Great Chinese spot in Chinatown! There's a large dining area with lots of tables. Servers are friendly, helpful, and attentive. I noticed every server walked briskly the entire night, even the older ones! The restaurant was basically at max capacity, but they had it under control and with a positive attitude. This is the type of place I enjoy eating at. Throughout the night, at least 5 different servers brought food, hot mustard, fresh pots of tea, extra napkins, refilled water, etc. Price is reasonable. Food is served hot (be careful steamed bean curd is molten hot, yum). Everything is really tasty, not oily or salty! Also, I'm sensitive to msg, and no msg reaction after the meal. Awesome!Order for 4 people:Steamed Fish Fillet w/ Ginger & Scallion $20Fried Rice w/ Salted Fish & Chicken $18Peking Duck $29Steamed Bean Curd $6.85 x 2House Crispy Noodles w/ Seafood $20Coconut Jin Doi $2 ea (no pic)Coconut Gau $7.50 (no pic)Just enough extra food for 3 small takeout boxes. Nice! I could easily go back for the fish fillet and fried rice (also the bean curd and Peking duck), but I'll be ordering other items so I can try more of their extensive menu! Give this spot a visit and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I used to come all the time to this place when my family visited from Tahiti. It was always very enjoyable, except when occasionally the waitress will throw at you their famous line with a mean attitude, do not forget to leave a tip. I am a big tipper even if the service is bad having two restaurants in Waikiki. My husband taught me to always tip 20% when I first arrived in the USA in the 70's. I still will come to this place, having carts rolling by, food was exceptionally good. I will come once a week to order Dim sum take out for friends going out fishing and sailing out of the AlaWai harbor, that's how good the Dim sum at his place was. I have been back several times with family since it changed ownership. I was not impressed with the changes that came with that. Dim sum did not taste the same, could be because they take your order and no carts rolling by.This Thursdays I went to Chinatown to shop for ingredients for my vegetarian Jai to celebrated the Chinese New Year. I decided to stop and have a bite on my way to the parking lot. I was not hungry but wanted to help a business. The place had 5 tables occupied, I was seated right away. The waitress who was on the floor came quickly. She was standing there waiting for me to choose which I did not like, I felt like she was in a rush to finish her shift. I put my order, Dim sum and asked her to recommend a noodle dish. I am not sure if she understood me, she kept mumbling through her mask. I finally picked what she was pointing on the menu. Dim sum came quickly but they were not was what ordered. She got very upset at me, she was an elderly lady, she started scolding me in front of the customers, took them back and returned with the correct order. Nether less, I enjoyed them, they were not as good as before. The noodle dish was so dry that I had to down every bite with the tea. She said it was the customers favorite. Char sui pork noodle, sautéed dried with onions. I left the restaurant very disappointed but I still left her a 20% tip on a 35.00 dollars bill.

Good food and service!! Got here at 12:30 for lunch and originally came here for the crispy BBQ pork bun. Unfortunately, they were out of it and they brought a substitute baked BBQ pork bun. We decided not to try the baked since we were really looking forward to the crispy bun. The other dishes were very flavorful and it came out fairly fast and hot. When you come in, they give you a menu and a paper with a list of dim sum to order. You just have to put how much of each dim sum you want to order and give that paper to the server. We will definitely be back and go earlier to try the crispy BBQ pork bun

My mouth is watering writing this review, LOL. Get ready for the kanak attack after eating here xD Seriously though, this place has some of the BEST dim sum on da island!! My family and I love coming here for lunch on Sundays. After our previous favorite place at Ala Moana closed down years ago, we've been looking for a replacement Dim Sum restaurant that had our beloved crispy seaweed rolls. Alas, my dad came across Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant and we've only been coming here since. We've ordered here for casual lunches to catering for holiday parties and this establishment has consistently served us amazing food. Everything tastes so fresh and flavorful (not overly salty either). My favorites are the siumai and the char siu bao, yummm. Service is quick and staff are very hardworking. The inside is quite large with high ceilings and the aroma of the food hits you right when you open their doors~There was no wait when we arrived around noon, and we've never had to wait in the past either. The parking lot entrance is on Nimitz, and it's valet only. Definitely come here for your dim sum fix!

Attended a Christmas party here on the second floor and really enjoyed eating here. We didn't have dim sum but we had a 7 course meal with two desserts! We had dishes of Ginger chicken, Fried pork, honey walnut shrimp, seafood crispy noodles, Spicy Green beans, Char Siu/Duck/Roast Pork dish, Some kind of steamed bun w pork and veggies, Custard buns and Tapioca. All of the food was good, bathrooms were easily upstairs and nice and clean. Great place for a private large party, we had the entire upstairs to ourselves, our group had 13 tables! The food all came out quickly and everything tasted good. I would like to come back to try the dim sum downstairs one day.

Meeting for some dim sum...If you ever need a place for a function many times Chinese restaurant is a great option as they have tables which allows to fit larger groups and Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant provides exactly that.I'm not as familiar of what formerly stood at this location prior to like many others but know that it has been well updated considering the dated building itself, we didn't dine on the ground floor of the restaurant but the second floor where their large banquet room is located which is impressively spacious, to access it you need to take the elevator which a staff was already standing by as we arrived since you're only able to enter by a key card. From what I expected to be a simple lunch turned to a feast of various dishes including roast chicken, steamed fish, pork hash with shrimp, walnut shrimp, mushrooms and bok chow, shrimp fried rice, seafood pumpkin soup to name just a few though many were items I can't have there was more than enough for me to enjoy which was very tasty. The staff was very on top of it all including keeping the hot tea coming and boxes to take the left over home I was just impressed of how they catered us and yes there was bathroom available as well which was clean and newly renovated making the whole function very comfortable.Thank you!

Went here twice during my recent visit to the islands! Sooo happy to be recommended this from my sister's bf's mom as I was sad when I heard my fav dim sum spot closed in Chinatown a couple of years ago. The waitresses were nice, the food came out quickly and it seemed to be popular with my circle because I kept seeing people I knew there - or is the island REALLY just that small ??? Anyway, I loved the food, they had all of my favorites most especially fu pei!

TLDR:Solid, classic dim sum institution in Chinatown. We were able to get a table on a Monday afternoon no problem during the holidays. Almost everything we ordered was super delicious and the service was speedy. Highly recommend the Steamed Bean Curd Roll, the Shrimp Dumpling w/ Chives, and the Fried Shrimp Ball. ------FOOD:Everything tasted classic and I'd order the following items again: Shrimp Dumpling, Siu Mai, Steamed Bean Curd Roll, Shrimp Dumpling w/ Chive, Fried Shrimp Ball. The last three were all excellent, and I don't think I've had a fried shrimp ball anywhere else before. It was perfectly fried and the creamy sauce that came with it perfectly balanced things out. I'd skip the spring roll next time -- there was a starch of some sort in them that I couldn't quite put a finger on but I'm so unused to spring rolls having a starchy food in them that I just couldn't get past it. The spring roll wrapper was also thicker than my personal preference. ------SERVICE:* Fast, efficient, few words, exactly what you would expect from a classic dim sum institution. * I had bought some items from the nearby Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery and I had no problem eating them at lunch with the dim sum we ordered from here------ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE:* Front door isn't the most obvious here, but look for a wall of wooden panels and you'll find the door you're looking for. * Inside is a large dining area with large and small tables. You'll get seated and order at your table, but there's also an area near the back of the restaurant with fresh containers of dimsum that you can pick and choose from as well. The back of the restaurant is also where you pay the bill at the end of the meal

I can only say for lunch dim sum here. It's great. Solid choice if you're in Chinatown and within the wait. The food came out fresh. What's meant to be hot was hot, what's meant to be crispy was crispy! The two of us ordered 9 dim sums... can't help it since it's our first time here lol. They had a bunch of tofu skin stuff that weren't found in other dim sum places we've been too. Their mochi sesame ball had coconut in it instead of just the red bean option. The fried shrimp ball was so good. Braised chicken feet were soft with lots of flavor. Great service too. Plenty of seating. Reasonable prices. Would come back again if we were in Chinatown and feeling dim sum.
