Food: BEST Cantonese/Chinese food on island!!! I come here often with my parents and we love it!! Highly recommend the Tomato Pork rice. Delicious! My parents love the congee and say that the way they make it is fresh and not like any other place on island. Super solid Chinese food I would recommend to anyone. The milk tea and yuanyang (coffee & milk tea) are also delectable. Service/ambiance: Small hole in the wall place next to the cultural plaza. Owners and workers speak Chinese and broken English. Space js limited and most of the customers are older. Please be nice!Parking: Can park at any of the Chinatown lots nearby or street parking. There's a lot that's connected to it but I'm not sure what it's called, it's next to the Cantonese school.

Craving for cheaper eats. No frills. Cantonese food. Chicken with Rice Noodles, Wet: succulent, tender pieces of chicken with rice noodles, generous portions of bean sprouts. Loved the sauce. Simply delicious. If dining in, you'll be given plates, utensils, and a cup of hot tea. Your meal will be provided in to go containers. Immerse in Chinese music, glimpse of culture and folks.

3.5 starsCheap eats in Chinatown! This restaurant kinda reminds me of a hole in the wall restaurant in Hong Kong. They are located in Chinatown Cultural Plaza near Royal Kitchen. There are 3 long tables and 1 small 2 top table if you want to dine in. I read other reviews stating they didn't have AC but it seems like that has changed. The place was very comfortable and cooler than outside. It's not fancy but they do offer affordable food and the place was full of Chinese customers when I visited. I approached the counter to order. They have a good size menu but what caught my eye was their Beef Tendon Chow Mein so I ordered that. It didn't take them long to get my order out and I was on my way. For some reason I had a gut feeling to check my order halfway to my car and thankfully I did because it was wrong. They gave me Beef Chow Mein! I walked back and they remade my order in about 5 minutes. The plate was pretty heavy and not bad for only $11. When I finally got home, I dug right in because I was starving. It was still hot and the portion was generous. It was beef tendon and Choy sum on top of chow mein. The taste was good but it's nothing spectacular. It filled me up and satisfied my craving for noodles. I did have to add saute sauce on top the beef tendon to give it more of a kick. Overall, not a bad option for food in Chinatown. I do want to come back to try their breakfast offerings, especially their jook (rice porridge).

Amazing hole-in-the-wall in Chinatown. We stopped in for lunch, and the restaurant was filled with locals ordering dine in and take out. This is a Cantonese establishment, and the staff do speak English as well. For dine in, you order at the counter and food is delivered to your table. We got a wonton ho fun and a beef chow fun, along with a lemon tea. Everything was tasty, fresh, and had great depth of flavor. There's a small fridge with drinks and self-service condiments, like vinegar and chili oil. Nothing fancy but delicious food at great prices. Portions are also big. We left full and paid $25 total. Cash only.

Great food at a reasonable price. I had the wet noodle chow mien with chicken and Jane the chow mien with ginger and fish. I liked mine. It was a huge portion. Jane didn't really like hers. Not enough ginger. Anyway prices are great. Heaven is REALLY SMALL. it is very easy to miss. Based on the customers dining in and the takeout trade, they are doing a very nice business.

Heaven Chinese bbq is a hole in the wall gem located at the Chinese Cultural Plaza but on the canal side next to Royal Kitchen. They have a small parking (behind royal kitchen) that has 30 min free parking! Parking Entrance is on north Kukui street. This is one of my dad's favorite places because he says there are three things that needs to happen in order for a place to be great, quality, quantity and price. They give generous quantities and generous pricing with home cooked food (no msg), tastes like it came from grandma's kitchen! My dad really likes the quality of the food here. Everything here is under $10!! They have indoor seating w about 3 Long tables but I've only done take out here. The older man and lady don't speak English too well but if you can catch the younger female or male who is usually in then you're good! Some of our favorite dishes are:Char siu w rice plate, $6.75 what a deal! The char siu dishes are only available on weekends and it's such a good deal. This is one of my dad's favorite dishes. Where else can you get a plate of char siu on Choy sum w rice for $6.75? They also have char siu fried rice, char siu by itself and char siu chow funn. Sells out early so have to be lucky.Won ton mein: the won ton mein is plentiful w 8 won tons that has pork hash and shrimp inside. I like the broth as it does not contain msg and natural broth. They pack the won ton mein in a nice bowl to go w separate soup. I like the soup because its natural soup without msg. $7.25. Pork chop chow funn - another one of my dad's favorites. Nothing special but cheap and plentiful! Generous amounts of pork chop on bone mixed w chow funn. $9.Jook - they have all kinds of jook here which is a rice soup. I see Chinese customers devouring bowls of jook here in the mornings. Prices vary depending on what meat you get.I didn't care for the shrimp w bean sprouts chow funn because it was the tiny shrimp w no flavor and seemed to be lacking w just bean sprouts.I want to say the real winner for this place is getting the char siu on Saturday and Sundays only.Come check it out and if you don't like it, the prices are so good. If you like it then you found your gem hole in the wall!

This tiny dingy place is located in the chinese Cultural center, across Royal Kitchen just along the canal, opposite of the Japanese shinto temple on the canal. With only four tables for dine in and barely any space for customers waiting for take out, this business has been in here for decades. It is a hole in the wall that serves chinese comfort food, noodles, milk tea and it's popular Char-siu pork on the weekend. We were there early in the morning for it's "Jook" chinese congee which is the best in the Honolulu chinatown. Only operated by the elderly female owner and a senior age chef, every dish is made to order. Whether take out or dine in, customers patiently wait as their orders are prepared in squence. While our dishes were still cooking I ordered a cup of H. K. milk tea which was so packed with nice black tea flavor and smothered with carnation and condensed milk. It helped warm up my body while waiting for our food.I had the mixed pork organ jook vs the salted pork and preserved egg my son ordered. The congee was of the perfect consistence, creamy smooth and full of umami flavor. Also a side dish of soy stir fried noodle and panfried gyoza which was a nice golden brown crisp, full of meat filling and moist. A really good compliment with the Jook. All the food did fill us up and started our day right with comfort and energy. Quality of food was excellent, ambience was almost non-existing but nostalgic, service was very friendly and welcoming , plus the very affordable price which is hard to find. All contributes to achieve this "Home" feeling and the legacy of the lost good old days still survive at this gem of a place. A lost past is a blessing when still aviailable.

Whoa!! This place is good. Highly recommend this place. Huge portions at great prices. I'm a huge fan of their Beef Tendon with Chow Funn noodles w/ Choi Sum. Don't be fooled by the looks of the front entrance. This place is that good.
