We're so grateful to the staff of the ceramics shop who helped us have a fabulous party at home with their supplies (paints, brushes, trays, and ceramic pieces). Made for a wonderful activity at my daughter's 10th birthday party.

Melissa was super helpful in assisting me to find what I was looking for! Tons of parking across the street and great hours of availability. They offer fun classes but I'm trying art therapy and just needed the supplies to paint my canvas.Update: The beauty of paint on canvas....it's easy to do cover ups and redos. Now don't laugh, I'm just a beginner. It used to be a lotus LOL. Blue does wonders right! Honu represents longevity...

A great one stop shop for arts and crafts. After serving 35 years in the Hawaii Air National Guard, this was my first ever visit to the HACC. I was looking for products and ideas for my shadow box. The framing/wood shop has a plethora of frames, pre-made shadow boxes and other woodcraft items for sale. Next door in the corner is the engraving shop where you can have a personal engraved plate made at a reasonable price. They also have plaques, trophies and other award type items. Next door to this shop is the arts and craft store where you can find similar items that you would find in a Ben Franklin store, but with military items. I wish I didn't wait 35 years before I stepped foot in this place. Help me catch up and pay them a visit if you have base access.

BEST CRAFT store on the island, happy, friendly personnel. Always striving to help! While they may NOT stock everything we may need, they give U ideas or referrals as to where we can get what we looking for. Thats the ALOHA spirit!! Recommend to anyone thats involved in doing crafts. I have been coming to this store for over 13 years and they are supportive o' the craft community. They understand what it takes to be isolated from the many choices offered in the mainland. Mahalo 'n keep it UP!!

Superb, ultra friendly, transformative Arts and Crafts Center located on Hickam Field. Quite possibly the best in the AF if not DoD! A foot fracture 18 months ago took me out of my weekly hiking routines for over 10 months. I stumbled on painting as a way to do something totally and radically different that didn't involve walking. Last time I had previously painted was 5th grade! Who knew I'd get hooked? I discovered that painting not only relaxes me but also helped me heal and recover from some lingering PTSD issues. There is an excellent 2015 article in Psychology Today magazine that discussed the mental heath and anti-depressive benefits of working with a highly complex hand-eye coordinated activity such as painting, pottery, or restoring automobiles. The research is convincing that these types of activities can reduce depression and nightmares. I highly recommend starting out simple with the Wed night Paint n' Sip sessions held 1830-2100 at the Hickam O-Club. There a professional artist like Ms Charis or Mr Dennis (they alternate every other week) will lead you step by step in painting.... I found after a while it was fairly easy to bolster the self confidence to paint subjects on my own, from "scratch"... the Hickam Arts and Crafts also hold regularly scheduled weekly classes in art, drawing, painting, pottery, ceramics, glass, woodworking, framing, and tons more. Please stop by to visit with these amazing wonderful people and see the small but extremely well stocked retail store with prices that are half what you pay downtown (plus no sales tax). The manager, Ms Mari, is an incredible person who will go out of her way to assist you. The entire staff is the personification of Ohana a Aloha! Hope to see you here soon. Mahalo for reading my review.

My friend and I came here just because we were looking for new hobbies and things to do. This was a no check ID place, which was nice. They have different sections of the area; painting, crafts store, sewing, wood shop, etc. we went into the craft store and we were so excited to be there. We also went into the painting area. We got to choose our item we wanted to paint, paid for the item, got to choose our colors, and sit to paint. Everything was pretty much provided. The employees were very nice and helpful! They would refill our paint every time we ran out. There's several blunt signs posted around the area; to keep the area clean and to take crying children outside. We thought were very funny. We went in and didn't know what we wanted to paint and was very impromptu but it was super fun! There will most definitely be a next time and we will have to plan our painting!

We had so much difficulty at Pictures Plus just trying to get a simple mat cut for a very precious drawing. PP redid the mat twice, it took two weeks total between redos, cost $50 and came out wrong both times. We have id and got our money back. Then my husband took his drawing into the frame shop at the Hickam Arts & Craft Center and they cut a perfect mat for him in 30 minutes for just $12! Soooo awesome. Can I give this place 10 stars!?! They deserve it!
