were empty most of the time.
