My green trash bin is always full so this spot is my go to after Christmas when I want to dump my Christmas tree. It's free. Once you enter, there would be a pile of trees on the left. Do not drive past their office. There is a scale in front of the office if you ever need to dump biodegradable stuff for a price. However topsoil/dirt was not allowed. There is a sign that lists items not allowed. I was a little bummed about that since we demolished and renovated my yard.

Awesome place to get some soil to backfill our area after rebuilding our house! Very helpful workers! They take your order, weigh your truck, load you with exactly what you want, then you pay at the weigh station.

I knew I could count on my Yeeps to help me locate an item in my Talk Thread "Where to buy dirt in West Oahu". My question was: where can I load up my truck to buy some dirt? The unanimous answer was: Hawaii Earth Products....thanks guys!Finding the answer was OK, finding the place was not.Big Hint: Do NOT use your Waze app. It had me 1) driving through already-congested Wahiawa town making weird turns. 2) driving back through Wahiawa via Kaukonahua - WTH? I must have circled Wahiawa town three times. The reason I didn't want to call them is because 1) they don't answer the phone, or when you do, they are not very nice. Finally I broke down and called. They are located a mile past the Wahiawa dump and Schofield Barracks. Thank goodness there is a sign off the main road. You drive onto a very dusty dirt road which takes you to a weigh station. There was a sign that said "Customer Entrance" and a door which said Customers but it was locked and it was supposed to be open today (Saturday).HIGHLIGHTS:- real cheap dirt. This location only has two types in bags: potting soil and soil conditioner.- you can drive your truck up to them, have them dump soil into your truck for $50 and off you go. - the girl behind the grilled window was super nice and very cute. I am sure a lot of the rubbish guys think so too. She was very helpful in finding me my bagged dirt, although she had never heard of bagged dirt being sold at this location before.- all the green waste that comes out of your garden gets dumped here by the City and County, gets made into soil, which you can buy and dump right back into your garden. - several convenient locations (Wahiawa, Campbell Industrial Park/Kapolei, Waimanalo and the Big Island).LOWLIGHTS:- this is not a retail business, so don't expect good customer service. Their bagged dirt gets sold in stores, although you can buy directly from them.- hard to find if you don't know the area. Do NOT use Waze app until someone fixes the map.- they don't answer the phone or take a while to answer - you may have to call more than once.- business hours are posted on the website but doors for customer was locked. I had to figure out how to get help.I was waved to the back of the building, where I reversed my car. A man loaded up my car with bags of potting soil and soil conditioner. I drove back to the weigh station, paid cash and came home with my dirt. The soil conditioner was nice and black. There were a few freshly-dead cockroaches in them but the bag did say "organic". One bag of Soil conditioner was $5.85 and a bag of the potting soil was $5.45. The soil conditioner was a bigger bag than the potting soil. Ironically, the soil conditioner product was better than the potting soil - the potting mix had huge chunks of super hard clay in them. I'd estimate the bag of the soil conditioner weighs about 30 lbs. I paid cash; not sure if they take credit cards.Return factor: Yes, if I need more dirt. But if I want to avoid the hassle/drive and then having to wash my car afterwards, I think I'd pay more and head to Wal-Mart. Good for: the large landscaping projects as you can fill up your truck bed with dirt. Your weekend gardeners would do better with retail sales items in your hardware or mass-merch chains.

Best deal on the island for dirt. The minimum is 1/4 cubic yard. I got the lawn and garden dirt which was $41 for a cubic yard. I got a 1/4 because that's all I could get at the time and I only paid $10.73! I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the price because it was so cheap. The other day I got two packs of soil from ace and it was $12 for two! I will be coming back here to get my soil for now on.

If you ever wondered where your green bin waste goes, It goes here to Hawaiian Earth Products. It is a commercial facility sponsored by the state that is a for-profit Enterprise. Everything from stuff in your green trash bin to commercial landscapers who haul away everything from grass clippings to tree stumps all ends up here to be commercially composted.Surprisingly, it is a very complex process of timing and temperature. The soil and compost the material all has to be processed under correct conditions to end up with a commercially viable final product. The great thing is if you are in need of compost soil, it is very inexpensive. Something like 40 bucks for a truck load. They will even load it into your truck for you but you haul it away. I was fortunate enough to be part of an opala.org tour. If you want to learn more about our trash, definitely check it out.

This place (Waimanalo location) definitely deserves my 5 star rating. Answered Phone on 4th ring, very polite, informative and friendly. I asked his name - Ikaika- Drove over that afternoon, (Google maps took me right there) Calculated my need by the dims of my garden, bought a truck full (1/2 cubic yard) of compost soil for my garden. Reasonable price, took my CC, too. Ikaika was there, very good customer service in person, too. Will return if I need more, for sure.

Used to be able to purchase 1/2 yard loads with my small Toyota truck and was told you have to purchase by the full yard. In the past I was able to purchase 1/2 yard loads, but someone changed the policy, I only wished they indicate it on their website so I didn't have to drive out to Waimanalo for nothing. Not sure what the reason for policy change, but they sure make it harder for everyday homeowners to use their products. Very UPSET.

They don't sell half yards anymore. So you'll need a full sized bed. Would have been nice if they put this on their website. Been coming here for a while and needed a half yard to finish my yard but now have to find another source. Wasted my morning coming down here.
